The fact is that Igbos are republican in Nature, we have practiced direct democracy for century where every man's voice counts. When the British came their former of indirect rule failed woefully in the east because "IGBO ENWIGHI EZE", Igbos have no kings. As chinua achebe wrote, achievement is recognised among the Igbos not kingship, so every man strives to be recognised in his community by his achievement, there by leading to competition and culminating to emergence of not one iroko but various irokos, factions and competiting group. The Igbos decided what affects their communities in quorum before the British. This culture of independence in though and action is still prevalent in the socio cultural life in the south East thus prevalent in the politics of that region. People wouldn't listen to you, they would try to usurp you. So in the eastern part of Nigeria, there are many political champions none lording over all. It is of my opinion that this is the best for democracy, it provides for a viable opposition. The south East has played this role of opposition to the ruling party since the inception of this republic... |

amaniro:The Igbos are yet to be understood by other Nigerians. They do not do “kings”. Every man is a king in his home. Full Republicanism. That is why they’ve never had any regional godfather. |

Seriously, I don't see the difference between we yorubas and the almajiri mollas that we use to abuse under our brown roofs in sociological and ideological make up. We are both easily pliable, zombiefiable and brainwashable. I wish I were Ibo. ![]() |

Only a man that has clean hands, a pure heart to

unite and lead the Igbo ethnic group. |

bluefilm:Zik and ojukwu had the support of the elite because they were truly jagabans. Kanu does not have the support of the entirety of the igbo people, let alone the elite. Don't compare a demagogue like kanu to leaders like zik and ojukwu. The south east have not had a leader since ojukwu. Nobody is worthy yet. |

I have always said it that igbos know nothing about politics, they just come here to act like they are some analyst tinubu doesn't control southwest, it seems like he weilds so much power becuase of the population of lagos state. he has no control over oyo, ondo, ogun and ekiti, it is only in lagos and osun that he has influence even in osun, they needed fayemi to help them convince omisore. we only respect him because he stood his ground even in the face of storm, he stayed and brought people to ad, ac, acn and apc when the pdp were still ravaging nigeria,he helped people become strong in their states by convincing electorates that they will transform the state like lagos. he has an overbearing nature that gets him enemies tho |
