Why the extreme privacyhuh
Let me make some assumptions here...
Its either the past is hunting you or your hubby has a past he is hidding too... You wanna hide your marriage from your previous exes... I guess... Im still trying to figure out the reason for the extreme privacy...
Why should you also hide your wedding ceremony from the world, except you dont have the capacity to contain and cater for them... But if its privacy, the world should know your new status, yet without noise...

Mind u, it will be very easy for u to double date even before you marry if you dont portray the picture that you are already taken...

Bad guys still follow up and woo ladies with rings in their hands talk less of the ones without rings... Yet claiming a relationship

I really enjoy my life private and off social media. I wouldn't even want a public engagement because the guy involved may be embarrassed in the process, (depending on how deep the relationship is) and this is because I have to ask questions, clarify things, etc.
All these public stunts and creative engagements are great o... But a good engagement should come with a date... otherwise you may have to reconsider it.
So, it's either the lady loves her life private or she's being careful.

I dont just understand what you people now mean by "PRIVATE" in a relationship or in a marriage.
What are you guys hiding?
Who are you hiding it from?

You need to always remember that... "you can run, but you can't hide from your past..."

If you take a critical look at this privacy of a thing in relationships, it is either the lady is hiding his new serious boyfriends from his heartbroken exes or the lady is hiding the relationship from the public because of her secret paroles "runs" for benefits and other forms of materialism...

Sorry to say, most ladies are always guilty of this privacy of a thing in relationship when they are kept in the dungeon of bad pasts that still hunts them or looking for privacy to protect their present extra affairs...

Note...the public stunts is the beauty of marriage

Private in the sense that I don't live my life on social media. I don't fancy posting everything that happens in my life on social media especially, my relationships! Interpret it the way you want to but I don't think posting my relationship on social media is a nice thing to do... Bro, 'happily ever after' does apply to all o.
I'm not hiding anything neither am I running after all, both parents and friends should be aware of my new status... or isn't that enough? If I even have my way, I'd prefer an indoor Traditional Marriage and a great White Wedding.

And yes, public stunt is beautiful in a real marriage situation.

There is nothing bad in what she said, I personally will not post an engagement picture cause I don't want monitoring spirits to know, I can only post my wedding pictures to take them by surprise, these days people hardly post their engagement picture, in case things go south cause engagement also doesn't mean marriage, so that is what she is trying to avoid.

engaged means nothing. If she's seeing another guy then two of them might be thinking the "engaged" is meant for them. So putting engaged is not enough to convince me if I were the guy.....
What are the chances she's engaged to two different men at around the same time?

No mind them jooor...

Na so. You made a good point...

But it would not have been possible for such a lady to engage to two guys at once if she makes her relationship status a public one or make it public that she is has been proposed to...

In relationships, privacy is the tool of a player or the cheating partner... If u know u know...

Or to finish all doubts, she should mention who she's engaged to. I think that would put him at ease.

Two things are involved, she either still have some baggage to clear out or she doesn't like public attention.
Personally, I don't live a social media life and don't like any form of attention.

You sound so unbelievably naive, it's almost cute.

Personally, I am a very private person and hate being the center of attraction, and I know there are so many like us out there. People need to learn that there was life before soclai media and not everything should be out there. If you like living a noisy life all when and good, but learn to respect other people's desire to keep a low profile. This is where your man is getting it wrong and he may lose a good girl because of his myopia.

Most of our parents did not do public proposals and all that modern day bullchit and they have had successful marriages. All these noisiness is a 21st century trend which is not edifying, except to people you want to entertain with all that unnecessary display; people who will still whisper behind their fingers -"I hope the marriage will last after all these feferity."

Your defensive mechanism well-garnished with your one-sidedness of reasoning is an iota of myopism in case you are just getting to know. So you are canvassing for extreme privacy in relationship? Why? And why are ladies always the victims of agitating for a private relationship or private marriage?
Survey shows that they mostly wanna run away or hide away from being hunted by their pasts or still keeping their extra affairs...

No one is perfect tho...

And pls note that by saying public stunts... im not supporting too much noise when it comes to marriage... Its just that you only have one opportunity to do it in your lifetime, so do it big, do it well if you have the capacity

Kindly tell me 3 basic reasons why partners or a partner do crave for privacy in relationships?

I know the answer, i just want to test your ideological reasoning...

OP you are the one here that appears naive. If you already have your mind made up of what you think why did you come on this forum and post and ask a question you feel you already know the answer to? Everyone that gives you an answer telling you the girl may just want privacy you oppose and prefer the view the girl is hiding the relationship because she is cheating or something negative. You are the one that has a one sided view.

Like some have said and I agree - as long as close friends and family know that’s all the matters. Is social media going to contribute to the wedding costs or is she going to invite all the people on Facebook that she follows or that follow her to the wedding- most likely no. Is it not the people she will invite to the wedding that really need to know she is engaged? Why must the whole world know?

There are people in this life that just prefer a quiet and simple life. I don’t know why that is hard for you to understand. They have not committed any crime. Not everyone wants to announce their relationship business online - Did we not hear of Simi and Adekunle Gold’s wedding at the time they were set to Wed, before then it was kept quiet, including their engagement. Please go and ask them why? Have you seen any pictures of their wedding since online? Nope. Have they committed crime? There are individuals that are just private, whilst there are individuals that want the world to know every little thing that occurs in their life (Like Tiwa and her ex husband)- none is a crime. Each to their own. We should respect everyone’s individuality so far it is not causing any harm.

Your friend clearly is immature if his girlfriend simply not wanting to post pics of engagement online is making him have headache. If he does not trust her why is he even marrying her in the first place I wonder.

People can post engagement photos pictures online, pre-wedding photo pictures online and still cheat on their partners.

In a nutshell- I do not really see any problem here - as long as she has informed family and close friends.

Remain blessed.

Your comments mirrored my thoughts exactly. Op and his friend already have made up their minds that the babe is not to be trusted so why come here asking for advice?

Engaging a girl doesn’t equal marriage and what law says you must post your engagement pictures online or on your status?

It looks to me like the friend engaged the girl just to make sure the girl is faithful to him cos going by the Op’s mindset, I guess his friend shares the same.

When does posting engagement pictures guarantee fidelity from anyone? So you mean to say all those who post their engagement pictures are faithful to their partners?

To each his own sha!!

I guess you won't understand because you are not a lady. So leave it. Guys can be wicked at times. Engage a girl just to tie her down and scare men away from her. Months gone, no marriage, years gone, still no marriage. You mustn't have to experience that before you can learn. You learn from others experience.
Your guy should go and pay her bride price and not public engagement.

Well, did she at least update her relationship status to "Engaged"?
Not everyone likes to share every aspect of their lives with "friends" on social media. Some of them are true friends & some are just surveillance cameras, strategically placed there to monitor your every move. I personally find nothing suspicious about this, unless she has a history of cheating.
Suddenly I feel sorry for the lady. He seems like a drama queen. When has posting pictures been evidence of loyalty

That's still a secret relationship... I believe true lovers should be able to tell the world about their new status ... Being engaged...
When has that been an evidence if anything? I know people who post their wives pics and declare all sorts of things on social media yet the relationships are just horrible. Your friend should focus on understanding the girl better and building a sustainable relationship. All this facebook stuff is irrelevant IMO
