Hello, please read this and see if it make's any sense

Vo; Good morning
Me: Good morning sir (with a smile)
Vo : What ur study plan ?
Me: I plan to acquire a certificate in nursing of which I will be taking a 70 credit course at a period of 24 month's which include course's like Human Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Psychology, and the likes prior to my graduation I might be transferring to obtain a bachelor's degree or get back to my native country depending on my GPA and my guardian decision
Vo: Why associate degree?
Me: The reason is because it is the most affordable for me and my guardian for now and would give me an indepth knowledge of what I actually want within the period before transferring to the university courses,it is not really about associate degree but about the knowledge I can acquire within this period of studying
Vo: Why did u choose this school ?
Me: I choose Baltimore city community college because of the standard and content of education which this school could give
Vo: What are ur plan's after Graduation?
Me: I plan in transferring my credit course's to a university to gain more knowledge that would certify me to compete with my co-colleague if I come back to Nigeria,I plan coming back to the health sector for health restructuring, I want to contribute to my father's land growth,I want to work with team Achiever's with all the knowledge I would have acquired
Vo: When did u finished sec school?
Me: 2009
Vo: What have you been doing since then ?
Me: I couldn't make all my O'level result's which held me for 4 year's since my parent don't believe in giving aid's, so I have been going to tutorials ,so after I made my result I applied for a A'level program and have been in my Uncle's hospital getting familiar with nursing duties on completion of my program
Vo: Which other schools did you apply to ?
Me: I only choose Baltimore city community college
Vo: So you intend going for an associate degree then you will transfer ?
Me: Yes sir
Vo: I will be approving your visa, pick it up in the.....
Me : Thank u sir....

Please am open to suggestions and corrections.... Thanks to all

Yeah, I grab, a times even when you send a message to the schools asking them if they accept such, they won't give you a concrete response for reasons best known to them. I am enrolled for an MBA program (I also applied for MS programs and got admitted to one) and no separate fee for evaluation. I wasn't admitted into all but I was interviewed. I got admission from 3 of them.

Generally I'd advice anyone with HND to have the WES evaluation even though I did not use mine, I know I have it just incase....

OK... Thanks once again.

Why not mail the school's admission office and the program assistant to inquire if it will be possible to retake the GRE after getting to the US. You can give them valid reasons why you just can't take the test right now.
Sorry about all the heartaches jare. It happens to the best of us

I love your response, I think this is exactly what I would have done if I am having the same challenge.

I can't imagine such a situation, this is one of the reasons why one should secure admission to more than just one school.

Hope the interview is not as soon as November? Because you still have a lot of loopholes to cover up. Ain't a guru but I know when you are getting it wrong from personal experience garnered so far.

I know others will also contribute, but take this little piece along with what ever they add.

What happened to Why USA?

Why Nursing?

Also, the response to the question, "What's your study plan?" You are not to even say "depending on my GPA", who says that? I mean the VO might not wait for another second before handing over the blue paper to you. It definitely shows you ain't brilliant enough to study Medicine or whichever course it could be. Haba!! You must be convincing enough to show you are gonna make it top of the class, which I believe you can.

Also, how dare you say "depending on my guardian's opinion" ? If you can graduate top of the class, then you need not ask for your guardian's consent to continue, s/he will be glad to give his/her best to ensure you continue your studies, although I may not be fully right with this, but that remains my own opinion.

Why did you choose Baltimore?
Uhmmmm, any reputable institution will do what you just mentioned, I have seen several times 100kobo and Lagosismyhome, mentioning that you should try to be program specific when giving reasons for choosing a particular school. It shows you have done your research.

When did you finish secondary school?
Don't mention your parents' inability to make available what you think you need to succeed academically, that doesn't sound right to me, although it's a personal decision. But when did you write your A level exams? Will you be presenting it at the interview? Then, it means you were working at your uncle's hospital, spending some time to learn the basics of Nursing before taking your A level prior to applying to a school in the US. Isn't it?

Vo: So you intend going for an associate degree then you will transfer ?
Me: Yes sir

This last statement counters what you mentioned earlier, as you said you are not sure of your next move after graduation.
So, you need to be careful of what your responses as VOs try to play pranks on interviewees.

I ask again, hope you ain't going for the interview as soon as November, if yes, you need a lot of reformation and practice to get the visa issued, well, I just remembered you never mentioned "Who will be sponsoring you?

Success. I long to see your visa issued transcript.

MSU as in Moriri State University or what? grin
How do you expect us to decode what MSU is?
And check whether you exceeded the application deadline for international students.

Lol...sorry about the ambiguity, Mississippi state university and I sent the graduate coordinator a mail before I applied, he actually encouraged me to. I'm just wondering why it's taking so long to decide whether to admit me or not...and I exchanged a series of mails with their grad school during the application process

I am in severe pain and I need HELP because looking back through this whole journey, I am at the verge of giving up even when I know i have a great passion for this.

In July 2018, I was admitted into WVU but because of timing and immigration process, I deferred to Spring 2019 so I can get my 1-20 and other things.

August 2018, I received a notice of successful deferred admission and going through the whole process and getting done, I got a mail from my program assistant this morning that following one policy, I would need to retake the GRE test before I can continue with my admission because according to her "The state is requiring that students have a GRE score of  at least a 296..    You are only 6 points off." I had a 290

She attached the policy for me but God knows I am completely drained and do not have that work/GRE study strength again. What can I do? I am just too sad! After giving me admission then they come up with this when I am just having a prayer point of visa. Someone help!!!:

So sorry to hear this, i dropped wvu because of their mandatory official transcript (I'd rather go through the stress of official transcripts when I'm very certain I'll be attending) after sending both my GRE n TOEFL scores to them.. Wasting of score reporting slot; I was your silent fan, hoping you'd get an assistantship when you announced your admit; I think the last advice about mailing the school is still the best and if you inadvertently have to take the GRE, B.Y mafit offers free classes with the GRE fee; the class might help you with the scores you need and mitigate the stress of studying by oneself. Go easy on yourself it'll eventually end in praise

Thanks so much dear. I have tried to book a Skype meeting with the lady and she hasn't responded. She is obviously taking her time. That is already listed amongst my questions for her. I thought theses things only happen in Nigeria.

That's the link to B.Y Mafit's webpage. Their phone numbers and everything you need to get started is there.
Meanwhile I wouldn't advise you to be waiting for the Skype chat with the program assistant. Send a mail pending when the meeting can hold.
Ensure the admission office is copied too.

I think the obvious question is the legality of your husband's stay in the US? You can then post your proposed transcript and let the gurus scrutinize

If you were in my shoes. What will you do?

I'm currently a 300l engineering student here in Nigeria. I'm not even 19 yet. I recently got a full scholarship to the US to study any undergraduate course of my choice. I'm not paying anything (Even SAT registration fee) it's sponsored by a company here in Nigeria. Do I wait for 2 years to complete my Nigerian degree and forfeit the scholarship / just leave everything here and accept the scholarship?

I have made up my mind already grin grin grin but I just want to know what others would do in the same situation.

Also let me use this opportunity to encourage people. Don't stop trying. If you really want it, continue pursuing it. I've been looking for a full undergraduate scholarship since I left secondary school in 2015. I tried MasterCard twice, tried Edsap. Didn't get any but I just kept trying. I also applied for the BEA federal government scholarship twice, didn't get it(even though I don't know why till now).

Two months ago, I got a full scholarship. I'm currently preparing for my SAT in December (I was registered for free wink )

Keep trying people. Don't be discouraged.

While you prepare for your SAT, please do not forget to study alongside for your engineering degree. It is great you get a full ride but until you have your Visa at hand, please do not neglect your engineering degree.
My 2cents.

Visa Delayed July 17 2018 at Lagos embassy

Re fired... Got an appointment for August 16, Rescheduling thing happened, interview date was moved to 27th of August and the following went down.
I am doing this because I learnt a lot from this forum... from part 11 down to 13 and a bit of 14.

Abuja embassy window 3...

Me: Good morning Ma'am with a big smile

Vo: Good morning, pass me your passport and your I-20, she then asked what school are you going to?

Me: Im going to bowie state university for my masters in computer science, while saying that she was also nodding.

VO: How did you get to know about this school?

Me: It was recommended by my line manager at my former place of work, I also read a couple of online journals as regards my area
of specialization and the school kept being mentioned.

VO: So you work at XYZ Consulting firm?

Me: Pronounced it properly for her, then moved on to explain what my job is at the firm. I am an application support specialist plus a consultant

VO: Have you served?

Me: Yes, I served in 2015

VO: What are you going to be doing after this program?

Me: I will be returning to nigeria to continue working at my current place of work, but as a senior IT security specialist, she now asked for
a proof of my return, which i presented

VO: Who will be sponsoring?

Me: My uncle, went ahead to explain that he is business man, my maternal uncle and how he's being sponsoring since High school plus i will be
supporting with some savings from work, she then asked for his bank statement went through it and said she will be holding on to the bank statement and if found fraudulent i will be banned for 10 years and my response was: I can assure there's no issue.

VO: She then asked about my parents, I confidently told her they are doing great and that my mom is also involved with sponsoring this course
Then she goes with those words.... I will be approving your visa...you know the rest

Please note that the above does not fully cover all that transpired at the interview but will sure inform one of what to expect and how to go about it.

I will also like to mention that GOD is really important in all this, you need to be confident its okay to stammer but make sure you make your point. Also, you need to use technical terms in your field of study while explaining yourself. I dont know it all but GOD did it... It was only his grace. It is also important to dress simple and neatly... More like a clean shirt and some nice pants.

Finally, thank you to everyone that have taken their time to post one thing or the other as regards School and Visa, GOD bless you all.

So many potholes, not one, not two. I wouldn't know when you wish to apply. I would rather you're not in a hurry to do so. Concentrate more on compiled Transcripts and watch you spot the "potholes" yourself. This Thread is such a blessing and repository. It's a pity many have elected not to take the time to rummage through it.

Yours is still work in progress and with a little more effort, you'll get it right.

Hello everyone, my interview is next week which will be my second attempt. I was denied in August and the VO didnt tell me any reason but I made mistake in my I20, I signed the space for under 18 applicants. Could this be why I was denied? Can I tell the VO this for why I was denied the last time if she asked for what has changed?

Don't mention it. Ensure to tidy up with other aspects of your application and interview proper. Interviews are considered on the merits of your current form.

Oludare23:

Me: I will be returning to nigeria to continue working at my current place of work, but as a senior IT security specialist, she now asked for
a *proof of my return, which i presented*

Congrats bro. Pls which proof of return did you show? Which document, I need to know please

Hello people, is it a very difficult task for me to change from masters degree to phd while in US. That is if I have both admissions while am in Nigeria this year but the masters degree resumes January 2019 while the phd resumes next fall, and then I decide to start with the masters degree but will change to the phd if I eventually make up my mind that it is a better path for me. How difficult is it for me to switch from the masters to the phd while in the US ?
