NIGERIA STOCK MARKET GENERAL COMMENT- SOME EQUITIES SHOULD CARRY THE SIGN “BUYER ARE LIKELY TO DIE YOUNG” For today I want to dwell on the above. I wonder with our knowledge of Fundamental and Technical analysis, we are still putting our money in investments that will likely kill us financially. What I see is that we have disregard simple things, we want to do complex calculations (free cashflow per share, Elliot wave count etc). When the investment itself is a bad one. Looking at the financial for Unity bank below, what do you want to gain as an investor, can this company ever pay dividend or are we just relying on the greater fools theory (that when we buy something, even if it is a senseless purchase another greater fool will pay a higher price to bail us out), we all have to forgive ourselves as we have been fools at one point in time or the other. But thank god that the fools are reducing due to people who can explain complex things in simple terms and we having the humility to align with the simple solution. Using jus the B-A3>0, I have been able to ignore so many seemingly good companies but which in the real sense are nor worth investing in, except I am prepared to lose my money (can you believe me that when I look at our Fidelity Bank result, it was just above to meet the above equation be whiskers, therefore, I believe the bank is on the way to becoming a blue chip but is not there yet there (therefore, I may not rush in investing in the bank, even if majority are shouting Buy, Buy or if it is a stock like Neimeth, Livestock Feeds etc is it BYE, BYE to my money? I feel like putting that RONALDO THE FOOTBALLER picture asking us all “why Now”, that picture we use to see him like shouting at the refree (we are that assume that we are the Referee). See the basic 1 investment education class equation below. I am sure we can solve the equation ourselves, or even as our children to review company results and tell us companies worth investing in. Look forward to more simple equations like this. For today expected High is 32,320.88 low at 31,320.54 In view of the fact that some additional information on our postings will now be added, you can check our twitter handle “Target Technical Analysis” and also look forward to our book that will give a simple equation for interpreting the income statements know what you can investing in by just looking without any complex/time wasting calculation, you are done within 3 minutes of looking at any Income statement. Caution: This is for information purpose only. Data used are assumed to be correct. However, you may want to verify the data from an appropriate source. Also, Institutions can afford to suffer big losses without going burst compared with an individual, you cannot follow them blindly (you need to at least have some knowledge/your own plan). N:B 1. Due to the fact so many new people are coming to this forum and may not know this use of following the “big monies that move markets”, I will be indicating why/how to use the information. This will be a permanent future of my post to reduce some comments which may prevent the people that understand the system from confusion by people who have not followed how this started. My comment for today for anybody who doubts the efficacy of following the fund is to look at my recent recommendations for the past 2 months. 2. The fund will still hold some equity, the terms of service states this. Thus no matter the condition of the market, it will not liquidate to Zero. This is an equity fund investing in the Nigeria market. 3. You cannot bear losses like the fund. The pocket of the fund is too deep. Therefore, as an individual you are not suppose to be in the market during the stock market crash. Before or during the crash, reduce your holding. 4. If you are seeing this type of data on MSCI for the first time. You may need to verify the figures. Go to my previous posts (https://www.nairaland.com/yok/posts), you will see the various sources where the data can be verified.

currentprice:Very scary Chart. TA is saying not yet time to be in the market, if you are in it expect more down side. FA is saying if you are already in this market at this LEVEL ( Undervalue) don't sell your good stocks hold it. ![]() |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by DeRuggedProf: 10:27am On Nov 02, 2018 |
Agbalowomeri:This is meant to be understood within a very tight context. It is not every time your enemy offend you that you rush to war - TIMING. Chose your wars too. Not every enemy must be fought. Some will fade away with time, saving your weapons. Even the U.S does not act that way for very obvious reasons. The truth remains that TA tells you when to strike that sound stock (TA cant point a sound stock for you). TA is a friend to every stock. FA chooses its friends. FA gathers intelligence for smart TA wars. |

I have learnt a lot from Warren Buffet and Benjamin Graham. With a few quotes, I understand that it is not easy, but investing to make money can be simple. The problem is all this over analysis syndrome. I have played with a little bit of forex as a noob and went on to play with cryptocurrencies, I am still standing tall and I am green. Was it easy? No, but the basics was simple. If you remove emotion, you will make it. What people consider loss in this NSE makes me laugh though. This is the easiest space to be in, trust me. Easy to understand the intrinsic value, unlike where I come from. Warren Buffets dislikes cryptocurrencies, but the irony is what I learnt from him helped me there. Funny right? Never ever forget the basics. A good business will always have a good stock. Are there bad businesses people are making money from? Yes, but if you don't like losing money you shouldn't invest in bad business, because one day time will catch up to them. From what Benjamin Graham taught, you have to have a margin of safety, but many people confuse this with Book value. Most stocks with low price to book value are value traps, as can be seen with other metrics. What I mean is the fact that people still invest in Businesses with large assets and low net profits relatively to other businesses. This is a bad idea. Just look at the junk that is now GSK, and it's not even still below the book value. ROA is a very important metric, too much debt is also not good. Buy stocks you plan to hold for a very long time as they become less risky the longer you hold them. See this stocks as owning part of the business and not a lottery gambling ticket or all this speculative stuffs most of this traders do. Also, trust me if people could see the volume of land sold daily and the volatility people would say the same thing they say about about stocks directed to land. They will say it's volatile. Does it make sense to sell your 1 plot of land you bought for 1 million naira because another person sold his for half a million? Perspective! That's what people need in this market. As a final 1 kobo, if you have done your homework and believe an asset is undervalued, then you should be happy to buy more if the value drops. If it's a good business and the value drops below it's actual value, you should be very very happy to buy more. Is that not why you all talk about Bonanza here? Buying stocks at cheaper prices? I agree, easier said than done, but this is not cryptocurrencies, the volatility is still much better. Far easier to do evaluations, there are even regulations, though not perfect but trust me coming from the crypto world this place is heaven. I feel so safe here. This place feels like buying Treasury bills compared to where I came from. With all this said, I will leave you all with some powerful quotes to back some of what I have said up... "The stock market is filled with individuals who know the price of everything, but the value of nothing." - Phillip Fisher "In investing, what is comfortable is rarely profitable." - Robert Arnott "Every once in a while, the market does something so stupid it takes your breath away." - Jim Cramer "The individual investor should act consistently as an investor and not as a speculator." - Ben Graham And my most favorite of all, that people always forget time and time and again even though we all know it and quote it... "I will tell you how to become rich. Close the doors. Be fearful when others are greedy. Be greedy when others are fearful." - Warren Buffett There is a reason this is last. Think about what is currently happening guys, think. This foreign investors leaving problem is not a problem. It's a an advantage you should be happy about. TGIF! Happy weekend in advance guys. ![]() |

GonFreecss1:Looks like you forgot to include this quote by the same Warren Buffet 1. Market can stay irrational longer than you can remain solvent. 2. Investing in an emerging markets (Nigeria inxlusive) is highly risky. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GonFreecss1: 11:02am On Nov 02, 2018 |
Jejebabaa:Oh! True. That is why it is never a good idea to invest in more than what you can't afford to lose. Also instead of timing, investing slowly once you believe something is undervalued is a good idea. But the truth is this, investing during the bear markets is a good way to make money. That is the best time to buy good companies at a fair price. No matter how good a business, you don't want to pay too much for it. |

Agbalowomeri:I don arrive and you know the story too well.FA vs TA , we need both but I'll rate FA 60 and TA 40 over 100 Use FA to look for fundamentally-good-undervalued stock and use TA to look for a good entry price but make your final move base on what FA tells you.. Tho when FA tells you a stock is undervalued, buying at any price is a great deal but because we want cheaper, we look and wait for cheap price and what they call “strong support” and that’s where I got problem with TA because e no get one support.. you go dey hear if it falls below 5, 3 is the next support after 3, 2 is the next. "sometimes" while you wait for next next support market don rally leave you because no be only you FA tell say the stock dey undervalued. Anybody that uses TA on a fundamentally bad stock is neither a trader nor and investor, that person is a gambler. |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Nobody: 12:59pm On Nov 02, 2018 |
@GonFreecss1 This is the message I have been preaching on dz forum. traders have misled investors by incorporating the Concepts of TA and FA which does not reflect the true status of >60% of listed companies in NSE. Who can tell us the true capital inflows of 50% of the listed companies? Many of the companies declared money realized from assets sales as profit, dz builds up the inflow and subsequent alter the true PE ratio, and dz mislead investors in anticipating higher growth for the affected companies. If it were not the Nigeria factors, A company like sky bank should have had PE ratio of zero before the suspension (medicine after death) A bank like diamond should have a zero PE The bank is now on a mission to sell assets and declare the proceeds as profits to investors. NSE has defiled all known fundamental principles of investing and financial independence. In my view, winners don't quit, quitters don't win either. The way out is to ignore all the emotional and confusing analysis by the so called Wisemen that know everything about NSE. Keep investing in companies that are well structured (management) Companies that have the interest of minority shareholders. Such institutions will deliver at the long horizon. |

It is really unfortunate that we are in this position. This is what we get when regulators wait for things to go bad before taking actions. Godlylifeoneart: |

Godlylifeoneart:I want to ask you a question on the bold PLEASE it’s just a question oo.. I’m still learning.. Where was money used in purchasing an asset gotten from ? Do you know how much it was bought? Think you need to first find out if the money used in buying such asset was taken from a profit that was declared.. if not then they have every right to consider it a profit after selling. And btw they’ve got to be a profit from the sells of any asset which should be declared. Take diamond bank for example, such asset in such country can’t be sold at loss.. whatever was made on it should be declared.. Just Incase i no make sense lol ignore this post all together.. ![]() |
