In reference to the guy who talked about Enugu, i stayed there for a little time and made some observances. Enugu is a very cool, clean place with awesome road network and a nice hill like environment. It's a place where people who need to take a break from the normal noisy Nigerian lifestyle go to. It's mostly known for enjoyment and stress free lifestyle. Of you know you're a young guy trying to start life, Enugu is not for you (else you'd get really broke, unless you're a techie).
Electricity supply is quite decent, crime rate is at an all time low, public transport is quite cheap and rents are quite okay and affordable depending on the location. Nevertheless water supply is going to be a huuuge problem as the whole city is on a series of hills, drilling a borehole is going to be quite expensive. Business may not be very lucrative unless you're venturing into the tech and entertainment industry(its booming in Enugu). Nevertheless enugu is a place that made men and retirees go to relax and enjoy life. If you know you don't have money to spend don't go there.

I relocated from Lagos to Ibadan around June this year, I don't regret the decision bro, maybe because I am self-employed and my business is online-based so Location was never a barrier. Ibadan is peaceful, neat, accommodation is fairly cheaper than it is in Lagos.
If you have the mind-set of getting a white-collar job or your business is going to be largely dependent on offline customers, seek somewhere else. Electricity?, I rate am 7/10.

As for house rent, there was a time a friend of mine made enquiries about house rent in new haven, Enugu, it was about 400,000 (3 bedrooms), you will pay for 2 years plus agent and agreement, everything was almost 1 million in total, even 2 rooms apartments are over 250,000 in new haven and independence layout. Transamadi may be cheaper. There are also many estates in Enugu city but, you need over 1 million because, u may have to pay for 2 years plus agent and agreement levy.

As for business, IT business, hotel and restaurant business, sale of building materials in small and large quantities, school business, hostel accommodation in Enugu and Nsukka, interstate transport ( keke and motorcycle on higher purchase), build malls, plazas, or estates etc.

Fishery? If u open this business in Owerri, u may not even meet demand self. Hotels and restaurants are top businesses in Enugu, Awka and Owerri and as long as your fish are affordable, u are going to make it big by supplying all the restaurants and hotels.

Bro I guess you stay n Enugu. There are a lot of misconceptions about Enugu that a young business man cannot survive there but i reckon that Enugu would be a good place to pitch tent. Most people come into Enugu just to spend their money in peace, all you have to do is to provide an avenue to satisfy their various needs and wants.

Someone was just bent on tarnishing Enugu in the former comments and promoting Ibadan but, there is absolutely no need to engage someone like that in any tribal argument in this peaceful thread.
Just as my friend relocated to new haven, Enugu, last year, I'm also going to relocate very soon to Achara layout, I only want to first establish a business there before final relocation.

Here is my own advice from the places I have stayed in

Enugu- CVS, serene, safe, pipe borne water in areas occupied by the middle class and above tho 750 gallons tanker costs 2,500-3,000, self cons range from 110K-250k whilst 2-3 bedroom flats range from 200K-450K and as for duplex 400K-2M where I stay (GRA) and using that as an index it might be cheaper elsewhere, Business is a real challenge if you're not well informed as Enugu people have a certain type of mentality.



Uyo- CVS, extremely beautiful, safe, with 50k you don get borehole, self con is usually 150K MAX, 2-3 bedroom flats range from 150K-400K, duplex is 350K-600K and I used to stay around oron road. You'd make a killing with transportation business, the state university there is just 8 years old and there isn't much development yet such as restaurants, clubs and cinemas.

I'd stayed briefly in Ibadan when I was younger. Well, since you asked I'd give you my honest observations, nothing personal. It was dirty, a bit rough, political thuggery was rampant, slight traffic, water shortage during dry season, rampant electricity outage, troublesome neighbours and some funny body odour, especially in the cabs. Lol. The city is very large yet there are no major industries or work except transportation, and trading. Though less aggressive than Lagos, the atmosphere was like Lagos. I don't want a place like Lagos. Only Bodija and Bashorun areas were my favourites. But it's possible things have changed now as I've not been for years.

things have really changed. Ajimobi rebuilt Ib city. You'd surely love it now. Life there is a bit closer to that of Lagos truly buh not all agressive and execessive like Lagos.

there's no much difference from Lagos and Ibadan... Except for the companies which are not that plenty in Ib and there are couple of them in Oluyole industrial estate and Dugbe.. And also the locals in Ib city are way too peaceful and calm than Lagos and things are very very cheap in Ib city, and electricity is good in many places. There are couple of clubs.. Many people still don't know what Ajimobi did in that city. The man transformed that city. Buh because many people have never been there since Ajimobi took charge, they thought Ib was still same Ib of yesterday.. With Operation burst everywhere in town, you wouldn't want to mess around so talk security, talk electricity, peace of mind, cheap transportation, cheap food, just name it... Just jobs, that's the only problem buh if you can do buying and selling in Dugbe then congratulations, you found the best place to stay.

actually most of those wrote off towns in Oyo state are the bomb bro, if not for the rural part, trust me you'd so much love these places.. I camped at Iseyin last year and OMG, electricity is 24hrs bro. All through the days we spent in camp, light everywhere. Electricity doesn't take 2 - 5 min to be switch back on when switched off. That place was really too good. Just that some sights you'd miss will surely bore you.

Onitsha is a very good bet to relocate to, the human resource and market to any kind of biz you want to run is available. Language or tribe is never a problem, don't be mislead by the other guy that said language is a barrier in the east. Almost 1/4th the population of the city troop in from various towns to do biz, so how language take b issue?. The city is cheap to live in comparatively, housing can go as low as 40k for a single room to 250k for a 3-bed in the densely populated areas, except newer houses that may cost higher. The decent areas has 2-bed and 3-bed flats for 600k max with all utilities o. There are also decent old duplexes in Omagba phase 1 and old GRA for as low as 600k-800k. Other new money areas are usually from 2m/Yr. Electricity is unstable/stable. The roads are good to an extent, its a mad city filled with few rogues but the people here are very good people.
There are no white collar jobs tho unless you are on transfer. Except that, everything moves rapidly in the city, that's why its one of the few cities in Nigeria where wealth is evenly distributed, almost everybody has money.

Nnewi and Awka are also nice places to stay, IT is the most tapped industry in Awka now, techies are cashing out mad.

Which cultism is in PH? Isn't there badoo in Lagos that kill whole families in their sleep? Aren't there ritual killers in Ibadan harvesting heads everyday?

Long as you don't intend to join a cult in PH, you're good to go. There's so much money in PH and most people don't know.
