Church leaders ask tithes in the name of God. They'll say “God needs your help building the church". What does god need with a multi-million dollar church? Nothing. These are the same so-called church leaders that you'll find riding in fancy cars, eating the best foods, living in expensive homes and living the life of wealthy people while their followers scrape and struggle to do “God's will” by tithing. These so-called leaders will lead congregations in the worse of the worse neighborhoods and on their way to church to preach on Sundays or Saturdays or whatever day they declare to be the Sabbath, they will step over the homeless or the less fortunate |

HigherEd:Regarding your questions, here are some answers. 1. Yes, God was really happy about the Temple. 2. During Solomon's era, it was said that riches abound in Israel, and gold was like the sand of the seashore. Israelites were extremely wealthy as at the time. 3. Refer to Answer 2 ^ 4. Because the Israelites were extremely wealthy at the time, they were blessed by God exceedingly, that being taxed for the temple building is just a minuscule thing. 5. Still refer to Answer 2 above ^ 6. It was just the one and only temple being built in Israel at the time, and it was just a place the Israelites could come to worship God, compared to Nigeria which has countless temples all around the corner, still yet the economy of the temple is dwindling. 7. No one is perfect, and there'll still continue to be imperfect people till this day. 8. Even the Bible states that none of is perfect, No! not even one. 9.Our body is where God's temple really is, if we can't build up our fellow humans, we have really failed, why do you think the greatest commandment ever is love your neighbour as yourself. I wouldn't know the mind of God to know what it's going on there, but I feel he won't be happy with the way people are being exploited in his name, we're being sold salvation on a daily basis. |

mixta140:God bless you. The fact is you don't need to offend the devil before he starts fighting you. Christianity is light and darkness will always wage war against it. Compare every Worship Centers around the world to the standard of the Church. They are no where to be found. Compare the reasoning faculties of Christians and their ways of organisation to these mofos and their agents they are no where to be found. If Church Money is used by the Likes of Oyedepo to build world standard Schools and Churches what do you think will happen if such ppl are given the chance to rule Nigeria with all the wealth we have. Why do you think Nigeria is like the shit it is. Godly ppl are not in the helms of affairs. 90% of Nigerian politicians are not Christians. Among the few claiming to be Christians 5% are true children of God. So when Christians do extraordinary things they cry foul. We spend our own money to build whatever we like they call us names. Sheeples, Mumu, etc. They ain't see nothing yet! |

felixomor:Why is it that jobless people always think everyone else is equally jobless? Lol I am not the reason for your unemployment bro. Stop projecting. Maybe if u pay double tithes and contribute to your church more, maybe the god u believe in will finally help u find a good job. ![]() |

felixomor:Felixmoron. Go through my history and my posts and see when I am active here. Weekends. Let's go through yours to find out. We all know u are one of the most miserable and jobless fellows on Nairaland. Everyone knows that. Even your fellow Christians. So again I tell u; stop projecting. Because your life has no meaning without this forum doesn't mean everyone else's life does. I pray u get a job one day so u will stop thinking Nairaland gives meaning to your life. Unfortunately u are far older than the age for entry level positions. And u have no skill. So you are hopeless. That's why u have to keep clutching your religious beliefs and holding them close to your chest and be busy defending senseless religious position because u feel that way God will smile on you. Newsflash bro. God does not favor idiocy. |

One thing I don't fancy about Christians is that they like to make references to that part of the old testament that will only suit their selfish interest. If we have to stop cherry picking the bible and treat issues exactly they way they are, mo Christian will be right today The question should be, are we suppose to be following what happened in the era of Solomon or the era of Jesus and his disciples? The church during the time of peter should be the blueprint for what we should have today (a church were everything is shared equally among members), the era of Solomon era was a priesthood era and totally different from what we have now. The system of government was grossly controlled by religion and it's not obtainable today. Your analysis is hypocritical |

geezyk:Great contribution. However it is arguable that Nigeria today has far more mineral wealth than the Isrealites but pure mismanagement brought us to where we are. This is why we must hold our govt accountable on all levels to acheive the desired results that we desire. And of course there were very poor people in Isreal. There is no need to argue about that. Of course we are to build the body and not structures but you don't expect enenche to lay members on the sea shoreline. The cathedral he built realistcally cannot contain his members. Branching out will also cost more so what do you expect him to do. Next time you guys should hold sai baba, obj, gej, ibb, tinubu for the state of the nation and leave adeboye et al out of this. |

mixta140:What makes you think am in a mood to engage an ignorant sheeple now? Go read my past comments and that of others here and in other places and see if you will have sense. Hey HigherEd good to have had a good discussion soo far on the matter devoured of insults and foul words. I wont be contributing anymore on it to avoid the thread turning into a circus of insults as some low IQ sheeples have joined and are trying to turn this into something it shouldnt be. As the sim is not who win or lose but sharing of realities and biblical knowledge. I believe my points soo far have been noted so no need to overflock the issue further anyway. Have a fine week my friend. |

tamethem:This thing caused small fight amongst my friends and I last Thursday. .. it's this argument on churches... My friends now look different to me ... am really surprised what economy is turning some people too ... It's like the politicians has charmed the people to face the churches for their problem. Church built school , it ain't free , they did this and that. I was like do you think higher institution with quality education Na joke... How my I myself Don contribute financially to get free quality education. Nothing is free is what I said . The thing Wan lead to fight ... I was like oga ooo . Politicians are rubbing us korokoro we go dey look say who Wan die ... God has helped us enough in this country, we just have to take charge and stop irrelevant complaint |
| Re: Questions For People Against Big Church Buildings In Nigeria by Nobody: 8:03pm On Dec 02, 2018 |
mixta140:the church is taking too much money from the economy and investing it on frivolities, things that will not benefit the economy. Remember that, any amount of money you invest in church will hardly yield any economic importance as the church doesn't pay tax nor do they pay as much employers as an average establishment. Any money invest in church will hardly come back to the economy We are poor and at this stage of our life as a Nation, we can't afford to take huge chunk of money and spend it on unproductive edifices. The government has a problem but religion is not helping either, religion which is suppose to complement the government's deficit is now acting as a supplement to the deficit. |

the OP is busy using Solomon who was not a Christian as an example when we all can remember what the apostles did. The apostles are our perfect example as Christians and not Solomon who did not receive salvation. |

None of these questions makes any sense nor relevant to the building of the temple in Jerusalem. The old temple in Jerusalem was built from the account of a single man-King Solomon, not the people's money, and it was dedicated God. Today we have people who single handedly built church and dedicate it God,it was their wish to do it to honour God,and it was like the did of Solomon. Remember Solomon had died when the temple was destroyed and and single man had the financial power to put it up again, so Nehemiah sought the help of the people. |
