The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has reacted to Aremu Afolayan’s Instagram video where he blasted airport officials and the government.

The Nollywood actor,whose sister was subjected to a sad experience at the airport by immigration officers, slammed President Buhari and Governor Ambode of Lagos State.

According to Aremu Afolayan, his sister who is a French citizen was not allowed to fly because the Manager of Ethiopian airline said he wasn’t comfortable with her passport. The actor who blamed President Buhari and Ambode who according to him can override the stress.

Reacting to the viral video, FAAN released a public statement notifying everyone that access to the terminal is free.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) hereby notifies all passengers and other airport users that access to the terminal building is free. All passengers and airport users are therefore advised not to give money to any ‘airport official’ to gain access into the terminal.”

It's not enough to just make simple statements, do something about it.

I had the exact same experience as this Aremu Afolayan guy at MMIA in January this year.

I was yet to get out of the car at the departure terminal when a policeman approached me to find him something. I weak!

Then those at the entrance denied my sister entry into the airport. I was like... What nonsense! Since when?
Then they sensed I could be a frequent traveller and said...since yesterday. I had to cause trouble before they allowed her in. The policemen later said I should have settled him. I just shook my head in shame.

In fact, Lagos airport is just a market place.

Inside the airport, I had about ten different staffs trying to get money from me. From the airline staff, to customs, immigration, several unnecessary search points, loitering errand boys, toilet cleaners, etc. all trying to make you miss your flight unless you settle them. They always make me board just few minutes before the plane doors are closed.
Corrupt souls that are never satisfied with their salaries!

The minister of Interior, Dambazau must implement reforms in all his agencies(police, immigration, customs, prison, etc.) as almost all his personnel are greedy thieves. Place cameras watching them one by one and sack anyone caught asking for money.

I love being a private citizen and living a private life, but to join govt and fight these corrupt souls out of business come dey hungry me nowadays.

This is good news social media outburst sometimes works and it put the government agencies on their toes...everytime I follow families to the airport one stupid looking police officer will stand up and say u can't go in and I asked him, even if I go in, will I fly when I don't have ticket, passport and visa am just trying to help my bro with his luggage pending the time he is done with check in that's all...but now we can go in without harassment

Corruption is deeply rooted in Nigeria. It is like the Police telling you that bail is free. Get arrested and know that you will bribe officers to buy food, your visitors will also bribe them to see you and "I no follow" is N10,000 bail.
