Initially I didn't wanted to comment on this thread at least not until I saw your statement (bold above).

It may interest you to know that Canada is the easiest and most beneficial country to turn to for education.
Better than Germany or whatever country you're advertising.

Which other country in the world will readily grant you a PERMANENT RESIDENCY after your graduation? Coupled with citizenship after 4 years.

Every school in Canada are ready to give you partial or full scholarships provided they see the zeal in you to come over and study and stay behind to further contribute to their economy.

See? You may have your own facts and figures but me and many other Nigerian students see clearly that Canada is our best bet and I will not fold my arms and watch you mislead others.

I don’t think everyone goes to uni with the intention of working and settling in the country of study. And even if they had a favourable immigration policy I‘ don’t think U.K. is an attractive place to settle in. Spend your working years paying for a small house and small car with a couple thousand pounds in savings . Will rather get a good job in Nigeria or South Africa or Ghana than work in U.K. . And I believe some others will share a similar view

God bless you for this comment.

That's what I keep letting everyone to understand, the UK is not a favourable country to settle down in.
They may have a top notch world class education but their immigration policy is very strict especially towards most of their former colonies.

Coupled with the fact that it's very hard to make money in a country like the UK, you spend years paying for mortgage of an apartment that is not even bigger than an average gateman's house in naija.

They will tax you down to the shìt in your toilet.
Have you ever wondered why people in the UK are always stingy? Well, you have your answers.

The pound sterling is one currency that you have to work through your nose to earn. The UK is a service-based economy, getting rich in a country like that is seemingly difficult. All they do is work and flex and pay tax, no room to save money.

Spot on bro . I lived there for two years and was always wondering why people struggled to get jobs/sponsorship when they had better options somewhere else. I encouraged one of my Ghanaian friends to look towards Africa but he kept talking bout the importance of foreign work experience and all. He eventually returned to Ghana and got a position at the bank of Ghana ( central bank of Ghana) and built his first house before he clocked 30. Each time I go to Accra he reminds me of the tiny room in lived in while in U.K. and thanks God for where he is today. My other Rwandan friend jokingly told me how her colleagues were doing well in Kigali and how she couldn’t wait to go back to Rwanda. She got returned to work for the justice for Rwanda . Another Nigerian I know got a job as a consultant at the Ethiopian agricultural transformation agency earning descently well. Each time I go to U.K. I feel more and more convinced that I made the right decision to channel my effort towards securing a good job in Africa.
Some people I know in USA came through the study option but they are struggling ( by American standard ) . Now Canada is a popular destination for Nigerians but again I also know people who secured residence permits via provincial nomination/express entry but had better jobs in Nigeria . Someone left a full time position at NCC to work for some small company in Saskatchewan and continues to convert his $CA65k gross salary to his annual package at NCC. Location doesn’t determine it all

It depends if its fully funded scholarship (covering all cost including even flight and some instances covering monthly stipends)or just scholarship covering tuition and books. Find out from the website

Every nation / state /city has challenges . It is left for us to decide where we want to settle. For me I have lived in U.K., Nigeria as well as North America and I am yet to regret working in nigeriA. I started from 30k a month as a youth corper and two years later I was already netting 658k a month excluding estacode which I earn once in a while when nominated to attend a training. I visit USA at least once yearly and U.K. at least twice yearly and people earning the equivalent of 15-35M annually tell me how they’d relocate to naij if they get a 500k per month job. Leave all those lack of oxygen you are lamenting about . Someone smart will see an opportunity in the challenge and fill in the gap while earning money. One of my former classmates at mastercard in USA is struggling to get transferred to their lagos office . Comfort can be expensive in Nigeria but once it can be afforded a good doing Nigerian is not likely to be struggling to be accepted by an European or American or struggling for residence permit and the likes. In my home state my parents home was built in 1984 and it’s still very lovely with good maintenance. Maintenance is key. Good Jobs are not easy to come by anywhere . I only decided to look for/continue to look for a good job in Africa .

Tanks sir for your respond. Am in my finals in the university here in Nigeria. I do check for postgraduates scholarship news on scholarsguru.org. I see lot of scholarships from Sydney and other schools in Canada. I plan to apply into one once I have my result and try my luck. I have nothing to loose. And if provided I win a scholarship, Will getting a visa be easy here in Nigeria provided the scholarship is a fully funded type.

Who told you visa is hard to get in Canada?
I might agree on the US because their visa process is mostly based on discretion of the Visa Officer during interviews at the embassy/consulate.

But I've observed also that Canada do not conduct interviews, rather their visa process is strictly based on evaluation of one's application.
If they see you're well qualified for the visa, which might include:
Good test scores, a letter of acceptance from the said school, good financial records/scholarship backing.

You will definitely get the visa

Well, about the case of people leaving a seemingly better job here in Nigeria and going to Canada, I wouldn't really blame them.

It's the *quality of life* that really matters to them, securing that citizenship for them and their kids.

It all boils down to one's choices.
You made a great choice by leaving the UK, whereas someone else made a great choice by going abroad.

Different strokes for different folks. smiley

First of all, I'm no sir grin
I'm also a student like you.

I wanna assure you that getting a visa won't be a problem provided you're accepted by the University, people who get denied probably had one or two issues which the Canadian embassy was not comfortable with.

These are countries that are looking for young educated and skilled minds to come and contribute to their economy. Just get at least a 2.1, write GRE, blast it well, and you definitely get scholarships and grants from various schools you applied to, especially if you fall within the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) field.

Well said abnot. Do not forget that there are also people that got jobs in some of the biggest companies in the world after the completion of their courses in US/Canada. As an example, a friend of mine left for the US when we were in Part 4 in Oau. He was not doing too well then but eventually became the best student in his university in the US which ultmately landed him a job in Microsoft.

I can continue to list more peole with life changing experiences after their exit from the country. People live the country for a myriad of reasons. Do you consider the life changing experiences your friends had in the UK?

Finally, it's a pity that years of misrule by successive governments at all levels has made most Nigerians think that life is all about money. cry

In conclusion, if it's about the money, some will make it here and some will make it outside Nigeria. To each his own. smiley

Quality of life matters, u can't say it should be ignored just because of money....
In case of dire emergency in naija, that's when u will realise money can't buy life....
As u said u need good wages to live a life of comfort in naija.....
This include good schools, good hospitals, good residential apartments, good cars, foreign travels....
Hospital cleaners in uk travel to Barbados n Malta for holidays, they have their own home, their own cars, ownership of IPhone is not class but choice, if their kids work hard in school they can go to oxford or cambridge, n they don't have to worry about basic needs......
A child not academically gifted can exploit other opportunities according to his talent n make something out of his life.....
If Anthony Joshua had grown up in Nigeria, he would have ended up an agbero......
That to me is a definition of a good quality of life n a functioning society....
99.99% of Nigerians will never earn 658k in a month, neither will they be opportune to embezzle public funds.....
So a good life will forever be a mirage to them.....
Of course, some Nigerians in uk wouldn't mind coming back home if they can secure a 400k per month job....
But how many of such jobs are open for starters or at entry level.....

Its becoming obvious most Nigerians dont really care about this country.....
So long as they can secure their dream job, the rest can go n ****......
No wonder they support the likes buhari n atiku....
