Now to the topic, a great number of poor people have so many kids because sex is the opium of the poor. Keeps all humans equal. The poor man can brag about his prowess and his kids are the evidence.

Plus I think the many children are like a substitute for the luxuries that the poor can not afford. They have bragging rights. Ive heard some women lament or mock my aunt for having 4 kids. She almost died giving birth to the fourth one. But she wanted to show her fertility to the poor friends she’d let into her life. Their conversation was always how she could not give birth anymore. Poor her.

Lol. God issue aside. Anyway, nothing justifies the act of giving birth to children that one can't take care of as long as there is always the choice of closing one's legs or zipping up one's trousers. The idea of children as luxury is an absurd rationalisation of this act.

Look at refugee camps! All across the world where there's war humans are engaged in sex and conceiving! Funny that they can see that there's no guarantee of anything yet....!!!!

To the topic, it's all about the level of enlightenment really. You can't be very well learned, given your level of income and go ahead to give birth to children you can't comfortably take care of.

Thats the only activity that gives them joy na. See baby benaih's dad. He has 4 kids plus sick benaih who is 1 year 4 months. But they had another child on the 1st of january. Last last we go dey ok

I have heard all the points given to explain why people do this. On a closer look, I would say that nothing justifies giving birth to children that you can't take care of as long as there are the choices to hold yourself and not fvck. Reality and rationality must always be above feelings.

Funny how the rich that can comfortably take care of a number of kids don't give birth the way these people do. The way they give birth, one would think giving birth is like going to poop and the baby is out. I still saw one last week on my way to work. She was carrying one at her back, and running after a keke with the other three(not more than 6/7years for the oldest). This kind of person will pay for one seat, and inconvenience the next passenger who'd have no choice than to lap one
They bring kids they can't cater for into the world to suffer, and at a tender age, these kids start looking for means to survive when their mates are in the classroom. Good food, a conducive environment for living, education, all ZERO

There used to be a family living in the next house after mine, the family was made up of father, mother, eight children and one grand child whom the first daughter gave birth to out of wedlock. It's a free world and whoever wants to bleep and give birth to a whole country is thier business not yours I've seen poor family with only one yet couldn't meet up, some years back a widow lost her only child 29 years old boy who died of kidney disease. I've seen family of 10 and they are all blessings to thier poor parents who raised them. Never judge .

The average educated person shouldn't reason like this at all

It's very terrible. It eventually culminates in the poverty trap.

Those are exceptions not norms. Ask yourself why countries with high fertility rates tend to be the poorest?

@Topic: It's extremely ridiculous and nonsensical to give birth to children you cannot take care of. I've seen cases of people procreating lots of children recklessly without thinking of the future. Generally, things are becoming difficult globally yet some miscreants believe that by procreating lots of children, these kids stand a chance anywhere. I can only pity these children as they are not responsible for their procreation.

Almost three years' ago, I created a thread on the topic only to be lampooned. But hey, I am good at presaging the future.

God will provide for everyone of them more than opening a thread to devalue them will but for his mercy it could have been you or me in that position now how would you feel. If you can’t take action don’t complain. You and I know lack of education is the reason.

Surely God wouldn’t be pleased with some of the madness going on in Nigeria? Sometimes I think Nigerians are just primed for stress. It’s already in our DNA. If you are not ready to take care of a child, please just don’t.

God provides, true! but don’t be myopic is it everybody that knows and understands what depending on God for sustenance entails. Do you know the number of children that die from hunger and disease everyday. These parents will be held accountable on judgement day, just like China’s one child policy we should start the accountability from here.

Birth Control is the issue isn’t it

Poverty is an issue that’s why 10,000 is not the ideal solution a wide scale educational and family planning project is needed America is how it is because of organizations like planned parenthood though they are controversial how many do you have in those regions

It is a societal issue, it is the OP’s business you would know if you are an Economist (crime rate etc). This act needs to be frowned upon and shamed if thats what it takes to stop its practice.

Sister please find a good bible believing church, the bible teaches the Faith of God but also people miss the fact it also teaches wisdom and common sense. Make a reading plan so you can read the entire bible and don’t miss sunday school and bible study.

This illusion of yours is really dangerous. What are the sound evidences that suggest God exist?

I'm amused when I read comments saying it's not your business if someone else decides to give birth to way more than they can provide for. Typical Nigerian 'mind-your-business' that has brought nothing but rot to the system.

You see your fellow man ruining the society, you mind your business. You see your neighbour in trouble and needing help, you mind your business. Still you want Nigeria to become developed like other countries where they don't mind their business over stuff that can potentially ruin the society.

You guys think man is an island? We are all connected in some way, and our bad decisions can bring bad consequences to others.

It's never your business until their children grow up and rob you or kidnap your children for ransom or for rituals.
