Enasdan: Hello Enasdan. You'll have to run the recovery software again. This time you're gonna need another laptop; an external hard drive casing and a copy of the setup of the recovery software You're going to put your laptops hard drive in the external HDD casing and insert via USB into the other laptop, Install the recovery software and run it. Allow the process to complete. You may save recovered files onto the C: drive. Once done, you can copy recovered Docs onto a flash drive. You can now move the hard drive into your computer. Boot up, then copy Docs IN FLASH onto your laptop. Another LOONG process, but it'll be well worth it. *Cheers* |

benob: A solid fix is; Use any phone as your hotspot..... and when connected with it.....go to your PC WI-FI settings, and set your phone connection as a metered connection ......that's the key. Your system will always recognize that connection as having limited data plan. So anytime you connect from that phone..... only your current task would be allowed to connect to the internet. So nothing like background synchronization of other apps or Windows update zapping loads of data. I always tell my clients in Nigeria that; instead of buying a modem, they should buy a small android phone, to act as hotspot. They're the same in price and better, because; -their battery last better -you can control/see your data statistics in more details. -portability -capable of emergency secondary functions. -more reliable -not dependent on one mobile carrier. -less hassle ...and host of other benefits. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Enasdan: A lot of things could have caused that..... - saving to the same drive you're recovering from - new data overwriting previous ones - the recovery software....etc. |

Hi, so a friend of mine has a Laptop (Windows 7), he asked me to re-install windows while keeping files cos the PC was running kinda slow and cos he didnt wanted to lose important files. Now, after installing Win 7 agin, going to the Windows.old folder for me to access the old files, i discovered that some of the files were shown in green (i.e. encryted). I tried disabling encrypting services and decrypting but the issue still keeps poppping up. Pls what can be done? the guy doesnt remember the encrption key anymore |

Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by udemzyudex(m): 2:39pm On Oct 05, 2018 |
luke55720: And you say the caplock is working properly? I hope it didn't fall down from where you place it? Well, if you're not an engineer I'll advice you take it to a laptop engineer for diagnosis. It might be a faulty screen or signal cable since you say the caplock is working properly ( off and on when you press the key) |

Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by udemzyudex(m): 5:15pm On Oct 05, 2018 |
OjoMadiba: OK, that's the problem. A bad keyboard can make your system to malfunction, your system will be making noise at startup, mouse moving up and down, and sometimes make your laptop to freeze in fact you might think its a virus. So I'll advice you to replace the keyboard. |

skydancer: good evening boss, my laptop is HP pavilion and its RAM and hardware are 3.00gig and 148gig respectively but right now is hanging (I can't play or watch a video without it hanging) so what could be the problem? if it's to update RAM how many gig RAM should I buy? and as for the hardware, is it okay? |
Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by Razak5(m): 8:54pm On Oct 05, 2018 |
Nizguy: Hi there. Lets paraphrase a bit. So you have a HP Pavilion with a 3GB RAM and 148GB (160GB) Hard disk that has started acting slow recently even while watching videos. Well the 3GB RAM is good enough for little tasks like watching videos. However, your current situation might be caused by a clogged up hard disk or a failing hard disk hard disk as a result of prolonged usage. Solution:....Start by defragmenting your hard disk. Quickly, before you do that, you will check the health of your hard disk by going here: https://www.hdsentinel.com/download.php Once on that site, download the HdSentinel, PRO version>>unzip the file (right click> extract to >select desktop)> double click the setup file to install. After installation, the software is expected to start automatically showing the hard drive health and temperature. So, How do we defragment, Choose Start→Control Panel→System and Security >>The Administrative Tools window appears. Click Defragment Your Hard Drive >>The Disk Defragmenter dialog box appears. Click the Analyze Disk button --This step checks whether your disk requires defragmenting. A drive with 10 percent or more fragmentation should be defragmented. (If you’ve been using your computer for a while, the drive may show 50 percent fragmentation or more.) When the analysis is complete, click the Defragment Disk button. A notation displays the progress of defragmenting your drive. When the defragmenting process is complete, the Disk Defragmenter dialog box shows that your drive no longer requires defragmenting ............. The above writeup in italic was copied from dummies.com ............. If you find the health to be 40% or less, then you should consider replacing the hard disk. A more drastic measure will be to re-install the OS...I want to believe it hast gotten to that yet. *Cheers* |
