Honestly, I can't thank everyone enough for the words of encouragement and support or advice.

I intend to reapply and refire and will work on the specific reason given in the gcms once I get it. @Makano and @jnyuwa, I hope you will find time to go through my SOP and LOE once the time comes but I'll forward the current one for you to peruse in your spare time and comment.

As stated the denial was for purpose of visit but I know that CIC won't determine what direction I need to put my business through and I'm looking at several other options as well.

Cheers and God bless!

Also, congrats to all approvals and PPR's and more patience, grace and favour to all hopefuls.

It shall surely end in praise!

I have sent you a pm, please reply the Email.

Dwebb55:
Dear house, I finally received a response from CIC. However, I was delayed and will soon go about reapplying.

This application was my first and I believe it was well packaged as I am an avid reader of the thread and I also used a top immigration lawyer based in Canada and I have an unblemished travel history.

Submitted online on 1st of June. Biometrics was done on the 7th. I sent several CSE's and got a denial yesterday. I applied for a course in a trade as I recently started a business in that trade and needed further education to boost and improve my business. The trade isn't taught in the Universities which is why I had to apply to a college.

Deny was adduced to purpose of study but will be applying for my gcms shortly to get a specific reason. Contributions will be welcome to get this sorted.

Also thinking of a judicial review but yet to decide on if this will be a better option. Opinions are welcome and I look forward to being successful in a trade that I believe will enhance me personally and my society at large.

Reapply for what? I have not been denied. My application has been pending one year now is what makes it ridiculous from the school's point of view. Might be bacause I have a lot of travel history, lived 18 years outside of Nigeria. This fall 2018 was my last possibility of deferring my admission. It was also my last chance to show up or have my highly coveted scholarship cancelled and given to someone else. I was a no show cos CIC refused to process my application despite numerous emails. It was all generic replies that your application under "active processing." It appears from the school's letter that they may be willing to have me resume in January 2019. If so, praise the Lord! What a year it would be to enter 2019 starting school in Canada. God has been so good to me in my lifetime, this would be another big testimony when it happens.

This is so painful, why not visit Lagos Vfs and report to the manager. Few weeks ago, I went for a clarification though a different issue, I told them I needed to see the manager, sure they asked what for? I briefed to the young lady, she directed me to one office where I met a white man who clarified me. Seriously, your case needs urgent action. Waiting for One whole year for visa app response is no joke, coupled with numerous mails to CIC. Who does that? let them use their account to send mails /report on your behalf, Sure they will take theirs very serious.

I humbly disagree with points 1 and 2 especially as you used the word ''Must". Career change is not a crime. People may develop love for a new career as they progress in life. Some of us were almost trapped in the career bubble because we had little input into what we wanted to do early in life. It can be frustrating if you are continuously coerced to maintain the same path which provides no sense of fulfillment for you. I graduated almost 20 years ago, Masters 15 years ago... But going for BSc in completely different field. I resisted the temptation to stay on the same part for visa approval having made that mistake only to end up unsatisfied in Australia and abandoning my studies there 4 years ago after a Semester pursuing another somewhat related Masters Programme. I made up my mind and said it's what I want or the highway because I was searching for fulfilment which had always eluded me in spite of my academic pursuits.
Thanks for this highlight! I will respond to you because I see reasoning and maturity in your scope of argument. I have known this group for a while and while we share opinions and experiences, we do it positively and with loads if respect for one another and our differences.

Yes.. there's no crime in changing careers but let me be precise with you.... you can do that in most countries including UK, USA and Australia.... but most likely you won't get away on that with Canada! (At the point of initial application)
I have based my judgement on trends, experiences and actual happenings... ok.
They waste no time at a refusal & pointing... purpose of study.... people should check contributors' profile at times before they type just anything at anybody.

We should learn to take the best of a situation..... most people go against you simply cos you have given a fact that does not favour them!... life isn't that way.

Thanks again @galala123

@Jnyuwa, Boss I contacted you early August via email on how to go about my submission. But just this morning I received a PPR letter, does that mean that my visa has been approved?

@Everyone, I'm kinda scared, I submitted an online application for visa and here is my time line:

Purpose of visit: Study Permit- PhD in Engineering.
Date Submitted: 4th Sept, I did an upfront Medicals.
Biometrics: 5th Sept
Biometrics done and updated: 6th Sept.
Medicals Passed: 14th Sept.
Passport Request: 11th Oct.

I'm scared because when I go through what many people say here regarding online submission - how much time take it takes, tbh, I was expecting my PPR in December and that's why I want to know the meaning of this PPR.

Lastly, when I checked my profile it's still on background check and they've not updated it. Please I'm kinda confused.
Congrats!!
A passport request is an approval for sure.

Everyone's case is not the same and applications are treated individually.... PhD in Engineering is not a Child's play especially in Canada.... and meanwhile it's even classified as in-demand career in most provinces.

Some provinces go in search on Express Entry pool for applicants with job offers in most Engineering fields and give them nominations even with scores as low as 350.

You will confirm this yourself in due time.... carry on and best wishes.

Folaroyal

I would advise you to order for GCMS note, it shows you everything about your application. You would get to know the last time ur file was attended to & what the VO wrote on ur file. You can then address the concern(s) (if any) of the VO before they make final decision.
