Hello guys
I just got a refusal on financial ground, I was told I needed to show about N24750000, as compared to 15million which i showed. I’m wondering if it’s an error on their side as my course is for 3 years, I’m meant to understand that we can only show funds for a year since the visa grant is only for a year. I need help on this, as I intend to reapply.
Thanks

One thing I know that delays PhD application is when the candidate does not have a supervisor willing to take him/her.

It is quite the contrary, I have two supervisors very much interested in my research and they wrote to me that they have both indicated interest as the application came to the department. I dont understand why it is taking this much time.

Well Nz is such a beautiful and nice place...(Kiwis are one of the most friendly in d world)....with just about 4 million people making the whole country and about 8million sheep..........so funny........their immigration law is simple, strict and straight..........and it's much easier to get their PR compare to Aussie.........checkout their long term and short term visa or if u have anyone there, u can lookup the partnership visa on..............www.immigration.gov.nz.
If u really wanna go to Nz, we can hookup as i might also be moving to Auckland or christchurch maybe early next year.......pls Nigerians in NZ we need u here.....

Hi Kolombo88
Have you reapplied? If yes, what response have you gotten from INZ?

This thread is too dry, I wish someone can educate us here on life as student in NZ. How to cope with tuition and bills payment. Will earning from the work be enough for subsequent tuition payment and bills...
Re: General New Zealand Student Enquires by latolak(m): 8:21pm On Jan 17, 2019
It’s best to contact the naija kiwi association. From experience, when people succeed in getting their visas (any type) they’re not so committed to putting stuff up on here. They just move on.
You can also check the enz forums but the advise on there will be generic.

New Zealand student visa enquiries
Hi All
Can someone please help with this: I applied for Student Visa with Immigration New Zealand Online. But after 2 weeks I discovered that all my uploaded documents except the photograph (face image) disappeared. Does this mean my application has been processed. Otherwise what does this mean?
Thank you.

Thanks for asking. It was eventually approved, and I've been in NZ since April. The scholarship letter was sufficient for the financial requirement, but I later uploaded a bank statement as proof of onward travel (not upon request). It is also advisable that you provide evidence of family/economic ties with Nigeria. Good luck![/quote]

Hello bro. Please what are the documents you provided to show evidence of family / economic ties in Nigeria? I got a PhD offer at the University of Auckland. I graduated from a University in South Korea and currently live here under a post study visa. I don't have a permanent job. I don't know if i should apply for the study visa from South Korea or to travel to Nigeria and apply from there.

Hello sir,
I am a final year student of Industrial Chemistry and I will like to further my masters at NZ.
I want to ask what are my prospect in terms of employment to sponsor myself as an Industrial chemist and can I get a scholarship because I really don't have anyone who can help me ( I am going to grade with a strong 2.1)
If I can get a scholarship, how can I go about getting it or even seeing it.
Thanks for your time.

cconcept:

The major thing PhD will give you based on current INZ provisions when it comes to PR is higher points-points for qualification and points for studying in the country.

Check INZ website -SMC,LTSSL,ISSL,CSSL to see what occupations fit into your present experience and qualification, then make some projections(this is not cast in stone,it might change anytime)

Though sciences generally stand a better chance of getting PR,the most important thing is still to get a job offer..think of spending 3yrs on PhD and be able/not being able to get an offer..though if you are good in your skill, you stand a chance

PhD in New Zealand is a minimum of 24months and maximum of 4yrs.Immigration rules might change before you finish and there is the chance that the new rules might be or not be in your favour.

A major component of securing PhD in NZ is getting the consent of a would be supervsior. If you are able to do that, most likely you will get admitted. Check the varuous university department requirements to see if you stand a chancee with your grades.

A good proposal will give you an edge

If you can afford to pay the domestic tuition rate and show $15,000 every year for your living expenses, all good

How do you want to cope with 3 kids here?

I cant offer you much more on specifics but THINK ABOUT THESE POINTS IN MAKING YOUR DECISION

Not really. People have contacted supervisors and gained admission (both self funded and school funding).
Easiest way to get PhD admission and stress-free student visa to New Zealand is by New Zealand Development Scholarship.

Final outcome for those who reached the last stage is sometime September to November.
The chances are high, but the determinants are how good your application is, your performance in the assessments and focus areas for your country.
