Verrati vs Pogba, they are very different type of players.

Pogba is a box-to-box with a lot of added values: He has a mean shot and excellent short and long passing, excellent technical skills, he is good in the air, good at dribbling and has good vision. His defending skills are not exceptional but his physicality helps him a lot in that register.

Verratti is a regista , a deep lying playmaker, with fantastic technical skills and surprisingly superb defensive skills despite his small size. He may be one of the best dribblers in the game today. His passing is simply fantastic.

It's difficult to say "who's better". They would both fit perfectly in the same midfield, which probably won't happen.

Of course yea, i love playmakers but it's not just that, my problem with Pogba is his movement and tendency to dwell on the ball. If I had my way, I would have him playing on the wing like juventus did with him many times. His playing style suits the wing than the middle. I mean a wide midfielder/touchline winger.

The point is even if we were to get a playmaking no 6, we would need the midfielders in front of him to open up space for him through their movement, else it wouldn't work, especially if the said playmaker was being man marked. And if we were to go with a totally defensive no 6 like Casemiro, we would need 2 midfielders with quality movement to play off each other like Kroos and Modric or Xavi and Iniesta.
