Why is that the Average young single Nigerian lady in their 20s doesn't care to save for the future undecided undecided undecided

This is something I came to conclusion about all over the years, Girlfriends never ask you about how you save or try to make you courteous about spending money & all. They themselves don't even save that much, except those earning a huge salary, they prefer packaging themselves to look good, buying the latest wig/weavon rather than investing or saving money.

A lady would look so good & well packaged, using latest iPhone without 30k cash in her account, No savings at all. Nothing, no shii shii.

Late 2017, I had some money with me, I wanted to invest & also had an eye for a nice looking Car (I've had this in mind for a while now), was left in-between decisions. Every one of my Girlfriends were so excited & advised me to buy the car instead & Fvck investment (Well, they didn't really say it this way, but pretty much sums it up).

The only time the discussion of savings come is when marriage talks has entered, she will now accuse me that I haven't been saving.

Girl: "Ah Jide, what have you been doing with your money sinceeeee."
Me: Spending it on you obviously ¯\_(๑❛--❛๑)_/¯ Everytime you always want Pizza & coldstone ice cream with Special Toppings remember?

It seems to me that younger women in Nigeria specifically like the "perception of being Rich" rather than being actually Rich (Money in the bank itself).

Most young women don't save, they just spend & spend. Why?

Dear OP, don't use the word average to base your opinion. Limit it to the females you dated or you're friends with. There are prudent women that abound. I hope you get to meet them of which if you do I hope you listen when she suggests investment.

Are you one of the prudent women in their 20s? Cuz this family section, I can almost guarantee that you guys don't think that way ONLY obviously because you are married and you think differently now.

Since we are talking about changing girlfriends, do you have a set of prudent ladies to suggest? I assume you are married & I can almost guarantee that you acted this way in your 20s too.

It's very true that an average Nigerian lady hardly save . She would rather spend on clothes, shoes and accessories with the mentality that a guy would finance the major needs. I don't know how we ladies got that mentality.
Although we have some ladies with a different mentality.

I'm still in my 20s.

Ask your predecessors what they did. Men keep getting married to prudent ladies every Saturday

You need to change your circle of girlfriends instead of generalising. It seems you're attracted to immature, hungry babes, or they are attracted to you. (Doesn't matter. The fact is there is an attraction and it is not beneficial).

I know a lot of ladies in that age group that are financially wise and prudent. Search for them and leave your hungry girlfriends alone.

stick to one mature girlfriend like a prudent person, and watch that problem disappear.
Both of you can make plans for the future together and work on it together.

Guys get attracted to flashy physical girls and complain about the means by which they attain the flashiness.
Pick a battle undecided

Or some times they tell the girls they want a mature reasonable woman who is not all about the ephemeral things, but their actions and the way they lust after the exact opposite of what they claim they want makes you realize they don’t even know what they want.

Thank you ma'am, Women just love to package irrespective of whether they actually have money or not, you won't know. Let's tell ourselves the truth.

Other women on this thread are claiming ladies love to save. On a scale of 1 to 10, 8 ladies would probably prefer to look great rather than to look ordinary & have some money in the account. Well there is another case for young ladies who actually earn quite a lot of money in Nigeria, I'm not referring to those ones.

In short, don't search. Ask God to direct your footsteps to them. He answers prayers

Footsteps? Lmao last time I checked, the ladies I met in church speaking in tongues are exactly this way. grin grin cheesy

These ladies are not even hungry, they just prefer to enjoy life as it comes as opposed to saving & enduring to reap in the future. Some of them actually have good qualities you can consider as wife except for financial awareness. I just needed a clear understanding of why ladies have such mentality.

Your write up has just shown YOU cannot save.

You need to get some discipline.

Those ladies haven't complained they dont have any savings, so stop bringing them into this matter.

Take responsibility for your financial life, and stop expecting your girlfriends to do so for you.

You have only exposed your weakness, by indulging your friends in your daily ice cream adventures.

My sister earns 80k a month, she does not pay bills or house rent because she lives with my folks upstairs in the main house and guess what? She has no savings, infact, she always goes broke before the month ends.

She has a very poor saving culture. I began saving in secondary school.

Re: Why Is That The Average Young Nigerian Lady Doesn't Care To Save For The Future? by pocohantas(f): 6:42am On Jan 11, 2019
The OP didn't generalize, he said AVERAGE. Take 10 girls, 5 (if not more) out of them do not save. They are only after flashy life, iPhone, weaves, clothes, designer bags... etc. is the above true? The answer is yes. Let's not dance around it.

How many young girls would just stay and ask their bf his career goals? His plans for the future? If he is fulfilled at his place of work? If he has bought a land? Tell him about Tbills, FD? How many ask these questions? Not just ask because she read it from a book, but because she means it and can offer good counsel.

OP, because they know you will always give them. It there is no guy somewhere that will be begging a girl to come out and take icercream/pizza, on his own account kwa, some will start having sense. Pick the kind of girl you want, it might take a while, but frugal girls abound. You just might find them plain, since they don't spend all their money on fancy things.

Blame the parents.

Working/earning and savings is non existence and it's something that should be imbibed in teen ages.

Not just girls but boys too @ OP.

I dont feel anyhow about your post. I have just told you what i was able to infer from it. The onus of saving your money and investing it is on you. You alone know where the shoe pinches and how easy/ hard it was for you to save your money.
Perhaps your lady friends are not good advisers. That doesn't make them bad savers. If the money was theirs, would they have invested it or bought a car/liability with it?
There's a way you guardedly look after your own hard earned money.
