I like what you said in your last paragraph. it is quite unfortunate that most people who condemn these phones have actually not used any of them. Tecno, Infinix, gionee, etc are actually far from the crap some people paint them to be. I'm an HTC fan (currently using m9) but after using infinix note 4 pro, I started believing that sometimes, cheap price does not always translate to cheap quality.

Back to our friend's issue, I read what he typed and from his complaint and explanation, one can see never drained it. If what he said about just inserting his simcard and 'using'is indeed accurate then I'd say that it's more likely he had a defective product.

Here is it; When one buys a new phone, the charge on the battery isn't different from future charges to be held by the same battery. However, such batteries can still be used as long as the first time usage will not end up in battery emptying ( I. e even though u use for first time without charging, you must not drain the battery to 0%) to the point that the phone shuts down due to Low Battery.

Some people's belief: If you use a new battery for the first time without charging it full (3hrs plus) then the battery becomes bad.

In reality: Draining a new battery (to its min charge say 0% as you might imagine it) for the first time without first charging is the problem

In fact, the reason why it is advisable to charge to full capacity for first time use is because of battery calibration. It is assumed that you run a very high chance of draining the battery during that first time use. So you're advised to charge full first before usage.

Bottom line: Don't use your new battery for the first time without first charging it if you know you can't help draining it completely before charging it to full.

From what he typed, seems to me, he didn't drain his battery completely before eventually charging it.

Summary: It's bad to completely drain a new battery because if you do, you might suffer low running times for your battery.

Thanks bro..what do you think I should do..I took the phone to the outlet I bought it yesterday and the seller said the battery's performance was normal..I disagreed with him though..he said I should ask anyone who is using the type of phone and compare.. seriously,if not that I've known the Bros for long it would have turned to something else.
.
NB: Please if you are using an infinix note5 and you stay in Ife,osun State, I would really like to meet you.. preferably an OAU student.
Re: ***** Infinix Discussion Thread ***** by photon3106: 9:18pm On Jan 22, 2019
Exactly! Lots of people don't really understand the "charge your new battery (new phone) before use" mantra.

I've bought two new phones at different times without having to wait and charge before use. Yet, I never had problem with battery in both cases.

Suggestion(s): @bolaji73, suppose the outlet you patronized is an infinix recognized outlet/distributor, the best you can do is return it back there for replacement. Should they argue with you that the battery power depreciation is normal, do things that will make the phone drain faster in their presence... things like switching on 3g or 4g, Wi-Fi plus data on as well as all the apps you frequently use, make these app run in background.

Secondly, you may try your luck at CarlCare nearest to you. I'm sure you'd be attended to.

P. S; hope say na confirm infinix sha. You're out of luck o if na clone.

Already tried the Hot 5 Oreo Beta ROM, so far I see no reason why Infinix team aren't making the ROM stable, they should come and learn from a proper software engineer. The runtime is close to perfect, except for some minor issues, Battery actually lasted the way it was on 7.0, Dirac performs even better, RAM Management very good in sense that you can return to almost all minimzed apps. I'll state some of the bugs and features it lacks;

-No virtual menu key drop-down
-Powering on device displays XOS Chameleon, while turning off displays XOS Hummingbird
-Wiping data/factory reset option via recovery seems to be rebooting the device
-Factory mode absent
-The Notification Panel icons seems a bit washed out, with little icons, need to be redesigned
-Screenshot is perfect but, the one that fits into a phone doesn't do it properly
-Boom player crashed on startup but after clearing app data and rebooting, it started working perfectly.
-It lacks MiraCast for editing display colour
-No fonts but understandable.

Those are the bugs for now, no app crashes, it handled more app than previous Android 7, I could minimize 15 apps and still resume the first one. if you can cope with all this bugs, you can go ahead and update.

With this minor bugs I believe Infinix should be able to correct it and come up with a stable update for our device.

Really? Android 8 on infinix hot 5 (x559c). Wow that's cool. But I think it's not the standard Android 8 version, it's rather Android Oreo Go version . I stand to be corrected. pls can you verify this?

Mint Infinix HOT S (x521) for sale. NO CRACK comes with pouch and 3d screen guard
Price: 13k
Problem: When network is switched to 3G/4G, network bars disappear (emergency only or no service) . So, it only works effortlessly on 2G. When set to 2G, one can browse on edge as well as make and receive calls plus sms.
Other features are working perfectly. I use Wi-Fi for large file downloads.

good day tech gurus in the house. please I'm having challenge choosing between infinix note 4 pro and hot 5. I actually picked interest in both phones because of battery capacity ( I'm an heavy phone user). both has a 4500mAh. and again which is better between infinix and tecno? I don't really have a model in tecno phones. thanks

Infinix Note 4 pro and infinix hot 5 are not in the same category. Infinix note 4 pro is far better and more expensive than infinix hot 5. If cash isn't a factor then you should definitely go for the note 4 pro

With respect to your second question about which is better between Infinix and Tecno, if I were you, I wouldn't compare both because one is like the copy of the other but in different case build and design as well as pricing (for selected models) . In fact they are both being produced by the same manufacturer. In terms of durability, both are durable, nice battery life for both but techno is slightly more expensive in terms of specifications to price. Imagine a 1gb ram techno phone in 2018 sold @ about 25k to 30k (thanks to techno for spoiling some nice phones with 1gb of ram. They're cursed with those. )

Infinix on the other hand is what I call 'true value for money'. I you can't go wrong with these.

So which one and which model should you go for? Your call!

Tip: Consider your budget
Consider needed specification. (Trust me, shelling out extra bucks for a phone because of a feature you probably might never use isn't wisdom).
