It depends actually. Children whose mum are busy or working class starts school very early. But when the mum is less busy or stay at home mum, then I really see no reason why a child below 3yrs will be put into school. When most babies below 3yrs hardly talk let alone communicate. And besides most pre nursery are just 8am-12pm just 4 hours unless you make arrangement for after school services. What are they even learning sef? Nothing mostly nursery rhymes. Waste of money i must say. Unless of course you are on the buoyant side then you have no issues.

He is not wasting money rather helping his child, a child learns different things like cognitive skills, potty training etc. Starting school early also helps the child to conquer his/her separation anxiety early and gives the mother more room for other things because the child becomes independent. Also creche starts 7 - 6 for 0-18months and 18 -24months starts 7 -4pm . You help the child to learn building blocks and all. Can't begin to list the benefits and no i don't own a creche but saw the necessity of it for children. So pls go ahead and enrol the child and thank me later

Poster will select advice that best suits him or her but if he decides to pick hers, do you know the poster will go tell his wife that it is not necessary and not see the importance which is what happened to me and i found it difficult doing other personal things for myself as a SAHM without help and nursing a child whereas the child can learn, I have my own time which will help me psychologically and mentally. It is 'stuff' and not 'stuffs'.

This is one of the reasons why enrolling a child in a school at an early age is encouraged. cool

The jab is totally unnecessary. She merely gave her opinion and you have yours too. We agree to disagree and I'm sure u know multitude of people make same mistake.

The problem with how your opinion is stated though is statements like the bolded will make some mums feel inadequate and can eat away at people's confidence and self esteem. We're supposed to build each other up as women. Some SAHMs are too busy with chores/other kids, some aren't well educated, some children learn better in group settings, some children learn better and take authority figures more seriously... so many things that can lead to a SAHM choosing for her child to go to school

It's great if you can home school your child till PhD level, but parents who choose to start school before 3 years old are not money wasters who have nothing better to do with their money

Someone dropped a question on a public forum for an open opinion. Am not giving advice I repeat am not giving advice its just my own opinion and I see nothing wrong with it. Its not as if am prescribing a medication or something. Its left for the one asked for the opinion to pick whichever his ok with.

All those stuffs you mentioned your kids do is something a child of that age should do. It all depends if the mum dedicates her time for that. If its socialising i wouldn't agree less.

All this explanation is totally uncalled for. You decided to pick a simple opinion twist it and interpret it in a complex way sha.
I never mentioned anything like home schooling. My statement only said it is not necessary/compulsory for a stay at home or less busy mum to enroll a child below 3yrs in school.. Or is it the waste of money i said? OK it's not waste of money for those who have the money.

Madam that doesn't know typo pls correct the above.

As if it was not when your right hand could touch your left ear from your head that you were enrolled in school. Does that stop you from being a grammar teacher?

A public forum you said, I corrected where you wrote is a waste of money and they don't learn anything. Both the parents and teachers that send/teach them are time and money wasters.
Is left for the parents to choose when they want to send their wards to school, some even start at age 4 or 1. Some schools don't even charge much.
The poster you mentioned wrote he's already arguing with the wife over it.
Like you wrote, is a public forum; a lot of people come here to read and pick one thing or another.

The kind of advice you people drop on this thread nawa shocked
My daughter started school 22m, I'm a SAHM
She learnt many things, she can socialize, count and write 1-10, recognize some colors, say Aunty etc
All these I tried teaching her on my own but she refused to listen maybe because I'm mummy.
Is not about being buoyant or not, is choice of the parents.
Small small with the advice please

Thanks mama. Im also a SAHM. My son started pre nursery at 2years. Everything you wrote up there is the same with my son.

Pls mamas lets be mindful of how u give advice pls.

my 2 kids started schooling at a year and 6months.

it helped them both in speech development, socializing and coping with separation anxiety.
Besides, in Nigeria today,i think it's best to start school early so u can also finish very early. You see all these job vacancies that are looking for 22yr olds with 5 yrs experience(smh).

mamas pls let's be tolerant of each other's opinions. I have noticed people are taking the opinion of others too personal.

Please mama, it’s okay. Let everyone speak their mind. This is a public forum and you can’t enforce your own opinion on others. If you are not okay with what other mama said just pass. On a public forum, you pick what it’s best for you and you don’t have to go with every suggestion dished out.

As for school, everything depend on the parent and their pocket. If you are stay home mom, I don’t see any reason why you should be spending so much money on school unless you are very busy. Even abroad, their pre-school start sometimes at 2 years above because of the money involved.

If you have excess money, do you but if you are not buoyant enough you and not busy mom too, nurture your child until you know h/she can learn something from school.

We all know about the social development and all but don’t be deceived some children develop on their own more.

Please let’s rest

Good morning mamas, please my 8 weeks old baby makes this snoring sound when she sleeps.. she sounds like she has catarrh but mucus isn’t flowing out from her nose, I only notice dry mucus when she wakes up in the morning. I also feel she has mucus in her throat cos she tries to cough out sometimes but nothing comes out. She also vomits breastmilk sometimes after feeding. Please how do I deal with this? Is there a way I can loosen the mucus so she can breath freely?

Sending a toddler to school is quite optional, people have various reasons for doing so.
If you can afford to keep them at home with you, that's fine in fact I raise my two hands for mums that do this.

Taking my 2year old to school even before he was two was one of the best decision I have made cos I can do other things, work and personal runs. While I am sure he is in a secured environment learning what he should pick up at his age. I can't state all he has learnt as I am pleasantly surprised. The best was when my baby was telling me sorry and patting my head and he was barely 2years then.

Daddy, if you know you insist on wifey not putting your child at school now, pls u have to be very involved in the home front before madam starts looking 10 years older due to stress. Cheers.

Of course it's a public forum and anyone entitled to their opinion, but the question was not asked by the wife that spends time with the child, rather a working father.
He asked to form his decision, you and I are not privy to their way of life and can not answer for the woman,so putting it like it's waste of money and time,is wrong.
We do not know the woman's reasons for wanting to put the child in school.
It's not only about excess money or less busy, your definition of busy is different in alot of cases.

*WHAT IS DIAPER RASH?*

Diaper rash is a very common problem, paeditricians say. It is caused by irritation in the diaper area and can be very uncomfortable for your baby, experts say.

According to paediatricians, the rash can get worse if it isn’t taken care of properly. Infection can occur, including infection with the yeast Candida.

*Some home remedies for diaper rash*

*Coconut oil*

Coconut oil is one of the most widely used home remedies for diaper rash thanks to its antifungal, antimicrobial properties. It can be used as a moisturizer to heal and soothe the baby’s skin. It is also great for everyday use.

*Shea Butter*

Another excellent remedy is Shea butter which has been used for various skin problems for centuries with excellent results. Its antifungal properties reduce the inflammation caused by the rash and helps with the healing process.
