Good day boss,

Age : 25pts
Degree: 10pts
Experience: 15pts
English: 20pts (to aim for)

Total: 70pts

Is 189 right for you?
Absolutely

Is the occupation right?
Engineering Technologist is a skilled level 1 occupation, you will need a bachelor's degree to successfully access for any skilled level 1 occupation.
Secondly, Engineering Technologist is quite competitive.

The bright side
You can nominate "Fitter" otherwise known as "plant mechanic" with your degrees and experience in the manufacturing field.
Fitter is much less competitive and gives you the opportunity to go for 189 and 190 or 489 with either Northern Territory or South Australia in case you get 10points for English.

i have similar experience/qualification but i read electrical engineering, though i have HND. i initially wanted to go for engineering draftperson to reduce the competition and give me a better chance but right now, drafteperson is assessed by Engineers australia. is this also a skilled level 1 occupation? what other option can u suggest?

Electrical Engineering Draftperson is skilled level 2. You're good to assess with HND.

Happy New Year! TRed.

Pls, I just need clarification on this, let's say your work experience solemnly is based on your master's degree which wasn't bagged from Nigeria. Can this be assessed from EA or Dublin. Note master from UK.

Happy New year boss!!!

You can assess any "recognised" degree and experience from any country. Recognised degree means the degree has to be accredited by the education authority of such country.

If the occupation you are nominating is an engineering field, you will assess via Engineers Australia (EA).

It doesn't matter if your experience was in Nigeria, and your Degree obtained in UK.

Lastly, if you are below 31yrs and have an Engineering degree from the UK, 476 visa may also be available for you.

Been reading these and i have gained a lot
Thanks to @bellong @Chidike, @Austransac,@Disecteur@Alphadoor@MamaJaz just have some questions
Please help me I'm just starting from ground zero

1st WORK PLACE - 3yrs
I have reference letter from the head who is now resigned but was my HOD back then
I have employment letter documents
No payslip

2nd WORK PLACE - 1HALF YEARS
offer of employment
I have job confirmation letter
i have one payslip

3rd and present place - 6years
offer of employment
confirmation of appointment
payslip
Tax certificate

Do you have a bank statement showing receipt of salary for the first job? I think it's good to show them something for that first year so that they don't reduce your experience. Offer letter is good, add evidence of payment to it and it backs it up. I only submitted one statement of service for my current job. I expect the experience you're claiming from your first job till now are all relevant. So once they're fine with the first and second job, the statement of service for your current job is all that is needed. At least I know I only submitted 1 statement of service.

Professional bodies like Engineers Australia and Australia Computer Society (ACS) have some occupations on skill level 2.

I assume you are mixing electrical engineering draftperson up with electrical engineering technician.

Kindly verify the occupation you want to assess.

i wanted to assess for electrical engineering technician under 489 but it seems no region is nominating it outright. victoria is nominating it under special condition, one of which is high score but i cant seem to find out the score requirement for nomination. can i message u privately? perhaps you could help. i seriously need an experienced assistance.

I assume you have experience in manufacturing, kindly provide a brief description of what you do.

I don't mind you messaging me but I believe it's best we evaluate your case on this thread in order for us to get inputs from other bosses who've gone through your assessing bodies.

Since you are looking at 489, you can nominate electrician and go for 489 with South Australia.
I assume you chose 489 because of your points.

Please, can you help with how to register and take the PTE test in Abuja?
You can take it at the PFL office at The big white Ossai and co building in between Amigo and H medix Pharmacy on Ademola Adetokunbo Street, Wuse 2. Please look online for better directions. There is a place to take it in Kaduna too if that is your preference. I got all my information's before writing it through a google search.

Happy new year everyone, hoping all our dreams of PR comes through this year. Grateful to @bellong for this thread and the previous one.
We're looking to start our PR journey this year and I have all the information needed(after going through previous thread and this) but I'm yet to come across a situation like ours and I'd like someone to please help shed light on it.

My husband has HND in mechanical engineering but he has barely worked in that field. He has worked in sales and has 10 years experience. The challenge we have is the assessing body EA requires experience in the engineering field which my husband does not have,so my question is this ; can we fill in his sales experience? Cos that's about the only experience we have. Please I would really appreciate someone helping us with a way out. Thank you

To claim Partner points, your spouse must score a minimum of 6 in each band of IELTS or 50 in PTE.

In addition to the above, your spouse must satisfy the following:
My partner is aged under 45
My partner can obtain a suitable skills assessment (that is not for a Subclass 485 visa)
My partner has a skilled occupation on the same skilled occupation list as you.
Goodluck.

Engineering Technologist needs Bachelors Degree not HND or Diploma
BetterPerson007:
Bellong, may God bless you for starting this thread. To all the gurus in the house, more power to your elbow.
Gurus, please I need guidance. These are my current details:
Age: 37
Ed: I have an HND in Mechanical Engineering (I graduated in 2009)
Work experience: I completed my ND (Mechanical Engineering) in 2002, and got a job as an engineering technician in a Manufacturing firm since 2004. So, my current working years is 14 years.
I have gone through the list of eligible skilled occupations, and intend to apply as an engineering technologist. I intend to apply under visa subclass 189. Currently, I am married with 3 children. Wifey is 29 years, and is a business woman.

Please, is visa subclass 189 the right one for me?
Is applying as an engineering technologist the right application?
Please give an other advice. Thanks ahead.

Good evening everyone. It's almost yr end and would like to thank everyone who has genuinely of help in this race. So much tnx to u all. I know 2019 holds good things for us in Jesus name. Amen!

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO USE THIS MEDIUM TO BRING TO UR NOTICE A SCAM AMONG US. HIS NAME IS AKACHUKWU. Hi luvluvluv, I am also a busy person but I decided to do it myself. When I discussed with him also, he offered to write for me for a price. It's not like I didnt have the money he charged but you see, I will not feel fulfilled if someone should do that for me because I am the one with the experience. I'd rather write myself and look for someone that will review it for me afterwards. Cutting corners on things like this is not cool with me. Sorry about that, pull yourself together and face your fears. Thanks though for putting this up, it will help others stay away from trouble and do things for themselves.

Good evening everyone and happy new year.

I have a challange with tax certificate. Who knows how I can get my tax clearance certificate from lagos state government, I don't have them from 2013 and I have been paying and my pay slips are available for a proof. I told my company and they said next quarter they will start applying for it. That will be too far for me.

Good Evening my people, please I need some clarification about my documents that I intend to submit for vetasses assessment.
Firstly, the company where I am currently working does not pay to our bank account, they only pay by cash, which makes getting bank statement impossible for me. However, I have approached the Account manager and she promised to provide me with salary slip(s), which looks fine. But my main issue is getting tax clearance which I don't have. I would like to know if I can submit my application for Vetasses assessment without Tax clearance.

Please help a sister smiley
