That will be almost impossible... Interview is 3rd of January. Sighs

You can contact your school and inform them of your visa dilemma. They will give you an extension for your date of arrival. With that you shouldn't have problems both at your visa interview and at the port of entry.

Okay. To get an expedient appointment, you need to have everything ready. This includes confirmation of SEVIS payment, MRV receipt, I-20, and all other documents. First, look at the program start date on your i-20 and check if it is less than 60 days. If it is, then proceed to picking a date. Pick the earliest available date at the consulate you'd like to be interview. When you're done, go back to the mainpage and request a feedback. There, state what you want...then attach scan copies of supporting documents. You will be notified if you are eligible or not. This is cool when you can't find suitable date or your resumption date is very close. I trust you understand me? If you still need additional guideline, write to me here

God bless your endeavour.

Please while filling the DS 160 form, is it advisable to declare having a brother In the US under relatives section or is this a red flag as some people claimed?

Please list it oooo. I listed my sister and it never stopped anything and I have had to list her each time I renewed my visas. It doesn't affect you negatively in any way I believe.

Keep Calm during the F1 interview. If you are not the type who listen attentively, make sure you exhibit this quality during the 2-3 minutes interview. For those of you who have been recently denied, don't blame yourself for it all. Sometimes, it is not you or even what you say. Anyhow it is, don't give up easily on what you start intentionally as some dreams will not come true without fighting and pushing.

I just started reading this thread page by page and the early impression is the GRE is a must to be successful at the embassy. I don't understand.
I got admitted into University of North Texas, Denton health informatics program without the GRE and I am preparing for my interview.
Does this mean it is not a good school?
Most schools don't require GRE for their health informatics program.
University of North Carolina, Charlotte said i don't need to submit a GRE score since I am doctor and hold a terminal degree.
Indiana University Purdue Indianapolis doesn't need the GRE.
University of Michigan doesn't need it.
Nova Southeastern university doesn't need it either.
Marshall university West Virginia used to ask for GRE but recently scrapped it
Although some schools like University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee makes the GRE compulsory for their health informatics program compulsory. Does it make it better than the other schools that don't need the GRE?
Or does applying to any of the school i earlier mentioned makes me a lazy student?

Go mean Green, go mean Green (3ce); Go mean Green!
UNT is great, Denton is a nice city, you sure would love it. I am wondering if your program wouldn't be in the Fort-Worth campus. Let me know if you need any help.

Book that January 12 then request for expedient. You cannot request for expedient appointment until you first book the earliest appointment date available. That is the requirement!

Apply for an Expedited Appointment

Overview

If you have an unforeseen travel need as per one of the criteria listed below, you may qualify for an expedited appointment depending on availability at the Embassy or Consulate. It is important to ensure you meet all the criteria, because applicants are only allowed to create one expedited appointment request.

Qualifications

Before you apply for an expedited appointment, you must ensure that you have documentary evidence to prove the urgency. If it appears during your visa interview that you misrepresented the reasons for expedited travel, such facts will be noted on your case file and may adversely influence the outcome of your visa application. All applicants requesting an expedited appointment are required to first pay visa fees for a regular visa appointment. Applicants who are granted an expedited appointment but subsequently refused a visa at either the U.S. Embassy in Abuja or the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos will not be allowed to utilize this option in either location to obtain another expedited appointment.

Students or exchange visitors

Purpose of travel is to begin or resume a valid program of study in the United States within 60 days when no regular visa appointments are available. This option is limited only to students and exchange students who are within 60 days of their start date. It is also limited only to applicants who have not been refused a visa within the last six months at either the U.S. Embassy in Abuja or the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos.

Essential documentation:

Original Form I-20 or DS-2019 indicating start date of program within 60 days.

Applying for an Expedited Appointment

Step 1

Pay the visa application fee.

Step 2

Complete the Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application (DS-160) form.

Step 3

Schedule an appointment online for the earliest available date. Please note that you must schedule an appointment before you can request an expedited date. At the time you schedule your appointment, you will see an onscreen message showing the earliest available appointment date, which includes expedited appointments. Accordingly, you may find that it is not necessary to request an expedited appointment because there are no earlier dates available. If you wish to proceed with requesting an expedited appointment, then complete the Request Form or contact the call center to request assistance. Please be sure to note the criteria you believe qualifies you for an expedited appointment. Once you have submitted your request, please wait for a response from the Embassy, which will come via email.

Step 4

If the Embassy approves your request then you will receive an email alerting you to schedule your expedited appointment online. Please understand that the call center cannot schedule your expedited appointment for you, but agents are able to assist you if questions arise. Should the Embassy deny your request for an expedited appointment, you will be notified of the denial by email and you should keep your existing appointment.

Note: The email confirming or denying your request will come from no-reply@ustraveldocs.com. Some email applications have rules which filter unknown senders into a spam or junk mail folder. If you have not received your email notification, please look for the message in your junk and spam email folders.

Yes, I know that. But appointment has been scheduled already and he changed his mind. On his profile, a prompt is showing if he cancel the appointment, MRV fee will be paid again to book another appointment.
