Hi everyone! So I'm about to apply for a visitors visa for the very first time. I understand it's not a do or die affair but I'm willing to give it a shot.
So I'm a student in my second year and my dad is a permanent resident in the US. He's been living there for some years now. My mom and siblings are here. My dad will be sponsoring my trip. I intend to come back in time for school as soon as ASUU calls of the strike because I really love my course. Is there any way I can present my case properly? Please reply, thanks guys.

I am confused how i am not being genuine ? I thought that was what i was doing by asking these questions.

Everthing i do is within a legal confindment.

Nigerians are denied visas for proir reputation of oversaying their visas or engaging in illegal activities.

I visited for a friends convocation, after which i returened home.

I came back to explore the country. I have currently visited 6 states and counting more.

This is my hard earned money, pls if i am doing something wrong, nicely let me know and i will make amends .

I believe what everyone is subtly requesting is that you do not overstay the date stamped on your passport and your I-94

They are not giving visas anymore. But some people will still go and donate money.
Just observe the trends if you want a visa, when they start issuing again, apply. Or if you must travel for vacation, there are several countries that even the US wish they were. There was a time Trump mentioned that he wanted more norwegians to come to the US and I read chats that followed the news and most Norwegians were commenting that what the hell will they be going to the US for. To people from Norway, US is to them like Nigeria is to the US. read this: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/donald-trump-shithole-countries-norway-immigration-american-emigrants-scandinavia-a8159441.html

OmoBendel24:

We have loads of Dropbox, immigrant visas and non immigrant visas, approved for Nigerians all around the world (outside Nigeria) that are not seen by most of us, those could be accounting for the 45% ratio. But definitely not the physical number of approved persons you see at the Lagos or Abuja embassy of theirs, those one can never be more than 10-20% approval rate.

How do you come about your data ? Most people I know at work as well as friends and family don’t have issues securing US visas. Even people with no jobs or income secure US visas easily . Whenever I want to apply for a visa to U.K. or any of the schengen member states I find myself stressed asking for introduction letter from HR , searching for accommodation, getting a bank statement and trying to have some money in the account . But for the US tourist visa the passport and ds160 confirmation page is all that Is relevant

Look out for the visa issuance rates by country and you’ll find that visas are issued daily. My friend and cousin applied for us tourist visas in November and both got issued in Abuja and Lagos respectively . Don’t even understand Nigerians and the whole obsession with us visas .

Lol. This your explanation get k leg. So how do you know when to observe trend and apply again? I hope you realize that even if your trend analysis works for a certain month, you can't get appointment dates for that same month.

The interview will be at least three months after the trend based on the present non availability of appointment dates and maybe the will start the 'rejection' process all over again. grin grin

Trends don't work in that embassy. Kpokom

Hello experienced nairalanders,
I wish to attend a 5 day conference in new York in July 2019. It is a medical women's conference. I am a medical doctor, married with two kids. I have a 6months UK visa. I will be traveling in Dec to London and will be spending 6 weeks. I will be back in February.
My parents just got their US visas yesterday and they may be in New York in July.
My dilemma is this. My aunt whom my parents will be staying with, lives in bookyln, 20mins walk away from the venue of the conference I will be attending.
I don't mind booking a hotel for my stay.
It is tempting to say that I will be staying with her for the duration of the conference but I feel that it may jeopardize my chances of getting a visa. Especially if my parents are still in her place.
Do I check no to the question 'do you have any relative in the USA? Bear in mind, my parents may be there at the time of application. Do I deny that I do not have an aunt.
Do I book my hotel and state that I may visit her.
I was refused a student visa about 15years ago and this was facilitated by the same aunt.
My people, pls advice me.

When is your interview?
Would your parents be in Us by the time you are going for interview? Theres a question of your parents location as at the time.of filling the form. If you can, have your interview before your parents depart for the US So you can answer No to it.
Do u have a relative in Us? YES. Answering No will be the biggest undoing.
Booking a hotel or not:- does not ring true nor make sense to use a hotel when you have a relative close by. If you'd truly stay at her place then be honest about it.

I haven't filled the DS 160 form. My parents will travel to the US when I return in Feb. I will try to go for my interview before they leave, so that I can answer truthfully to their location. I will use my aunt's place as my address because it is quite close to the conference venue. The hotel I wanted to book on Booking.com is 45mins away. I will ask my aunt for a letter, stating that I will be staying with her for the duration of the conference. One last question, I am sponsoring myself. Can I submit a 3month bank statement.
Thank you for your help

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by dadee007(m): 9:56am On Nov 30, 2018
The Laws that govern most of our lives also govern this visa application. Laws like Law of demand and supply. I don't have to be at the embassy to know what is happening or has happened.
Canada complained that Nigerians are using the B1/B2 visas granted by the US to illegally come to Canada and then seek asylum; what do you think the instruction will be like from the oga at the top? What would your reaction be if you were the American president? Would you fold your hands and do nothing?

This thread is Part 3 of a series of US visiting visas; go and read part 2 which was like 2 years ago and see the 'trend' and read this part 3 and also notice the 'trend' if you would notice any differences.

Also, try and find out from the previous thread, the number of days interval from when you apply for appointment and how long away the appointment date would be if I'm not mistaken, as of today, you cannot get an appointment date earlier than May. That is a cool six months away. What does that tell you.

I'll tell you what it tells me, it tells me that although the instruction from the top has been to ''deal with the issue'' of many B1/B2 applicants crossing over to Canada and embarrassing the US, also overstaying their visas in the US, also, people trying to leave the country possibly due to the uncertainties of the coming elections(or at least have the visas just in case), the demand has invariably inreased whereas the supply dropped.

That's why you hear stuff like they are giving old people etc. That is killing 2 birds with one stone. Old people will not cross to Canada for a better life but old people will count in the statistics that will come out from the embassy that says the refusal rate is only 45% or something like that.

Hint: If you want to apply for a US visa, just check your appointment date and if it is longer than a month away, you can try other countries till things cool down. But what do I know? I'm only here on my keyboard typing rubbish.
