AWESOME! But why are you looking towards PhD only?
Honestly,it is better he applies directly to PhD.
I noticed the US offer more funding for direct PhD than masters in STEM courses and with a profile like that he can get a professor that will like him to work under him and possibly help push for a GA.

Yes of course I can file for an appeal, but it will require me employing the services of an immigration lawyer in Canada and paying a fee of up to $6000.

It's expensive, so I dropped that idea.

The decision of the Canadian embassy is similar to an order given to a failed asylum seeker banning them from entry for 5 years it's the same even here in europe. The mistake has already been made and for you to clear this its a very lengthy process . Just stay away from them for 5 years if u are not willing to spend money on a lawyer and u are free after 5 years . As for the usa I think u can apply again and make sure u are very sincere with all details on the Ds160 form.

Hi everyone.
Great job so far

I understand that we've been compiling transcripts.
I'm not sure if Part 13 has been compiled but I was wondering if some people can join in compiling 13 (if not compiled) and 14.

However, in this case, we won't just compile everything together but break it into sections so that anyone who wants to read transcript for a course peculiar to him can navigate directly to it rather than having to scan though multiple transcripts.

There could be sections for chemical engineering rated courses, CS related, Mathematics related, etc.
What are your thoughts about this @justwise

If Justwise grants us permission to continue, kindly indicate interest if you wanna assist in this little bit of compilation. Thank you.

you are right it depends on her future goals tho...! She may also want to work in the Research and Innovation department in these tech companies like Google, apple and the likes... In which the Phd would be a plus and an edge. However, you can also get into that even with a masters. It depends on the prior projects she has worked on, cuz the market is literally created for tech skilled persons right now. (I checked 2018 data for jobs companies filed h1b/greencard visas for and close to 95% if not more are for tech related jobs)

Also it depends on her interest she may want to do academic research hence PhD. Well, whatever path she chooses, would advice she does her due diligence by researching people who have taken the same path to achieve her dreams.

Hi,

You have a good transcript. In fact, on a good day, this transcript qualifies for approval. However, I picked one thing that may have spoilt your chances.

1. Applying to US, Canada and US again shows some sort of desperation. And the fact you had no financial aid (aka funding) and was being fully sponsored by "an uncle" might have made you come across as desperate. Also, your school is not very popular. Google shows it as a small private school. I will advise you apply to a public school which can give you financial aid and shows you as a genuine student rather than a desperate immigrant. If you noticed, the VO asked again about your sponsor's financial power because he/she may have not-so-convinced about it.

Forgive my choice of words.

It was okay you didn't lie. Try again with strong financial aid and let's see how it goes. If (God forbids) it doesn't go well, then it may be likely that the Canada stuff has spolit your chances. Then you may want to try other alternatives.

God bless you.

Hi,

People with <2.75 GPAs get funded by most other schools. Read the transcripts here and see their success stories. To be honest with you, I think the funding was a more serious reason for your refusal even more than the Canada stuff. The VO even asked you if you're sure your sponsor can handle the bills. That question shows he/she has some doubts about your sponsor's financial power and seeing your history with visa applications (US + Canada), it made you appear desperate.

I never said your school is a bad one! Don't misjudge me. But honestly, if you do a survey here, you will discover that the visa acceptance rate for "small private colleges" here is lower than for funded students at large public schools. That is how the experience has been and sadly there is nothing no one can do about it. Even with my strong knowledge of US schools, I had to query Google to check your school and I know a lot of people here did that too.

Your transcript was awesome - an acceptance on a good day! But if you finally decide to wait until the fall semester, consider applying and getting funded by a public university. With this transcript, you would have gotten the visa if it were a funded offer from Georgia State, ETSU, Cleveland State or a Tennessee State as opposed to a no funded offer from Touro College.

And if they admitted you without a GRE, things may get worse when you are asked that question in your next interview.

As for the visa denial stuff, I think you did well there by saying the truth. No one could tell the information the VO had about the whole issue. If you had lied, you may have gotten banned by the US too.

That's all I have to say.

Exactly my thoughts!!

When you use the word being desperate, it sounds like my intention to study in either study in US or Canada is not geniune. Please don't use that word like that, it's not nice. There's nothing wrong if a person applies to Canada, and then decide to apply to US. Saying someone is desperate is very negative. Instead of saying someone is desperate, why not say the person is being persistent in chasing his dream which is a good thing.

Please it's a mind thing, and the word Desperate is a negative word.

Secondly, my sponsor had enough money to pay for my tuition fee for one year with plenty of change left in his account, so in my own opinion, I don't think it's the account. However, I have noted your opinion, and I say thank you.

1. I never called you desperate. Being desperate IN THE EYES OF THE VO is different from being desperate in reality. If you read my comment clearly (which I doubt you did), you will discover that I felt the VO misjudged you by thinking you were desperate. So I don't understand all the fuss you've created claiming I called you a desperate being. I never did! I only insinuated that the VO might have misjudged you for being desperate looking at your visa application history and the fact you were attending your program fully sponsored by an "uncle".

If you are a keen follower of this thread, you will notice that these two points are quite risky with the US visa process.

2. I never questioned your sponsor's ability to pay your fee. I don't know you and I don't know your sponsor either. So how can I determine if your sponsor can afford your fees when I don't know either of you? My comments are based on your transcript which you wrote. When the VO asked that question about your sponsor's ability to pay, it shows he/she was not convinced about it. The VO might have misjudged you again but unfortunately in this visa process, what the VO thinks is what matters whether he/she is right or wrong..

So, it's better you understand comments by people before making false accusations on them. I hate being accused falsely and you just did that simply because you failed to read and understand my comments properly. Also, when you post a problem like this on a public forum, it's better you listen to advice from people especially those that have been in this process. If you know better, why post the problem in the first place?

Also, there is an adage that says "advice no be curse". So even when someone gives you a stupid advice (of course, mine isn't stupid), it's best you acknowledge it codedly and discard it. You don't openly attack someone that spent some precious minutes of his time offering help to you. That person wouldn't have bothered if you didn't ask in the first place. Use your upper!

At the end of the day, what the VO thinks is what matters whether it is wrong or right. Your job is to do everything in the way the VO believes is correct. Many people who were denied visas for lack of GRE were genuine students but the VO thought otherwise and that was what mattered. Many people who were denied visas to CALMUS were genuine students but the VO thought otherwise. So if you applied to Canada and the US for genuine reasons (which I think you did), but the VO thought otherwise, your opinion/intention doesn't matter! The earlier you accept this fact and dance to the tune of the VO, the easier it will be for you to accept comments here.

I honestly see no need for a Ph.D. (for tech) if the career goal is not to work in R & D or academia.
Most tech companies I've seen recruit Master's and PhDs for similar roles
Even Quant roles in Investment banks and hedge funds I've seen recruit Master's and Ph.Ds for similar roles.

Some tech firms like Microsoft have a special recruitment program for Ph.Ds and it is strictly for R & D roles.

Different strokes for different folks.

I am not familar with the Canadian process but is there no way to appeal or at least let them know it was an honest mistake .

Not harsh, they are actually lenient because country like the UK will hand you 10yrs for the same offence.

Schengen countries will ban you from ALL schengen countries for the same offence of lying when asked if you have been refused visa before.

I don't see this as a mistake because it's far too common now

You are very right. It's not a mistake, that question is very concise and clear in UK, Schengen and Canada applications.

And to the fella, dont waste your money anymore. Us and Canada won't give you visas until after the 5 years ban. Ain't got time to sugarcoat anything for you but if you doubt, keep applying and dashing them your money.
