Not it's not Trump's fault for the very strict scrutiny of US visa approvals.

Blame it on the very high increase in US visa abusers who have overstayed there legal presence in the US and has increase the number of illegal(undocumented) immigrant residing in the US.

Anyways, to answer your question about your chances of getting the US visa now that's a 50/50 and it will depend on how convincing your ties are and will be believed by the US visa officer.

Good day every one have been following this thread for some time now,I refused to come out and ask for suggestions cos of the way some pple are handling issues here..pls I need suggestions before going for my interview in March.
Am a single mother,I want to travel for Easter celebration with my child for just 10days.
I work as an administrative manager for an educational consultant for 4years now,my salary is 150k. I have a significant amount in my account.in my traveling plans I stated using 1m for the trip no invitation letter,no relative, intend staying in an home stay for that 10days.
My wedding is coming up by may.have only travel to Ghana for 4days.
1.do I need to provide my wedding iv
2.is my job enough prove for my home ties

I need to leave for the US in March, but I've read in a lot of places that the chance of getting one's visa approved is now very low. Thanks to Trump.

My case: I just started working for a startup and they'd like me to come over for a month to meet the team and to get a grasp of the business.

My profile right now doesn't look that compelling because I don't have strong ties like being in a marriage.
I don't have any property worth mentioning either and more importantly, I don't have a travel history.

Apart from an invitation letter, what other things should I require of the company?

More importantly, what are my chances of getting my visa approved?

You will be very lucky to get an interview date before March so the earlier you make up your mind and go ahead to apply, the better. All the best

Hello,

My relative wants to visit the US this May, is it too early to apply now? 4 months ahead.
I searched the website to see if there is a window period, just like we have the 120-day rule with student visa

Check the size in pixel ; it mustn't exceed the required size if you are using the normal 2 by 2 ( resize the dimension to 600 by 600)

Make sure the photo presents the full head from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin

The person in the photo should have a neutral expression and be facing the camera

Photo must be 2 inches by 2 inches
The height of the head (top of hair to bottom of chin) should measure 1 inch to 1 3/8 inches (25 mm - 35 mm)
Make sure the eye height is between 1 1/8 inches to 1 3/8 inches (28 mm – 35 mm) from the bottom of the photo

The top of the head, including the hair, to the bottom of the chin must be between 50% and 69% of the image's total height. The eye height (measured from the bottom of the image to the level of the eyes) should be between 56% and 69% of the image's height.

Image pixel dimensions must be in a square aspect ratio (meaning the height must be equal to the width). Minimum acceptable dimensions are 600 pixels (width) x 600 pixels (height). Maximum acceptable dimensions are 1200 pixels (width) x 1200 pixels (height).

Go to a good photographer(they are all over the place), tell them you need a passport photo for US visa application. It's better you upload (equally edit if required) the soft copy of the picture taken as scanning may not give you the desired result.

The truth is that there is really no laid down procedure. Take your IV. Maybe you should consider going alone. Pray you meet a patient officer who will really listen to you

Na wa o

To get something as mundane as visa, someone will have to crack his head, and jump through many hoops and eventually Thank God of he getz the visa in Nigeria

Is this how low it has gotten to?

I will apply later this year tho, and see how it goes.

if it goes well fine, if not, fine.

O boy it's degrading, see how people are thanking God for visa. When I got a reason to travel, I will try my luck too. Either way it turns out all well and good

Visa approved today. I have been a silent follower and this forum actually helped put me through all the steps needed.

Appointment was for 6.30am I was 8 in line but second to be interviewed by the white guy in window 3. The lady before me who was a Medical Doctor going for MPH also got her student visa approved. Every other window I observed were busy dishing out blue papers mostly to students.

I noticed the VO that interviewed me took his time interviewing the lady with student visa before approving her unlike others.

My transcript

VO: Why are you going to the US
Me: I am going for the initial convening of the Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity program.

VO: Tell me about this fellowship
Me: It's a non residential fellowship for a year with 3 physical convenings in Us and Rwanda. It trains global leaders and professionals working in diverse areas to foster health equity.

VO: How would this benefit you?
Me: I work for an organization that provides free oral healthcare to the less privileged. This will enable me learn from leaders in health equity how to build a more sustainable health organization, the mentoring and online courses is also an added advantage since it will put me through organizing different community projects.

VO: This organization you work for provides only free dental care. (He didn't ask for the name)
Me: Yes, I am a Dentist

VO: And you founded this organization
Me: Yes I did

VO: Kept typing for a long time, I guess he was searching for my organization. He apologized for taking too long that the system was loading.
Me: No problem

VO: Have you been outside Nigeria before?
Me: Yes, I had my degree in Ukraine, went to Slovakia in 2009, Uk 2012, Ghana 2016

VO: What were you doing in Slovakia?
Me: Clinical elective/rotation

VO: Uk?
Me: Visiting family

VO: Ok, your visa has been approved.....
Me: Thanks

He didn't ask if I was married or had children, also didn't ask how much I earned and all. No documents were requested.

Thanks everyone.

Lagos NIV, how does one skip the 'Spouse' information on the ds-160? A divorced/legally separated individual does not wish to include the spouse's information.

Does she have a travel history?
How did her son acquire citizenship?
What in your opinion is the reason for denial?
She can apply as soon as she thinks her circumstances (vague) has changed.
