Chibuking81: I might tell you mine and it will be tasere units to you because you be big man but to me they’re reasonable amount of units to be hld in such banks. ...And seeing the amount which they were bought do -% -% -% till 51 ! and still held on tight, I deserve some accolade. Don’t say depending on the units because whether na 1 unit worth 1 naira na somebody hard earned money. 1 Like |

I laughed in Chinese when people compared some quotes written by an American who invests purely on USA stocks and applied such quote to Nigerian stocks who happens to be an emerging market with currency risks despite the same Warren Buffet warning investors about investing in Emerging markets. If your portfolio/stock is down by 50%, u will need 100% gain to break even and not to even talk of back to profit. It's best to run first and ask questions later if a war is coming. 3 Likes |

NSE is not a place people should go long esp during a bear market. There is no point fighting the trend, I am guilty of that also. We are lucky this time that oil price helps to protect our forex exchange rate. I was a victim of 2014 crash and learnt my lesson in the hard way. Some of us were hit in double fold, our portfolio was down by almost 50% and our naira assets also lost another 50% compared to dollars esp. It was terrible for people who had their living expenses in forex. Imagine, you changed ur money at 160/$ to buy NSE stocks in 2015 and the same stock lost 50% and more. I remembered buying FBNH at 10 naira in 2014 fast forward to 2015, FBNH went to as low as 4 naira and naira started trading at more than 400/$. 1 million naira that was $6250 then bought 100k units of FBNH then, if u sold at 4 naira to meet unexpected expenses in $ then, u will end up getting $1000 if u changed it then at 400/$ which means ur $6250 investment then turned to $1000, that was 84% loss in capital. It's better imagined than experienced. This was just a case study then. I will never do long term of up to 2 years in NSE and I won't fight the trend. mendes911:NO mind me sir, I be learner and now I know better after my experience in 2014 with serious haircut. People need to be careful of whom they take advice from. People can be sincere and be sincerely wrong. I used to have a mentor then advising me to keep investing in NSE for long terms as a plan for retirement citing Nestle, NB and co from where they started from and where they are now as multibaggers. Forgetting that, past performance is not a guarantee of future results and moreover it might be a good idea if someone doesn't have foreign exposure as expenses. 3 Likes |

Never overtake a long truck at a sharp bend to avoid head on collision. Overtaking to clear some offers with the mindset that a stock is going to be on full bid most times is jumping the gun. Let your charts guide you. Most of such bids turn to FULL GHOST after you are sucked in. Some stocks are still owing the bears and must pay. This was part of currentprice's assertion earlier. Well, experience is most times a better learning tool in this game. 1 Like |

Jejebabaa: Jejebaba you did not tell us what happened after the 50% decline in both stocks and .. i feel leaving this comment like this teaches nothing. Tell us how you handled the situation.. Did you sell ? Did you hold ? What is long term to you? Cause 2 to me Qualified as long term.. I’ve been here only for 9 months tho. If you don’t buy a stock in a bear market when should you buy ? Bull market ? 1 Like |

DeRuggedProf: Derugged, I was just about to post this (I quoted you so I can extend my greetings): Remember, TA based trades are short term, in case the trade goes sour, do remember to cut the losses and move on to identify another opportunity... Infinitisi zerodha series Some people place trades based on TA, follow the trade with FA while forgetting there was an initial TA setup (this is where hope usually takes charge) and exit the market based on GA. My special greetings to Derugged. |

DeRuggedProf: '' Never overtake a long truck at a sharp bend to avoid head on collision. '' lol Prof - can relate to this as a biker . . . but if one is caught in such a situation , avoid all 8 survival reactions (SR's by keith code) quote '' 1. rolling off the gas 2. Tightening on the bars 3. Narrowed and frantically hunting field of view 4. fixed attention (on something) 5. Steering in the direction of the fixed attention 6. Jejebabaa: Jejebaba, This could not be the whole story now, I bought at N10 too. Average down to N7.5k, I was heavy buyer then. Having more than a million units. I collected dividend of more than N1m in the course of these years. I rode the draw-down till I got to 15% negative of which I sold,to quickly join Dangote Flour which I view cheap during this bull 2018, I got more unit in the process. I rode dangote till 17 naira. I eventually sold between 16 and 17. See my dear, different ways to profit in the market. In bear market do your due diligence and buy very low. Sell when the company become overvalue. W. Buffets do sell over valued companies. He was only patience during the period the under value company stays under. Comparing Dollar to Naira will not work. Do your biz in Dollars earn in Dollar. Do your biz in Naira earn in Naira QED 7 Likes |
