If the proposed acquisition /merger of access + diamond scale through, then there will be an imminent dilution of access bank shares regardless of book value. IMO , there is something intrigue the public are not yet aware about this deal.
If in the affirmative, the share price of access will nosedive TO N6. +-2.5 in the coming days. Wigwe will not use his personal fortune for the acquisition, the shareholders of access bank are meant to pay for it. No wonder, despite the significant PAT in 2016 to 17, the access mgx has not paid a reasonable dividends. This is what Wigwe has been eyeing.
Better to sell 50% of holdings in access and buy diamond before a technical suspension is placed on the share.
Otherwise... The dumpling effect will tell on access by February 2019 plus the imminent bonanza foretold by chibuking aka bonanza crew

The NSE doesn't always behave as one would expect. Normally the price of an acquiring entity in a merger should fall for several reasons including the dilution you mentioned. But today Access gained maximally. Holders of DB shares actually made a double gain today.

Given the proposed merger between ACCESS and DIAMOND, it makes some sense to run an in-depth but cursory review and analysis to find out who amongst the shareholders of the 2 are up for a better deal from it all.
Put differently, where would be best for u to align with on the back of this merger?



My advise:
If I were an Investor with positions in both coys, I would look to book my profit from DIAMOND within the N2-2.09 price band and no more than N9.40 in ACCESS. This should also serve to guide ur target entries if u wish to KEY in. (read between the lines from the estimates above)
...but that's just me.

NOTE: The sole aim of this run down is to look in on which among the 2 coys offers the possibility of a better baigain in terms of price appreciation.

However, the bolded seems to be the real bone of contention, there's more to it than meets the eye.
In all, they should allow retail investors to eat small, we the jijoist are on the queue too.
From the bank's staff perspective, it is not looking good at all. Jobs are on the line here.

There is a story that happened when NITEL retrenched people.
A guy I personally know asked a broker to use more than half of his package to get him shares.
The 'smart' broker had a perfect opportunity to offload his illiquid stock on the guy.
A few months later, Dangote stepped in and the shares disappeared on the exchange and this guy made millions in profit.
He bought a house, bought a car and became a big boy instantly.....

The only thing I have forgotten is whether he went back to thank that broker....

NIGERIA STOCK MARKET GENERAL COMMENT/MSCI NIGERIA PORTFOLIO MOVEMENT - AS AT 17 DECEMBER 2018

For yesterday, MSCI Nigeria Index was not in the market.

For Tuesday 17 December 2018, expected High is 30,702.91 low at 30,534.56.

The Access/Diamond issue may likely impact positively on some other banking equities. Let us how the drama goes. There is the probability that the Santa Clause rally may show up in the banking sector.

2. The fund will still hold some equity, the terms of service states this. Thus no matter the condition of the market, it will not liquidate to Zero, unless the fund is exiting from the particular Country involved. This is an equity fund investing in the Nigeria market. The date displayed may not be the actual date of purchase/sale of equity (this is lega and allowable under the regulations guiding funds operations in general).

3. You cannot bear losses like the fund. The pocket of the fund is too deep. Therefore, as an individual you are not suppose to be in the market during the stock market crash. Before or during the crash, reduce your holding.
