Please i need your candid advice, i have been able to raise 800k and for now am left with two choices, am a graduate and the only son of my mom so i need a better life.

Pls i have an agent who will do for me a work visa for a security job in Dubai, salary 220k, i will pay a total of 800k for the visa and flight.

Please is it adviseable i travel or i use the money and rent a house here in nigeria. I have searched for job for over 3 years here in lagos all to no avail.

Please how is life in Dubai? What are your suggestions, should i go or stay.

Pls mods help me move to front page

This is too good to be true. It's very difficult to find a 220k security job in Dubai. The agent could be using this as a smokescreen to pull the wool over your eyes.

Did the agent tell you that you will have to share an accommodation, at least with four other employees? If you are thinking of renting an accommodation in Dubai with your monthly incomes be rest assured you are hitting a dead-end. House renting in Dubai costs an arm and a leg.

Moreover, 800k for a working visa sounds like scam alert for me because that sum is normally used to process a three-monthstourist visa.

You can send me a PM let's discuss this further.

There is life in Nigeria. In overseas you live like a fugitive, you hear siren, you scamper. You can never legalized your papers to enjoy the same rights as citizens.

With N800,000, I will generate a fortune in no time in Nigeria. Laziness and desperation makes us think of overseas as countries with streets paved with golds.
talk is cheap. Naira is useless
I said the same thing before my brother gave me 800k for business,After I invested in the business and later paid rent, feeding and pretty expenses gone with the money and I never even marry o,i wondered how did I spent the money.

800k is big to your ear until you handle it then you know naira is undervalue.

Hello bro, are you based in Kenya?

If you are, I'd like to know about the corporate atmosphere there. Especially in tech. I hear its now buzzing for tech, which means lot of opportunities for techies.

Their tech scene is bubbling, lots of things coming up on a regular basis. So many Fintechs popping up and Mpesa driving them.

Boss, one thing i want you to know is that if you go to the USA with an immigrant visa, you will be given the same rights as real citizen

Those ones that you are talking about are the illegal immigrants.

To each his own sha. Nigeria is not my home.

Immigration visa is not that easy to get, especially with President Trump's immigration policies. Even when you succeeded in obtaining it, it only allows you sojourn for a specific period of time, and your rights are extremely limited. Immigrant visa does not translate to green card.

Personally, there is nothing magical about overseas. You will work your a$$ out with limited moment of reprieve just to end up sinking more than half of the income on bills and taxes. Becoming hostile to relatives and relations due to too much pressure on servicing bills, bills, bill and taxes.

In Nigeria, if you earn a reasonable income as employee or self-employed or both combined, you will live like a king/queen. You don't suffer unnecessary racism and headache of hiding from authority especially if your papers have 'k leg'.

Each to his own, but am not that desperate. Nigeria is home.

It's so easy to get to Dubai but can't you cope ?
Have u ever experience racial discrimination ?
Can you sleep in a room with minimum of 4 people wit difference race filled with imported bed bug from Nepal , India and phillipine ? Thinktwice my brother ! if u can manage to save 800k in nig ? It'll be better to work harder and save more , don't go today so and enslave urself
It's a modern slavery .

If you are sure the agent is real, worse life in dubai is far better than an average life in Nigeria.
But i doubt fully if that agent is real..getting a work visa with 2 years resident will cost you more than 800k unless it is direct hire from the company..also it is very unlikely as most company wont prefer nigerians to other nationalites..

My advice is,do your homework about the agent and if you are convinced jet out even if its a cleaner job...But i see too many commas about the agent...many dubai agents re scam..Becareful!!!

What garbage are you talking? Even in Naija, do all Nigerians have equal rights? When in a place like NEMA HQ in Abuja, Hausa is the lingua franca there. Most oil blocs in Niger Delta are owned by Northerners. How many Niger Delta indigenes own oil blocs for a product that comes from their soil?

Is that a situation of equality?

I use God to beg you...do not go to Dubai thinking about any security job....there is no job of 220 k in Dubai..if you manage to see self no reach hindered k...

If you are bent on going?find someone that will so three months visa for you. Be ready to share accomodation for three months but my guy you will walk like you wall 2 years in Nigeria under that three month if you are to have any change of job and that chance of job you will still be staying with 5-6 people in a room collecting that salary of 90k...

Think twice ooo..again no agent PR else you will suffer and be stranded and regret ever going.

A word is good for the wise.

You are wandering too far. You are bringing 'Hausa is our problem' sentiment here.

I just told you, I prefer staying in Nigeria (my country) living like a king than wander in overseas like a child with no sense of home. Is that too much personal preference for you to understand?

Don't travel out.

Swallow your pride and get a good car and start your own transportation business. in a year you're likely to make over N2m if you hustle real hard.

You have peace of mind, you work when you're most strong and rest when you need to, Dubai obviously is a good prospect but that agent might be a scammer and you lose everything, and you'd be trafficked/enslaved upon arrival in Dubai.

Think and create the right vision for your life and you won't regret anything.

@op, let me tell you from first hand experience/info.

Currently, jobs are a bit scarce. The ones easily available are low paying jobs between 100k to 150k naira. If you have real Security job experience, you might be lucky to get a pay around 200k naira.
Security jobs might not be that hard but it could be sometimes.
Agent
From distance, the agent is not 100% plain. By that, i mean he has charged extra money. Perhaps his own agency fee is inclusive if truly he will get you the promised job.
Reason is, for 3 months visa, which is the max visa period you can be given, will cost normally around 200k and your flight also around 200k (both figures are a bit above the real cost) and i stand to be challenged by any agent.
All other money needed by you will be for feeding and transportation plus recharge card. Normal bed space is around 60 to 70k naira.
So, be wary about the agent except the person is already working in the company and wants to make extra money from you because there is an opening in their company.
Anything apart from these, is a BIG SCAM.
Truly and fairly, you will live with 6 to 8 people in a room if not more in some cases. But this does not mean, its a hell. You will still live your normal life. And it gets better or lesser number of people as you earn better.
Once again, Dubai is not bed of roses but the little you can earn and save, you either move to other countries or come home to do something for yourself.

On the flipside, if you are inclined to entrepreneurship, i think you can start a small business with what is left after renting a house like you said. Though i would suggest you hang around a bit more where you are now to have more money and less pressure to make big profit from the business. Business doesn't become big overnight even if you got it right from onset. Its takes time. The question is do you have the patience. If no, find reliable and truthful people here in Dubai to help you out or give a soft landing.
If you are lucky to get something a bit meaningful started here as a job, you can be ok within few years.

Just REMEMBER that, Dubai is a place you come to WORK, EARN, SAVE and RETURN back to your country to do something that pleases you.
DON'T BE CARRIED AWAY BY THE BLISS AND BLING BLINGS.

Wishing you the best.

THERE IS NOTHING LIKE SECURED JOB, IT IS A SLAVE WORK. IF THE JOB WAS OK, THE AGENT WOULD HAVE GONE BEFORE YOU. ARABS ARE THE MOST VIVOUS HUMAN BEING ON EARTH, BLACKS ARE LIKE DOGS IN THEIR SIGHT. THE EVIL AGENTS HAS MISLEAD MANY, DON'T BE A VICTIM. USE THAT MONEY TO START UP SOMETHING HERE. DUBAI IS OK, IF DIRECTLY EMPLOYMED BY AN OIL COMPANY. PLS DON'T BE A VICTIM. BE WISE

Check out the Dubai thread here, get the answers you need from there, be very wary of agents. I will have you know that Dubai might not be very good for “living” that is, settling
However you may have the mindset of working and saving hard there for a couple of years. Then afterwards you may decide where you want to settle in. You might even find yourself back in Nigeria/W.Africa and okay with it! cheesy shocked cool

Bro pls disregard that agent asap, i have lived in UAE for 6yrs therefore i can tell you authoritatively that 99.9% of security companies in Dubai does not employ security guards from outside the country anymore because of lots of accessments, but if you are tired of Nigeria pls look for another country not UAE because their economy is grumbling and Nigerians have been reputed badly over here. In the other hand stay in Nigeria invest your little savings there and allow it grow over the years.
