Hahaha Can you imagine the embassy snubbed our government. How disrespectful!! I know nothing will change as long as the crowd flood to the consulate. They can't issue everybody a visa. And the embassy doesn't care how much you have spent or how difficult the process is; you pay the fee, they determine if you're eligible.

Bro an embassy is autonomous; its ambassador enjoys diplomatic immunity and your laws barely even touch him/her. It's like a country in another country.

Unless the embassy or its personnel commit a crime against its host country or diplomatic relations are severed, they can do pretty much whatever they want... Even at that, they aren't arrested but expelled.

So summons from any branch or arm of government is a simple thing to bounce especially from a place like our NASS, that hall that doesn't have a dime in credibility.

If it were the presidency, then the ambo may have obliged.

But, on an issue like VISA issuing which has a classified system, i don't think the ambo would put himself in a situation where he'd be forced to say stuff or at best, give the government vague answers.

An agent that can lie on statement of account can fill up 2 ds160 for an applicant. The best is to avoid them and of one has to, just their advice is enough and not them doing everything. I know an agent (a friend I met in the US brother) that helps secure admission into Virginia International University and secured a better admission for his brother. When I asked if he knows VIU wasn't accredited, he acknowledged he knows and that most Nigerians only want to travel abroad and never does their background check.
this statement is 100 percent true.......apart from the fake stamp and statement, another reason why I fled from the agent was the quality of school he promised to get me into.when I asked him if I was going to write GRE(cos I heard its very important),he said there was no need for it that he will look for a very cheap/low standard school,I just looked at him.and smiled.the fact that I'm going to study in USA,while considering my financial status shouldn't make me desperate....I was happy I fled the agent when I came to nairaland and noticed that the quality of school matters alot at the Embassy

right now,the school I got admission into is one of the best 45 public schools, the school gave me a partial tuition waiver and asked me to pay a refundable tuition deposit(if only I get denied a visa) that covers my first year

Just hope that the consular who will interview you is informed the school is a top school, because I can tell you that not all of them know. The important thing, prepare very well for the interview--in case you haven't done that.

thanks.... I'm using academic ranking(strictly) to defend the school....the school and the faculty are highly ranked among the best, even tho its not an ivy League school.

Don't rely on that alone as it would not be adequate to convince a VO; add stronger reasons too, like, broad courses offered, electives that integrate courses not offered by the other schools you applied to, etc. Good luck

At an EducationUSA meeting, a VO said something which u might find useful. She said and I quote "If we ask why did you choose this school don't go around and tell us how the school is the best school in America, we want to know why it's the best school for you as a student not why it's the best school in the world, almost all schools in America are great, you must have a reason for choosing a particular school"

Exactly. You can want to go to Harvard or Yale. But if u can’t say how going to Harvard will forster your career and goals. What do you think?

What's the name of the school?

So, if I go by what the VO said, the gurus who contributes to this thread are actually qualified to take on the VO job. We have said the same thing time and again. Choose a school because of what it will do for you; not because it is highly ranked (though this, too, add a few bonus)

Thanks for your contribution boss, please with some consideration and some advice I will like to differ my admission to summer, since spring is January and I never get my posted admission letter. Please I have a question

Do I need to get the admission letter first before I applied for differement and will I need to subit any other document or any payment to differ to summer.

Please it urgent and the school will send letter today by their regular 4-6weeks post. Thanks

Your decision is reasonable. You just need to write to your school. Explain your situation and state reasons why you wish to defer. If you defer you will not need to submit additional docs (depends on school) and the i-20 already prepared will not be useful again. Though you can use the sevis number to pay sevis fee ahead getting the summer i-20. Ask them to hold the Spring 2019 i-20 and defer.

I don't actually get the full point. Are you saying I should tell not to send it again. Or should I wait until I get my papers and then tell them I need a differ.Because you also said (Ask them to hold the Spring 2019 i-20 and defer.)
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by fairheart(m): 9:41am On Dec 06, 2018
Tell them not to send it again. Then in the same message state that you'd like to defer and the reasons. 1, i-20 will not get to you in time. 2, there is not suitable date for visa interview in your home country. 3, you strongly believe that Summer admission will allow you to prepare adequately, etc. Once they defer, tell school to send the Summer i-20 immediately. Or raise money for courier.

There's no point letting them send the Spring 2019 i-20, if you want the admission deferred. Sorry, been busy and the response was light.

Im back again, this time with some good news!

My boy was offered a conditional agreement. . .because he missed and didnt write any of the test of English language exams. It was not his fault though, ACTS exams was cancelled.

Im wondering if he will still make it for Spring undecided

One step forward though. His parents who have been indifferent about this whole school thing are now overjoyed. Lol can i get interview date for him this Dec? It will be great if he goes along with us for xmass vacation. cheesy
