Religion has never favoured women.
A simple Google search on verses and articles on how Abrahamic religions see women would make you dumbfounded.
When I was religious reading a bible passage on how women needed to keep shut in the church made me begin to ask questions.
The way religion sees women as second class beings was one of the reasons I left it .
Funny enough women seem to be more religious than men.And a visit to some religious houses you would see how the population of women in these worship centers supercedes that of men.

At least, in Christianity today, not in the olden testament, Jesus came to liberate us from all manner of slavery, he never demeaned women rather saved them.

Women were ahead in all his doings on earth, he never condemned women.
He came and abolished the laws of the old testament and gave us freedom.

Any misogynist verse you read in the new testament were written by paul.
And he always indicates that it's not of God but of him.
Meaning, the instructions weren't from God rather of him.

Actually I was talking to my mother the other day and the topic of gender roles came up. She's a strong Christian.

She mentioned that in the Bible it says that the woman's curse (when they get kicked out of the garden of eden) is to lust after the power men have, but that men will always rule over them.

He came and abolished so many things of the old testament.
Even, his coming alone was to liberate us from the shackles of those laws.

And Paul wrote those things when he was writing to other churches after the death of Christ.

Actually, in every setting, there must be a leader.
Even among men, they are still those that overseers the affairs of how things should be .. That doesn't mean that the leaders are greater than those they lead..
It's just a way of creating a workable environment between the groups involved..
Orderliness is a very important feature in any setting..
In the case of man, woman & God's relationship, man & woman are equal, the yorubas & igbos are equal, the Efik & the Hausas are equal, the rich & poor are equal...
But among these groups I listed, there must be a leader to create a harmonious & orderly environment...
The role is more suitable to the male in terms of sense of leadership, assertive, courage & ability to face fear should in case there is need for it...

It's difficult to admit it, unless you're sincere to yourself, woman actually lack those qualities..
They can develop with time, but in a man, it comes naturally...
Hence, why male assumes the leadership role, not that they are more important than female before God..
