The problem is that she is not ordinarily entitled to an exemption because she finished her first degree under the age of 30. It is immaterial whether she schooled here or outside Nigeria. That is why youth service is open to all ages provided one graduated before the age of 30. If you're unable or unwilling to undergo the one year compulsory service, stay away from govt employment and appointments at all levels.

Me thinks anybody can assume that position and build a relationship with the heads of multilateral global financial bodies. It doesn’t have to be kemi. God forbid, what if she dies? Won’t Nigeria appoint a new head?

What we should be worried about is the signal this scandal will send to our international partners about institutions in Nigeria——that such a sensitive position like the finance minister can forge certificates. We should be able to build institutions that will maintain the fundamentals of our markets regardless of who is at the helm.

That and our international image is what we should worry about. We are even lucky that our local bourse is not responsive to shocks like this scandal, otherwise, our equities would have shed significant value.

It's the duty of the government to appoint the right persons for the right positions including conscientiously vetting their qualifications and credentials to avoid this Kemi kind of scandal. The supposed majority of voting citizens have played their roles by electing the president and his party. The president should do hos job and appointees found wanting will/should be sent packing, the relationship cultivated with the IMF notwithstanding.

Once you graduated below 30yrs of age, you can still serve at any time you need the certificate not minding the age you may be at such point in time. This means no exemption certificate for you no matter your age at the point of making such application.
