After 13 weeks of waiting, it's a refusal for me based on purpose of visit. Kinda suspected due to my study gap of 10yrs but i was hoping my well written SOP will convince the immigration officer.

Im not gonna bother to reapply, going with my plan B to get a masters in d UK and then apply for EE in 2yrs.

Thanks guys for all ur support.

It is well bro. You will definitely get your Uk visa cos the process is straight forward. Downside is there is no automatic staying back like you have in Canada except God gives you a job and the company decides to sponsor you.

But please let me appeal to you to reapply one more time for Canada. The same SOA you will use for Uk is the same account you will use for Canada. Most masters in Uk schools go for at least £9000 and maintenance funds of at least £ £9,125 (almost same amount you will use for Canada). I suggest you Defer your Canada Admision and also apply for Uk MSc (it is free). I did same thing.

All you will need do this time is do online for Canada so that your passport is still with you to enable you apply for Uk. You can apply for Uk about 3 weeks before resumption (you will do priority application). Even after paying your deposit fees to any Uk school you can collect your money back when your Canada visa is out.

Trust me, even though Canada visa process is tiring, I kid you not bro, The peace of mind you have knowing you can stay back to work is everything. Imagine staying in UK for 4 years and I still could not stay back? If I had done my BA in Canada, I am so sure I would have nearly gotten my PR by now.

My opinion is there is no point spending about 4m and above in any foreign country for studies and not stay back to get that foreign work experience.

Long story short, you can kill 2 birds with one stone. Think about it.

Sorry for the too much questions guys,

don't really know how to calculate the master's degree tuition fee on per credit hour and all that. The school is University of Regina.

And who knows the estimate of living expenses or links, I want to include the total expenses for 1 year in my SOP

So I decided to send a mail to Lagos and London offices to enquire about my application and Lagos office responded with this:

Good day,

We write in reply to your enquiry

As indicated on our website, the processing times provided are based on how long it took to process 80% of all applications during that time period and are subject to change. As these processing times refer to 80% of applications, some applications will fall outside of these timeframes. In addition, as they are an average, there will be some fluctuations in processing times at peak periods during the course of the year.

That being said, please be assured that these applications have been received and are currently in active process and we are making every effort to complete processing as expeditiously as possible. As soon as processing is completed we will contact the applicants.

If the applicants are no longer interested in visiting Canada, please have them inform our office in writing that they wish to withdraw their applications. As processing of their applications has already commenced, a processing fee refund would not be applicable

Kind Regards,

Let me describe a scenario to you....

A friend applied with 16M bank balance(Real money, not lump sum).... Got Reject

Reapplied 40days later but at the bank he tried to print statement, he needed to transfer fund to someone, so he was told to just go ahead and use it like that, He had just 300k as account balance ......... He got the Visa in 12 days.

Let me explain again, The reason for the denial in the first stage was Insufficient FUNd!!!. it took 60 days and was rejected.

I have a conclusion, If you have 1 naira and you feel comfortable with submitting ur application, Please go ahead.

You just need to baffle them, amd you get your Visa, alot of people are Just trying to Impress this V.O with their application.

There was a testimony i read somewhere, i cant remember the episode,....

Dad's bank balance...200M
Mom......................30M
Domiciliary account of Daddy.....$20k
Brother.........................14M
Her own savings..........13M

Visa..................Rejected.

If you listen to people that are Rejected for Visa application sometimes, You will even lose hope.
Be yourself, apply as you are.

Well, i had to quote this post as it can be misleading. While i agree with your that available balance of a statement of account does not guarantee a study permit approval, this "If you have 1 naira and you feel comfortable with submitting ur application, please go ahead" should not be the case. This being that there is a requirement that each applicant MUST meet when applying for a study permit and one being that applicants MUST have equivalent of their tuition fees and 10,000CAD available and accessible by them for the first year of study. This requirement completely has nothing to do with the VO or trying to impress. It is a stipulation in the study permit regulation. The VO simply enforces it so that at any point after the application may have been approved, it would have been established that at the time of application, there was sufficient and required funds for both tuition and living expenses. This information is usually documented in the officer's GCMS note for future references.

Also, it is important to note that how funds are accumulated is as important as the available balance. So having huge amount of funds may not equal funds sufficiency. Sources of funds, ability for either applicant or sponsor to generate funds for subsequent year(s) of study are also considered.

There are areas in a study permit application that falls under the stipulations and provisions of the Immigrations and refugees protection act and are backed by the Immigration laws. Available funds for tuition and living expenses in the tune of 10,000CAD is one that does and there is no discretionary considerations on the part of the VOs when processing. They simply ensure it is met.

So using your "scenario", the applicant MOST certainly met the funds requirements for the application to be approved. Either through his/her sponsor or other liquid form unencumbered.

I just had to respond to this to avoid an intending applicant feeling he/she can submit a SOA devoid of funds for tuition and living expenses for the first year of study.

Regards.

@Jnyuwa or @anyone, please is it true that one cannot have a visa that exceeds the expiration date of his passport? For E.g. if my passport expires on 20th June 2020 my visa will not extend pass that date.

Good morning. I have been a silent reader here for a while now .
I submitted my application for a pgd program (Humber college winter 2019)
Online 24th of September
Biometrics: 26th of September
Refused study permit: 5th of October

Attached letter of refusal. I plan on re applying. I guess it's because i did not pay my tuition fee. It's a 2 years program.

You guys think you are smart. Everyone started filing online because online are been processed from London where the VOs are more lenient. What happened from that is that a back- log was created. Now London is struggling to catch up on May, June, July and August applicants. It seems effective September, newly filed online applications are now been channelled to Kenya where the workload is not much due to applicants running away from Kenya. So by some twists of event, online applications are now going to Kenya. The more things change, the more they remain the same. Have a good day.

Ps: that said, this denial has nothing to do with your tuition payment. It seems you did not convince the VO that you plan to be a genuine student if granted a visa. You did not convince them that you have no other exterior motives of been in Canada than studying and returning to your country after your studies. Please order your GCMS notes and see.

Tosan28,

Sorry about the outcome of your application. Who was your sponsor and did you show strong proof of relationship with the sponsor? How much was in your sponsor's account? I don't think you not having paid upfront tuition constitute the reason to why you were slapped with insufficient funds. Also, what's the correlation between your intended program to your previous studies and job role. What were your ties to Nigeria, that can compel your return back home. A good SOP can scale application through.

Don't be in a haste to reapply, kindly order for your gcms notes to get the factual reason behind your refusal. In the main time, share your profile, so we could know what went wrong in your previous application.
