Hello good day gurus in the house. I am writing my first GRE this Sunday barely 2 days away. I need help in selection of schools so i can send my score to them after my exam. I studied Computer Engineering majored in Computer Networks already certified in CCNA cisco certified networks Associate. My Ggpa is abit low 3.24/5, I made a list of universities for my Masters program offering this program during my research. But want to select 4 Universities using criteria like HIGH FUNDING opportunity(TA,Campus Jobs etc), high/moderately ranked school, Schools offering Computer Networks program and Moderate tuition fee and high acceptance rate. Please i really want your input in the selection and even suggestion of universities that fit my profile.

List of Research Universities

Wichita State University
University of Southern California
New York Institute of Technology
University of Missouri-Kansas
University of North Carolina
Iowa State University
Georgia Institute of Technology
Brown University
University of Maryland- College Park
Cornell University
Columbia University NY
Stony Brook University SUNY
University of California- Berkeley
University of California Santa Cruz
Northeastern University
Texas Tech University
University of Arizona,Tucson

The List is abit long please i really need help to get Four schools out of this list before my test day.

Sorry if I digress a little, but I would suggest you have more than 4 schools in mind and their institution codes at hand.
From personal experience, your final scores may differ from what you anticipate, say higher or lower, or may be the same with your anticipated score. So have a range of schools for each of the scenarios above.
Also, there is a tendency you may not apply to most of these schools, due to some other reason such as the nature of commitment from their faculty. I'm not saying making a decision now is not important. It is necessary, at least it saved me the cost of reporting my scores to a school I applied to, which requires official test scores.
I would suggest you use gradecafe and msinus as guides for your intended course and universities.

As for the GRE, I wish you the best. Be confident, don't panic and ensure to get there in time. You can do well!

I think Sherlock5577 has said all that is needed to be said but just to add, i'd advise you take out schools that allow you to upload unofficial scores. From your list, I know Iowa State, Texas Tech fall in this bucket. You get to send official scores after you've been provided an admit. This would allow you more options and save you from having to spend to report scores if you decide to apply to more than the 4 schools you reported scores to.
Also, I think some of the schools listed are a bit too ambitious for your profile. I'd advise you pick one ambitious, two moderate and 1 safe. So here are my 4 suggested schools:

Ambitious: One of
Georgia Institute of Technology
Brown University
University of Maryland- College Park
Cornell University
Columbia University NY
University of Southern California

Moderate:
two of:
Wichita State University
New York Institute of Technology
University of Missouri-Kansas
University of North Carolina
Texas Tech University
Stony Brook University SUNY

Safe:
University of Texas Arlington
Tennessee State
North Dakota State University
Georgia Southern University. etc

Then again, your GRE score will inform how you'll arrive at your selections. Goodluck with your exam.

Took my test today.

Didn't even know the structure of the test, until I started seeing 1 of 6, 2 of 6 ...on the top left corner of the screen. Then I realized "I don enter today". The entrance into the test hall is rather scary, especially if you got the a little later that slated. The smashing sounds of fingers on keyboards......no be small thing, like that from an old school typing machine.

All the same, I didn't perform as expected.

Yeah bro thanks.

I saw 310 as my score and it was termed "unofficial". Is it different from what they'll sent to recipient schools? And how do I send it to some other schools? Can I see the scores on my dashboard?

Plus I didn't see my AWA score.

Hi all,
My gre is on the 4th of January next year, same with TOEFL that same month, yes I decided to register after procrastinating for many months, I am not the most brilliant student but I believe I will do well if I prepare very well, I'm currently stuck in 285 in the power prep test which is frustrating. Honestly I'm investing a lot of time in the gre which has made me loss weight, the materials I'm using are as follows.

1. Nova
2. Ets
3. Princeton preview, (not yet used)
4. Kaplan

Currently I'm no longer using any material since my scores have stalled on the prep test, I now use videos, 1k plus videos for both quant and vocab.
Please gurus in the house, what do you think I should do to increase my score, I need to improve before 4th of January, I can't be investing close to half a day and losing weight (5kg) with nothing to show for it.
I need help.

Remember to take advantage of the four free score report recipients (schools). Enter recipients a day before the exam (closes by 10pm). Every score report after then is $20
A day before? , I thought its on the test day you will send scores to schools.

I don't know your manner of approach, but this means you would have to change it. Have you tried taking note of your weak areas from the practise tests, and learning better ways of solving them. You should check out Manhattan 6 pounds. It's a good book too.
From experience, progress isn't instantaneous, it's gradual. So you just have to persevere a little.

All the best!!

Please don't get confused by using all kinds of material. Different guys follow different approach to the solutions. Be clear while picking up the material. And yes videos really works well also you need to practice. At the end only your practice matters. And the most important thing is stop worrying. This nowhere helps you in getting good score. Keep calm and practice well. I personally prefer Galvanize Test Prep where I solved many GRE practice tests and got clarified through video lectures. At the end I would like to say it again...Stop Worrying and keep practicing.

I think this message is for me,
The reason why I use videos is that it also serves as practice test, I try to answer the question ask before playing the video to see the answer.

Please anyone who has the link or book can post it too.
