Supposing I publish an advert on a National Newspaper disowning my parents stating these reasons, and then attach it along with my application to show the V.O that I do not have anything to do with my parents because I don't want their actions to affect me my chances of getting an education in America. Do you think it will sell? Do you think it will make the V.O judge my case for I am, and not my parents?

Don't stress it, just be careful and hopeful about it. Be sincere that your uncle was trying to get them a GC and that is the last you know because you had to reduce communication since they don't like your wife that much.

hello people, a bank statement to be presented at the embassy should be for how many months, from what duration to what, for instance if visa interview is Dec. 3.
Your statement should cover at least 6 months. You can print 3 days to your appointment.

Hello Gurus... Please, I need your input on this:

I got admit + funding for an MS. "I have an intent of progressing to a PhD after my MS before returning to Nigeria"... Is it dope to tell the VO this (when asked plan after study) or will it show migration intent?

Thanks. I await your responses..

Why don't you focus on one thing first . Focus on the msc and the value it would bring when you come back to Nigeria or if you mention phd. Be sure to end it by what value it would bring to Nigeria

Personally, I won't advice you say this since the funding does not cover the PhD program. By reason of logic, you may need to violate your visa conditions to support your next program. Sponsorship would be their primary interest here (since we are not sure how you'll survive the extended stay), and then migration tendencies (just maybe).

I feel it is about how one plays one's study plans. I have seen someone who told a Visa officer he isn't coming back to Nigeria as Nigeria does not have adequate equipment to carry out research in Cancer Biology and the VO agreed with him. Above all, it is a chat and one just need be confident about one's responses. Just my thoughts.

I agree quite frankly.
There goes a rider to your stance on this matter- the ability of the candidate to present rational and robust argument during the chat. But for candidates who are unable to sway the argument to their gain, my advice for them- don't mention PhD!

My dear, rather than do this, please avoid mentioning them since they are not your sponsors. If the VO should ask, just say they are old and retired. Somethings are also better not said especially in a public forum as this all because of a Visa. Also, going to the extent of having a newspaper publication dispensing them would only pose more very sensitive and tactical questions from the VO that I am sure you might not be able to defend. Cast that thought out brother! People got their visas without their parents too so that's that. Good luck to you.

Pls. I've been given an admission into one of university in the US for masters program and the resumption date is on the 2nd of January 2019. I'm thinking I might not be able too meet up with the time frame as per the visa stuff. I just want to ask if I can defer the admission and would I need to fill the I 20 form? And would I need to still go for the interview at the US embassy?

It takes a few minutes to get visa approved. Some people here have also not gotten their I-20s. You can use a courier service so latest next week, you will get your I-20 sent to you from the school. You can request for an emergency appointment and get a date in December.
It's still possible if you want to go for spring.
Some of our bosses here got their visas approved a few days to their resumption e.g imperiouxx and uncle gboyegaD. Someone even got his visa three days before resumption, he picked it up and from there to the airport so if you really want to go for spring there is still time otherwise, defer.

It depends on you

Please I have a question
What is the most accurate answer to this question
"Tell me about this course /program"

Is it to tell the VO the duration of the course, credit units and the other courses that will be done or

How the course will be useful to Nigeria when you come back. i.e what the degree will do for you.
There might not be enough time to talk about both so which one nails the question better.
Thank you
it's about the credits, duration and co.
