I've sent you an email as regards the easiest way to secure loan to take care of USA school tuition.

The only fear I'm having is the repayment plan. Will it not affect my living standard after graduation?

Please can you kindly send me the email too. I'll like to benefit from such an opportunity.

Hi Guys,

Now my testimony. It was all God.

I had my visa app (J1) today in Abuja, 1pm.

7 persons were before me. 2 were denied (blue and yellow paper). All interviews took an average of 5-7 questions.

Now it was my turn. Name called to proceed to window 8. A white lady with pointed nose, may be in her late 30s.

V. O - with a smile, Good afternoon
Me: Afternoon Ma'am
V. O: what do you do in Nigeria?
Me: I am a legal practitioner, specifically a prosecutor with xxxxxxxxxxxxxx. My duties include xxxxxxxxxxx
VO: Are you married?
Me: No
VO: Any Children?
Me: No
VO: Alright. I will be approving your visa..... Bla bla bla.
Me: All smiles. Thank you and do have a great day.

NB: No travel history ie virgin passport and I'll be 29 come this December.

Bottom line : It was all God's grace. I went for my interview fasting sha.

Congratulations.

Visa applications are usually pre-cleared before the applicant arrives for interview. This explains why some candidates have very short interview sessions while some others are drilled. If during the pre-clearance, a grey area is spotted on your DS form, it is usually flagged. The VO will now drill you more on that area to confirm or dismiss their doubt. This is why applicants must be careful when filling out their DS form as 80-85% visa decision is already made prior to interview. Be honest and consistent.

Congrats Lord001. Go and represent us aright. Best wishes!

This is totally not true. Nothing like pre-clearance grin

Do you fill if you have full funding on your DS 160?

Some candidates having short session depends on the V.O interviewing you. Some like asking much questions like the famous black American V.O grin

Please only advise on what you are sure of.

Though I agree with the bolded

Try PhD. It will be very hard to get fully funded Msc computer science. Most U.S. schools doesn't require MSc for PhD

We are all entitled to our opinion. You're free to take my opinion or move on. We are all here to give and take.

Pre-clearance does not mean your case has been decided as with some countries that operate nonappearance visa policy e.g Canada. US gives candidates a chance to make a case for themselves in person. Everything might look okay during pre-clearance, but if you bungle your oral interview, the interviewing officer may not be too kind to approve you. It was not plain miracle or happenstance that @Lord001 was only asked 3 nontechnical questions. He had already ticked the right boxes in his application package.

It is delusional to think that Consul Officers do not do background check on the details you submit to them.

It's your opinion but am saying that there is nothing like preclearance. Its good for applicants to be careful while filling their ds 160 as it contributes to the success of their interview.

It's better you differentiate it as your opinion than making it look like its what it is.

Hello people! Please i need assistance about an issue.
I went for my F1 student visa interview yesterday in Abuja; everything went well thanks to this forum.
The VO approved my visa and told me to have a nice study at the US. She handed me the white paper with the information on how to collect my passport and another small paper which stated congratulation on being approved F1 visa to US. The paper contained information on what to take along to the US when travelling.
To mt surprise, I checked my status and it has been showing administrative processing. Only for me to check it now and I saw REFUSED.
Please does anybody know what is wrong?
Thanks.

Did they collect your bank statement after the interview? Or it's a fully funded program?

Please drop your transcript along so we can guess what might be the issue.

VO: Okay! Flipped through the pages again for another 2 mins
VO: Who is so so so so(Mentioned my Dad's name)?
Me: My dad.
VO: Okay.
VO: Are you aware that the new policy is that united state embassy will be verifying all financial statements for F1 visa? and if there is an issue with the document, such applicant can be banned for up to 10 years. Do you still want to proceed?

One of the possibilities I see here is that, probably the V.O that checked your file again while verifying your statement and all might have noticed an inconsistency in your application and decided to refuse you or he/she might feel your dad's income is not sufficient enough for your studies. What's your Dad's balance and how much was quoted on your i20.

All these are based on assumptions, no one can say for sure what went wrong.

That's about 47,000$... It even covers both the 1st year and second year.

Well at this point I can't really say what went wrong. Maybe there are some irregularities on your ds 160 which the V.O saw. Please wait for your passport and see the note that comes with it.

Only 2 major questions were asked, with one bothering on your financial document. As such, I don't see anything wrong in the interview.
If you're so certain about the authenticity of your SOA, then you may have entered an inconsistent info in your DS form. If you filled that form yourself, this is time to retrospect into the information you supplied. It is possibly either of these said reasons.
