But my surprise is that, why cant people who are interested in politics go to the thread instead of coming here to campaign and positing all sorts. In fact they can go there to argue with whoever they want to argue with who ever they want

Are you people for real herehuh

Stock prices were lower than this at various time last year when @Chibuking81 said people should not buy that bonanza is coming.

Zenith was not bonanza at 19.90 but now at 21.30 its bonanza
FCMB was not bonanza at 1.3 now at 1.8 its bonanza
JB at 20.60 was not bonanza and now at 26 its bonanza?
Even GTB was at 30.9 at some point in time

Unless bonanza has a different definition than the lowest possible prices then I don't see it in all these stocks you are now saying are at bonanza levels.

Truth remains that prices were lower than this when you said your bonanza is coming so stop congratulating yourself for nothing and stop allowing those that are hailing you to deceive you.

As a matter of fact you should apologize to those you prevented from buying then.
One thing we should know is that the stock market is an inefficient market, prices will always go high and low, this could be determined by several factors, such as seasonality, political occurrence, good /bad results, acquisitions, or change in management, from my own view I think wat is important is proper valuation of any stock, cos one cannot actually time the market, as long as you pick quality stocks when they become cheap, one will still make good money in the long run. For instance what has actually changed in the fundamentals of Access bank that won't make one start picking up units gradually from 5.20-5.30.for a stock that traded close to 13 some months ago.

Some times I wonder why NSE allows only a fraction of companies dictate the pace of the ASI.
Just imagine, index went up by about 1% yet most companies did not do so well.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Valueinvestor: 7:02pm On Jan 18, 2019
Can we imagine a stock like zenithbank bank, with a ROE of 25%, P/E of 3.75 selling close to 20 and people still expect it to go lower before they start buying, haba even if they pay just last year's final dividend, that's a dividend yield of around 12.2%,.

Chibuking81:
I have seen that this thread is turning to something else, maybe I will leave this page till after election. The comments am seen this days are always insultive, and never of benefit to me. How can I deceive a grown up men/women. Or have I ask anyone here to pay me from his/her gain for my information.
Though since most post from impostors are inconsequential to my investment, let me give small chance.
If you like stay and if you like leave... I am telling you from reliable source that don't tell people to buy now that its a bargain and prices will go up.

It won't happen, worst is if Buhari wins!

Note: I bought Zenith at 19 last year and have bailed out and you are telling people to buy at 21/22 that it is a bargain... grin

Buy for dividend YES, but capital appreciation NO.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Valueinvestor: 8:40pm On Jan 18, 2019
I have been following Chibuking for sometime on this forum and I can say categorically that he is a well respected member of this forum and his contributions have been of immense benefit to this forum, so I wouldn't say he was being deceitful, but I think where he all got it mixed up is laying too much emphasis on what works for him. We all have different metrics/methods in evaluating stocks, so what works for one person may not work for others. Investing is all about timing and patience. Someone who bought a stock at 22 may make more money with patience than someone who bought at 18.Oga Chibuking your contributions are highly valued here and we would be needing more of it, Let's all try and tolerate each other, I really miss those days when Pa Emma, Rabbidoracle, and wanaj o do chip in one or two advice here

You can't compare the Eps of then and now.
Zenith is a value stock and undervalued currently.
It's not just about buying stocks based on share price alone without checking fundamentals and projection.
Dividends payout is also an important measure.

There are basic points derivable from what you have all postulated about the stock market. But, my point is that we should be mindful that the earnings period for most stock is around the corner, that is why prices are not falling lower than chibuking81's expectation. But then, I forsee those foreign investors who are yet to bail out, using the opportunity to exit the stock market ahead of the election.

Therefore, I still forsee prices getting lower for most stocks, not now, but majorly in february. Surely, their will be huge capital appreciation months after the election.

Depending on which side of the divide you are coming from. Those that bought when it was around N42 will not find it funny and will give you a negative answer. But for those that are entering now around N12.50, I don't think they have anything to loose rather than simply wait and watch as the drama unfold regarding the rights issue and Q4, which for me is a win-win situation.

Above is my opinion please. I bought WAPCO from 13.05 down to 11.90, so now, my average purchase price is 12.41. Therefore, DD applies please.

Some of them sold in tranches and will use the earning period as an opportunity to sell at a good price. What I will advice is for you to have a target price for your stock and enter because after the election, I do not see prices falling down again.

We are not ignorant of the fact that, a cheap stock can always become cheaper, so such a news even makes it more sweeter(there's no harm in having a cheap stock, then buying it cheaper, when an opportunity presents itself) , as long as you have gotten your valuation right in the first place. Buying in tranches will surely do the trick at such times

But just like the last year, be sure to see some stocks make good upwards movement, especially those with good fundamentals and selling at huge discount. Be sure to also see some stocks with excellent full year and quarterly results, and stocks with positive news make good price appreciations.
