theoldpretender:

I think he should get another 5 years.

Chief Joseph Sanusi , Soludo predecessor got two terms.

He has done very well, and we need him for his fiscal sense.

Anyway, the new person better keep saving money. I don't care what else they do, so long as they save!

The economic backbone of this government is Emefiele. Only with such a submissive character could he impose a pegged exchange rate for the Naira upon assumption of office.

Only with him at the saddle, could 41 items be restricted from the forex market.

Only with him at the saddle could there be multiple exchange rates.

Only with him at the saddle could the CBN be lending to the FG.

Remove him and replace him with a more assertive and competent person who would assert the semi autonomous independence the CBN has and Buhari's government may collapse.

The lending to the FG will end and also the multiple exchange rates.

Dee60:

So, should Emefiele serve another 5 years in CBN?

Has any CBN Governor of modern times been given 10 years in that office?

Who has said that he was sacked?

The man himself knew his term was expiring and would rarely in these times have another 5 years!

Some comments sha!

My dear sir read the post very well. The man was appointed on June 3, 2014 for the usual 5 yr tenure. Last time I checked we're just starting March, about 4 months to the expected expiration of his tenure. Moreover, if he's being sent on terminal leave, it should be at least a month to end of his tenure. All the same, I'm not surprised. Another Fulani from North West for governor. And some idiotic persons would stupidly say One Nigeria.

Time to put a northerner as the CBN governor the bastcard never fails to deliver... What he's done is exposed how incompetent certain are and why they can't run a country. All the incompetent bastards he's appointed all hide behind the false corruption fight.

He's giving Nigerians a stronger argument why the country can't be one, because all the northerner appointment only shows a total failure and incompetence .. Next target to be removed are minister for national planing, foreign affairs and if possible FIRS head and very very possible VP OSINBAJO...

They go bring one corruption case or the other, niaja I hail ooo

Nothing is wrong with it. The 2 regions that have never been appointed as tenored CBN Governor are North East and North Central.

Whats all the hullabaloo? Are we not already at next level or just getting there? This is exactly what we deserve. I wish the south can just go on their way. We all know his 5 years of leadership at CBN isn't over yet.

We must be delusional if we think this was not well-planned by the Cabals. I am seeing this set of people more devilish than what we can imagine. They are doing everything to hold firm to powers for many several years to come.

Igbo people remain in the most tribalistic, greedy, integrates, and very unfortunate tribe on earth. When ALL was sacked and replaced with their son, nobody asked gej to put a northerner in replacement. Now, they want another igbo to replace him.
What's your population and landmass of your states?
Shame on you guys. The hatred your parents inculcate in you will ruin you all.

REVEALED: How CBN emptied its vaults like Abacha’s days to finance Jonathan’s campaign

The Central bank has been accused of emptying its vaults to finance 2015 general election According to reports, Mr Emefiele, who is also chairman of the board, told them that the money will be used for the military fight against Boko Haram.

He was said to have been cautioned but he rejected the advice. According to reports, this happened shortly after he had secured approval from President Goodluck Jonathan to disburse the funds. However, questions have been raised on how CBN created the security fund overnight to meet NSA’s requests. “What the CBN did was to create an intervention fund, which it is empowered to do by the CBN Act.

That is why we have aviation intervention fund, agriculture intervention fund, all sorts, which are now being abused to take money out of the system,” one of the sources said. A former minister told TheCable that it is illegal for the CBN to pay raw dollars to any government agency. READ ALSO: Anxiety mounts in Aso Rock over Buhari's health He said: “If the money was given to the NSA in naira, this would be a case of the CBN printing money for the government and adding to pressure on prices and exchange rates. I was told a lot of this happened in many instances and did a lot of damage to the economy

If, on the other hand, as it is being alleged in this case, the NSA was given this money in cash forex, then a strong case can be made for criminal activity by the CBN itself. In giving so much cash, the CBN is itself involved in money laundering. And by taking it from the central bank vaults, the management of the central bank has effectively taken foreign exchange from CBN reserves and given same to the NSA with no questions asked.” How it happened, according to CBN insiders, “was that the money was taken directly from CBN vaults without any account being credited. It effectively did not go through the due process. The accountant-general did not sign off as it is the practice.

“Money was just moved directly like it happened under Gen. Sani Abacha when large amounts were taken out of the CBN under the guise of financing ECOMOG, the West African peace-keeping force. We know where the bulk ended up.” The source also gave an instance of money taken out of the CBN. According to the source, in February 2015 shortly after the postponement of the presidential elections, the CBN took almost $300 million on the instructions of the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS) and passed it to the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

NAPIMS is a corporate services unit in the exploration and production directorate of the NNPC charged with managing government’s investment in the upstream sector of the oil and gas industry. NIA is Nigeria’s equivalent of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), which deals with foreign intelligence. Legit.ng also reported that former President, Goodluck Jonathan has again been indicted in the on-going controversial ‘ghost fund’ retrieved, on Wednesday April 12 from an apartment in Ikoyi by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). A retired employee of the NIA, Ibrahim Ibrahim on Thursday April 20 said that the N15 billion seized by EFCC was part of the monies channelled by ex-president Goodluck Jonathan through the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) for his party’s 2015
