Hi Ariketalks, interesting posts you have here. Could you kindly help confirm the possibilities of Bank Account Opening for Nigerians and if Dubai paypal accounts can send and receive payments. I read about starting a business in Dubai and its difficulties but since you are in their meatspace I m sure I will be able to get more detailed info. Thank you. ariketalks: 1 Like |

Let's talk about transportation. There are few ways to get around in Dubai. ▪Cabs: This is unarguably the easiest and most direct means of transportation. If you have a lot of cash to spare then you can use this. You can find cabs on major and semi-major roads, very often you'll find them in front of hotels too. Rates vary. They use meters and whatever figure is displayed on the meter is what you'll be required to pay. Meter starts counting at 5.00AED (maybe more). Minimum charge is 12.00AED. So if at the end of your trip it shows 9.00AED, it will round it up in one nanosecond to 12:00AED. ▪Metro: This is the one we use most often. Very convenient and pocket-friendly. Minimum fare is 3.00AED (one way) and depending on distance, it can extend to 5.00AED. (That's the maximum i've paid.) Longer distance may cost more. For this you will need a metro card which you must top up in order to make trips using the metro.Just find a metro station and ask. Very importantly, read One important thing is to look carefully at the signs at the metro station lest you join the wrong train. ▪Bus: I used this for the first time today. One way trip from Emirate towers to Al Satwa costs 6.00AED. Two-way trip costs 10.00AED Bus tickets can be gotten from the "Information" desk at the closest metro station to you. Always remember to check in when you board and checkout before alighting. Refusal to do this attracts a fine of 200AED. You will find the device for this on the left and right sides of the bus upon boarding. Picture: Underground Metro station 5 Likes

We went to Deira City Centre today. There is somewhere upstairs called Gold Valley. This is how it works; ▪You purchase goods worth 300AED and above from any of the stores within the mall. ▪Take your receipt to the customer care stand where they'll vet it and issue you a code. ▪Present the code at Gold Valley and you will be allowed to participate in the treasure hunt. 3 Likes 1 Share

After following the procedures, we were asked to pick two bags from about eight (. Each of the rubber bags contained sand and was secured with a string at the top. After picking, we were told to proceed inside which we did. 3 Likes

Both bags of sand were emptied into 2 perforated trays made of wood, and submerged in a gutter of flowing water to wash out the sand. Apparently, the treasure was supposed to be a coin but one could also end up with nothing. Ours contained semi-precious stones. ariketalks:sorry to take you back.. I want to ask a question.. Is the $1000 BTA fee fixed or can one come with something Lower.. |
Re: See The United Arab Emirates Through The Lens Of A Nigerian by Nobody: 8:10pm On Feb 01, 2019 |
Emeonyerichard: Not a problem sir. ▪It is fixed ▪Of course you can go with lower if you think your spending doesn't require that much. The problem is the Nigerian Immigrations They will most likely not allow you leave Nigeria without a generous amount of stress. Imagine an officer telling us taking credit cards along for emergency sake, is illegal. They claim the BTA must be in cash, so i don't know how you'd bypass that stage. 1 Like |

Fun Facts ▪Every 70 to 80 years, the Dubai Government demolishes old houses and rebuilds them. ▪Every house in Dubai belongs to the royal family. ▪There is no such thing as freehold. Only a 60-year leasehold. ▪40% of Dubai's revenue is earned through tourism, the remaining 60% is made up for through Real Estate, Fines and other miscellenous avenues. (in that order) ▪You can be fined for chewing gum on the metro. ▪Everyone (i've met) is kind. ▪96% of local shops will offer you water, tea, coffee before you leave. And that's whether or not you make a purchase. ▪You can get a residence permit within a short period but attaining citizenship is almost impossible. 8 Likes |

For marriage it works and yes you still have to do your documentation by going outside of UAE while your Spouse files for you. Same applies for Babies, if you have in UAE, you will exit the country with the baby and due proper documentation and then bring the baby back with the processed papers. ariketalks: |
