Lolss, this is exactly why most people are going against the publication so that their will be opportunity to dress smart and meet the high and mighty.

Nigerians, when are we really going to learn. This publication would have hit the right head since, we are here waiting. We will wait cos I am patiently hopeful...

At this point, we rely solely on God. Because he has the final say.

Even if my idea doesn't add up doesn't mean you should indirectly tag me as some 1 who's planning to dress smart to get the job. At least, I'm bringing idea that may benefit others. I'm not selfish here.

In my recollections, you applied to work with the oil and Gas industry so there's nothing wrong in winning and dinning with those above you in the industry in any slitest opportunity.

You are welcome my dear, it's very sad, that's Nigeria for you. I agree with you totally. Senators and some few big wigs too are very angry with DPR management but they are been promised 2nd batch. We're all unhappy.

Good people, Xtruzz is not your problem in this matter; the writing has been on the wall since the beginning but we decided it was best to exercise blind faith that was impervious to reason/logical action.

With the despicable way DPR’s management handled this recruitment, Xtruzz has made a good suggestion. I personally would not be a party to such but it doesn’t change the fact that its a good suggestion for a bad situation.

There is no reason put down her suggestion or complain, If you are willing, do what she suggested.

Nigerian Factor seriously plays a part in any recruitment in Nigeria, this is more so in very lucrative agencies like DPR... The system doesn't favor the ordinary man nd the most sad thing about it, is not that it is happening all over but that their is no end in sight in the whole system

Sometimes we shld, I think, take some information being shared here beyond the circumference of this ongoing recruitment.
But before that, the incoherence of some 'ideologues' here wld prompt a rational individual to ask, what exactly do we want?
When we're asked to pray, we wld say, 'like prayer is going to change the way of the connected'. Which invariably means that some of us have faith/confidence neither in God we pray to nor the prayers we offer to him.
Then take the road to get connected, we wld say, 'is that the way to get the job?'
Habah, what exactly do we want?
Back to my first paragraph, whether one is working in oil and gas or not, the importance of contacts shouldn't be undermined by any chance. We shouldn't narrow her idea of bringing this info forward to the sentiment we have gravelled around the root of this recruitment.
The day the driver of a top figure assists your entire community to get a project done, you wld know the importance of knowing him. The day a secretary or PA denies you access to a top figure that you're in 'chronic' need of his assistance, you wld know the importance of having at least little contact with that secretary or PA before hand. Gate keepers, office cleaners, personal drivers, assistants etc all these individuals are always helpful when you're working towards getting sth from any relevant organisation.
Knowing the friends, colleagues etc of those you think wld assist you tomorrow is a plus. Where and how do we get these contacts? The answer is our individual choice to make.
Finally, even if we are working in DPR already, the manner with which some of us respond to this conference information shows that we wldnt make good use of the opportunity.
Organizational Conferences are impactful in all ramifications.
@Xtruz, any ideas that wld help regarding the conference, plz share.
Good luck to everyone.

nice write-up. Indeed, networking is not and has never been a bad idea. So whomever wants to go thru that route is on track (not that it will make any diff to DPR 2016 recruitment, but just for the sake of having some more contacts you can build a relationship with for the future).

As for the inconsistencies/incoherence, i think you didn't capture the real incoherence. The real incoherence lies in

1. Parading Mr Tata as an angelic being whose stand on integrity is unwavering. If integrity and merit is/was ever paramount, there is absolutely no need to engage in ass-kissing. There is absolutely no reason to attend a conference only to hope to have his ear. With events so far, has Mr Tata lives up to the sterling description we were deluged with from all corners? All have seen the reality. First, twas that the first batch had stakeholder candidates so that they could have the merit candidates unhindered in second batch. The handwriting is/has been on the wall for any realist to see tey tey what would/is to happen in the second batch. SAME! which leads me to the second incoherence

2. I have been privileged to conduct two interviews in my capacity as a RM. Imagine, I have shortlisted my preferred candidates, Aremu, Tola, and Bisi. For the sake of this analogy, these three candidates are children of top pple, as in the 5G connection pple. I know that these are the candidates that will get the job, yet i come on nairaland to tell Afam, TiTi and Gbenro that some there are 3 candidates that from all indications will get the job o, but that Afam, TiTi, and Gbenro shd keep praying. What could be more incoherent than that? Honestly, even at the point of application, i didnt get my hopes up, cos i know this is Nigeria, and a system in disorder cannot really produce any order. you cant give what you dont have. What GREATLY pissed me off about this one, is the silly facade and shouts of merit even with compelling happenings that show otherwise.

Well, I believe that it is our responsibility to do the right things, demand for accountability, choose the right leaders based on equity, fairness, and meritocracy, elect the right pple...anything out of it is just wishful thinking....not sorry to say

Thanks @Brocksamson for the cake gift you sent to DPR, you are truly one of the good ones. Yu at least tried to do something, your first idea was shutdown, and you chose a lighter approach...all selfless. Thumbs up bro. Abeg no need for publication again o. It is pointless now. I wish everyone the best as we finish the year and brace up for another. LAST POST #dropsmic. lol

For a very long while, I have stopped commenting on this thread for many reasons. However, your post caught my attention. It is unfortunate that those who have a cap do not have the head to wear it on and those who have head do not have a cap to compliment.
The conference in question is the HSE Biennial Conference held once in two years for the oil and gas industry. In attendance will be all major stakeholders in the oil and gas industry. This year's edition is sponsored by Oriental Energy, Tecon Oil, PTI, FHN, Seplat, Eterna, Oando, NewCross, Eroton Exploration, First E&P, West Atlantic, Energia, Midwestern, Conoil, Addax, Chevron, NPDC, Seepo, OVH Energy, AMNI, PEF, Aiteo, Platform Petroleum, Shoreline Natural Resources, Moni Pulo Petroleum, Scorpio Drilling and others.
Just like you said, networking and building contacts for the future is a sensible thing to do. Not only will you get to meet people who can mentor you but also people who may be useful to you in the nearest future. DPR recruitment has blinded most of you, that you cannot even reason that other stakeholders like TOTAL, SHELL, SAIPEM, EXXONMOBIL, CHEVRON etc. will be there and that may be an excellent opportunity to market your self. If I were an employer, I would definitely acknowledge anyone who goes out of his way or does the extraordinary just to be recognized or considered. Some of you think you are the best in your field whereas there are a thousand people better than you even with more determination, doggedness and "street-sense".

I cannot start telling you about how building contacts has helped me immensely even on my current job. I am in Abuja presently and if not for my work, I would have done anything to be at that conference. If you are a DPR hopeful especially for the SHE department and this conference does not interest you, I must say you do not deserve the DPR job at all.

For those that will be in attendance, help me say a big hi to Dr. Musa Zagi, my mentor and someone I would have loved to work with at the SHE department.

PS: For the records, Xtruzz and Elbangeez are correct about the current state of the recruitment.

While a kid, I was told, 'borrow one more bullet from a shut that wouldn't profit you and add to the one that wld grant you some profits'
To those who wld still not understand, the idea is to make a move that wld profit anyone that does irrespective of this ongoing process, instead of focusing on who says this one is bad or this one is good.
To those who still filter information here objectively, great clarifications are made here... We are encouraged to utilize the opportunity...
Thanks for sharing.

Having read comments on recent developments especially with regards to the conference, let me appreciate xtruzz for the idea nd all dos who made contributions to it weda in suport or odawise. However my only concern is this: what about those who stay far away from Lagos who might even b willing but unfortunately cannot make it due to one reason or the other, what's dia fate, does it mean they become automatically disadvantaged nd with next-to-no chance in this recruitment. What a sad one

You still do not get it. Our focus here is dpr recruitment. Almost every agency in Nigeria do underground recruitment. If all there is to getting a job at DPR is via nepotism (of course that is what attending the conference is all about) why would DPR make innocent Nigerians waste their time and resources to apply, go for the interview and keep waiting endlessly to no avail?
Even if they must advertise, they should have just secretly selected their favorite candidates whom by virtue of attending conference to network and get connected have earned them added advantage.
I wonder how many conferences Mr. Ladan attended before he was employed by dpr in 1987. He benefitted from a country that was transparent and rewarded hard work but cannot allow us enjoy the same benefit in our time.

We are already paying for our sins in Nigeria:
1.Your politicians cannot receive medical care in Nigeria because they know how the so called Nigerian doctors got admission and eventually become doctors.
2. Our refineries are dead because the people there got there by mere connection and /or attending conference
3. Families pay through their nose in private schools because the teachers in government schools got their jobs through nepotism
4. We import virtually every thing and pay through our nose
5. Our research institutes are in comatose because even people who cannot write a simple letter have miraculously become researchers
6. And so on
It is only in this part of the world that people support evil and are proud of it.
Sincerely, I cannot imagine the crowd in the conference premises if about 3100 candidates heed to this advice and attend the conference.

This is a faceless forum and therefore it is wrong to swallow every information here. I still believe that Mr. Ladan and his team will not stoop this low. Also, I still believe that some candidates here will get the job on merit. However, Mr. Ladan might have wanted to do the right thing but more powerful people compelled him to do otherwise. Unfortunately, he is the one that his image has been soiled if the information contained herein is true.

Please Madam Xtruzz, I thank you for your efforts so far and also for letting the cat out of the bag. However, advice Mr. Director to teach his management how to do it the Nigerian (evil) way absolutely so that those who don't have connections would not waste their time in future recruitments.
May he never forget posterity because thousands of kids yet unborn will here from their parents how one Mr. Ladan handled dpr recruitment.

I also want to advise young Nigerians to stop taking their studies serious and spend more time attending conference and building connection because that is the easier way to succeed in Nigeria. Nobody gives a damn about what you know but who you know.
In the nearest future we will see what the country would become.

Those who merited this job but didn't get it because of nepotism will still find something worthwhile to do with their lives. I advise them to take a deep breath and talk to their God. Yes I believe strongly in supremacy of God Almighty. Then ask him to direct your steps to the next direction.

In life when you have exploited all the potentials inherent in you to achieve something the noble way and yet you failed, God Almighty may be creating an alternative pathway for you. Just pray that you discover it and then fall into the right track full of energy and enthusiasm.

Till next year !!!

i beleive nigeria will never change, this issue of nepotism just started, in the near future it will be no longer your performance but who's godfather is the strongest. shakur and his team have already defended the recruitment by saying they consulted fcc in everything they did, from aptitude test to final selection and in the end they got certificate of compliance. we can not fight the govt, the only thing we can do is explore other options and groom ourselves for opportunities else where, the recruitment is definately not over, but if you are solely a merit candidate i will tell you its a dead end. many opportunities are out there guys, lets go grab them.

you can't say it better.
It's quite unfortunate in this 2016 DPR thread unlike the 2010 thread where there was unity of purpose, the will of togetherness and brothers keepers of one another as shown by those in the know of every information concerning the recruitment then and use it selflessly.
But in 2016 thread it was a conspiracy, that is, the information given here since the inception by some individuals is to paint the entire recruitment merit based of over 90 percent, calling Mr. Tata and Dantani ladan integrity all for their selfish reasons. So does their dubious acts discouraging our fair publications.
I call on all, let's not just leave it like this, we should instead tag Mr. President's twitter handler and formally make known our complain, who knows, this doesn't take any thing from us.

you can't say it better.
President's twitter handler and formally make known our complain, who knows, this doesn't take any thing from us.
daz exactly my point

DPR and their agents knew what the common man would do, that is why they planted their agents especially on this thread to make sure no one takes any positive action regarding the outcome of this recruitments.

And I tell you, they succeded. Take a look at the past recruitment how they put their heads together and published their grieviances amicably and fear gripped every stakeholder and the proper thing was done.

Who knows, Ladan or Shakur might be waiting for us to act so he can see a space to place his footsteps helping the common man but we keep shying
away.

Nevertheless, is never too late to act. #Stakeholder, Godfatherism must stop#

Many has been getting their appointment letters, while you are busy praising DPR moles here, hahaha. Kai, it's we Nigerians that is our problem. Who cares? I got the job, doesn't mean am happy with the polity. But some people, maybe thought I am a hopeful or didn't qualify for interviews were busy insulting me. Well, that is why people like me do see no reason to help because it's the same people you want to help that will insult and set you up

i never wanted to comment on your foolishness but this post caught my attention, all that you are and will ever be is a foolish bigot. hausa/fulanis, igbos, yorubas that performed exceptionally well in this recruitment but were denied their right are all being cheated in this recruitment, no ethnic group is being favoured ahead of the other, all it takes is for a strong stakeholder to stand for you and voila you are a dpr staff. all politicians care about is their own selfish intrest, they all sit down wine and dine together and share our common wealth yet you are here with your usual hate speeches. kwantinuu

lol you shouldn't have insulted his comment because in a way the dude is right. As a northerner you stand a greater chance with just little connection and i'm not also saying other regions don't stand a good chance but with a stronger connection

let me just be brief with my experience. I once wrote NLNG scholarship exam i was told outrightly by a staff of NLNG that if i were to be a northerner it would have been easy for me because there cut off mark is lesser compared to other regions (which shouldn't be so)

This might not be the case in this dpr situation but i can boldly tell you that northerners stand a greater chance in getting any federal appointment. I believe you are a Nigeria you should get my point i'm not also saying other regions don't stand a chance but all I'm saying is that they "the northerners" are always ahead believe it or not

There is something about the person behind this moniker that makes me smile everytime i read his posts grin

I am sure he doesn’t mean to offend anybody, he just has no filter lol.

Let me share my experience when DPR just started calling the first batch and everyone was anxious. A friend went to HQ under the guise of collecting his APL so i gave him assignment to check for my name. (we are supposed to be in the same department).

********************************************
10 minutes later he called me back.

Charlyy: Samson, o boy i scanned through the list. our names no dey there.

Me: How many names dey for that department, you sure say you open eye check am well.

Charlyy: Guy, i checked that list in like 1 min. Close to 30 names and 80% of the names are names affiliated with Mr President’s region. Shey i go waste time when the names no resemble our names.

Me: Ahn ahn

Charlyy: Make i burst your head, only 3 names on that list resemble names of people from our side. The rest na Oga Presido people.

Disclaimer: The person I sent, his brain is sharp and I trust his eyes. This was my experience, you make of it what you want. If there is anything I learnt from this trend its the vastness of human gullibility. People will only believe what they want to believe.
