Government should try and figure out its top priorities . What has the Government done about corruption and diversion of resources meant for all, project of 2 billion for example they will tell us it 20 billion even at that sometimes the project won't be delivered 100 percent and yet nothing will happen. How about disorderliness in the system. How about lack of planing and non implementation of brilliant policies.How about lack of productivity, we dont produce anything its only oil oil every month, share the oil money every month by joint revenue body minister of finance and all state commissioners and we think this is normal. If we don't fix all these nothing will change.

I said same two years' ago. They should be more specific though. Besides, the procreation of lots of children is not necessarily a Northern Nigeria phenomenon.



Southerners include Yorubas which have Muslims amongst them and polygamy is allowed. The remaining are Christians, so where in the bible is polygamy prohibited?

A situation where an illiterate driver with #30,000 monthly salary having 3 wives with 11 children all in the name of religion or culture, now complaining of bad economy. Meanwhile, his employer has a wife with just 3 children. Africans must learn when to do away with culture and religion holding us hostage but I doubt if the northerners will accept this especially the Muslim faithfuls. As Black people (remember Nigeria is the most populous black nation in the world)
we are looked at as different and inferior. We truly appear feeble and inferior both in
thinking and in managing our affairs.
We elect known thieves to run our affairs and even kind enough to sympathise with
them when they are punished. Former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Joshua
Dariye took tax payers money to London, it was Ecological fund for his State. In his
luxury hotel suite, he was doling out 50 pound notes to anyone who came. The poor
people of Plateau were dying in agony of diseases and poor infrastructure. He was
promptly arrested by the British police and huge sums of foreign currencies seized
from him. The smart guy managed to escape back home! Home sweet home, the
land of the foolish! Dariye was later rewarded by his people by voting him as a
Senator.
When some of them are apprehended overseas and chastised, we welcome them
with fanfare. After all it is our money they stole, not theirs. Ibori was celebrated on
his return from British jail. He was met by the first citizen of Delta State and others.
Our heads of states stash monies in foreign countries and we have to beg for the
return when they die.
We knowingly elect leaders that are derelict in character and we go to church and
mosques to pray for miracles or even hate our friends or relatives who have made it
but can’t help us. We seem to be different.
There is something genuinely wrong with our race. Our mindset is warped. In 2014,
our former Finance Minister was begging us to save in case oil prices crash but we
quickly rushed to the courts to safe us from a woman who didn’t want us to ‘chop’
the future of our children! Aren’t we the cursed race? Our values are warped.
Last time I was discussing with a close friend, he plainly told me that the system
God designed for us in Nigeria is corruption, he said we were better off during the
corrupt years and he wanted corruption brought back. The crook who can buy votes
wins , we prefer to vote for thieves so long he can pay his way through. Decent
hardworking people have no intrinsic worth in our society. Everything is upside down.
Today, we have someone who is not a saint and is probably surrounded not by
saints, in fact some of his lieutenants are not saints, however, they have been able
to arrest the drift into chaos, they are massively building infrastructures all over the
country.
Revamping forgotten national assets and building real growth, empowering farmers
and helping indigenous businesses. PDP years hastened or couldn’t prevent the
death of Nitel,
Nigerian Airways,NRC,NMT,, Oshogbo steel rolling mill, Aladja steel, Ajaokuta steel,
National Oil,Dunlop, Nig textile mill, Alscon, Bacita sugar, Tate and Lyle, Ilorin,Iwopin
paper mill, Jebba paper mill, Oku Iboku paper mill, Volkswagen, PAN, Kaduna Textile
and many more.
Buhari fought members of his own party like Bukola Saraki, Rev Jolly Nyame,
Senator Joshua Dariye etc, But we don’t want all of that. Osun State is a good
example. Osun people are angry that their government spent all the money on
infrastructures, building roads, hospitals, schools, etc they did not accuse Aregbesola
of stealing, only that he misplaced his priorities, hence they preferred an unserious
person, a dancer! I was actually thinking they would go for an Omisore, but NO, the
past 8 years was too serious, they wanted some fun!
We are a different race, the least of all races! The least developed, the enslaved
race, the race without the mindset to be great. Though we desire to be great but we
are incapable to do what makes other races great. We envy other races who are
making progress, but all we can do is look at them with envy.
We are proud to travel there. We pray and fast to live in their countries but we are
not able to do what turned their countries around. We love the good life, flashy cars,
phones, jets etc but we can’t make any of them. Will the likes of Atiku or Bukola or
Ibori be celebrities in America, Europe, China or Asia? NO.
Our courts are too weak to successfully prosecute the supper rich like Atiku, Bukola,
Ibori and others. Our Judges can’t refuse million dollar bribes.
Though they bribe their ways through the courts, the international communities
cannot be fooled. They are watching us.
Nigerians, if you hand the key to your house over to a rapist and then travel, leaving
your beautiful wife and daughters at his mercy, whatever happens, have courage to
blame no man but yourself.
Buhari has steered the ship of this country away from disaster, Nigerians are again
free to take the key from him and give to Atiku. Remember the Jefferson corruption
saga involving Atiku.
The White race in Italy has jailed their own son involved in the Malabu oil fraud in
which Atiku and other Nigerians were named, the Black race is just about to crown
our own son king!

From the 1970s China had a "one child" policy which India later adopted though not as hard as China.
The policy was relaxed in 2016 or so.
China's very strong communist government realised quickly that if it must gain a reckoning in the international community, going by that fact that it had no solid minerals or Oil deposits (just a large population and its ability to grow its hydro electricity), then it must find ways to curb population growth - which helped it grow its cheap labour base for the industrialised West.

This is unfair nah. Where is gender balance in this?. This must also be applied to men too if population control is going to be effective.

This is actually good but not where to start from, once the economy is okay and people can feel secure knowing even at old age their basic need can be taking care of, naturally the tendency to over procreate will diminish. If the government fail to set out and undertake clear economic recovery plan and pursuit it vigorously with a sense of purpose, jumping to enact and implement a policy like this will be tantamount to leaving leprosy to fester while doing everything possible to kill the ringworm. When economic performance and growth is robust and people are fully engaged or gainfully employed, there'll not be time enough to raise a large family, on the other hand once the economy is in the reverse gear and present hopelessness as the only alternative, sex usually comes as a consolidation drive to keep life going, the result is what we have all over the place. The bottom-line is that our failure as a Nation lies squarely with our leaders who have shown lack of willingness to make the country a place for all to thrive and exhibit their potentials and not this lame duck excuse of people having too many children.

The problem with this kind of law is the enforcement and penalty if breached. To me this whole thing might be a solution in one way only for another problem to crop up in another way. Just like solving a problem to create another problem. Many of us here have not sat down to look at the law and how it can be implemented and the consequences at the end.
The issue is if this law is to be implemented won't it encourage polygamy, baby mama tin, abortion, infanticide and so on. Merely going through China's own history of this kind of law, the consequences it brought on board was nothing good to write home about as the law in the country resulted into abortion, infanticide and humiliation of the victims of the law.

In all, the best solution is targeted location orientation and sensitization programme.
Looking at Nigeria there are many cultures and believe systems that foster high rate of population growth. We can work on these believes and cultural systems to reduce the rate at which people give birth.

For example in the North many give birth anyhow with the believe that the child would turn an almajiri and fend for himself or herself. They also have a polygamous system fuelled by their religion. So in all Almajiri menace must be discouraged and criminalised. No roaming of children on the street begging again. Any child not in school during school hours must be arrested. Gradually that almajiri system would die down. Also the polygamy system should be discouraged and made unattractive by the society and government through orientation. Media too can help by condemning it. People with more than one wife should be made to be seen as someone without marriage integrity. Girl Child/forceful marriage should be criminalized also.

In the South especially the Yorubas they have this culture of looking for a male child and can continue looking for it till the number of children reaches 8 or more. So there is need to orientate people and the society must place a high value on the female children to discourage this.
Also baby mama should be discouraged and made unattractive. The society and media should campaign against it to make prey of this stupid act feel ashame of themselves. We shud not be hyping them irrespective of their position. We should see them as irresponsible people like the way we see Gays and Transgenders in our society today. Family planning and Marriage seminars should be part of what would be conducted at our NYSC orientation camps.
This result of this solution might not bring down the population at a high rate but gradually it would work out. Changing people's attitude/believe system is one of the hardest things to do in this world but it is still one of the best bet for achieving a sane and productive society rather than making a law that can lead to many social vices.
