Does anyone know how to transfer money from a nigerian bank account to a UK bank account please? I looked at azimo and I don't think they do- a similar platform, anyone? Thanks

Short answer:
It’s extremely unlikely that that can be done.
It’s possible the other way round...£ to Naira

Please does anyone know if applying for a reduction in Council Tax (Due to having a low-income partner) equates as having recourse to public funds?

Some of my husbands colleagues keep telling him to apply but ees like they don’t know that all visa’s are not equal. I’m wondering because it’s not as though you will be given money...

Let me suggest that you get the AMEX Gold card instead https://www.americanexpress.com/uk/credit-cards/gold-credit-card/?linknav=uk-amex-cardshop-allcards-learn-GoldCreditCard
It's free for the first year and you get 20k amex points (this equals 20k avios & can be easily transferred to your avois account). You can easily cancel it after the first year, then get the BA card if you still want to.
To get the sign-up bonus, you need to spend £2k in 3 months. Also if an existing amex cardholder refers you, you get additional 2k points. PM me if you need a referral.

Hi.
Please it is possible to use AMEX to send money to a UK bank account?
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by nomad26: 11:35pm On Mar 14, 2019
No it's not possible. Although I've read about money transfer cards which you can use to transfer money from a credit to a debit card. FYI I've never used it but check out the link below for more details: https://www.uswitch.com/credit-cards/guides/how-to-transfer-money-from-a-credit-to-debit-card/

Quote 1 : If you're subject to immigration control
You won't normally be allowed to apply for CTR if you're subject to immigration control, although there are some exceptions to this rule.

Quote 2: You won't be allowed to claim Council Tax Reduction if you don't satisfy the habitual residence test.
Requirement: You must show that you have the 'right to reside' in the UK and also that you are habitually resident in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, or the Republic of Ireland. You should be treated as habitually resident if you're receiving income support, income-based JSA or income-related employment and support allowance.

All these mentioned above are all public funds so to even get CTR you have to be receiving these

The forex rate would not favour this transaction (govt rate)......

If you have online access to your account, why not barter.......

Someone's GBP for your Naira........ Best way 4ward.....

I think UK is one country where their immigration rules are clearly stated and most information online. Once you follow it then it a smooth ride to the end

Once you start bending then the path to the end is not so straight anymore and can lead to headache

Hi guys,

just moved homes and unlike my previous 2 houses. my gas bill here na die....so far £10 in 2 days, smart meter! the tariif says i will pay 18p for first 60 kwh and about 4p per kwh thereafter. although, the new house is a town house, most radators are off except for 1 bedroom and occasional hot water. previous house was £2/ day b4 that was about £10 in 2 weeks....any pointers....electricity is fair. is this a winter billing?

Depending on how big the property is and most importantly how long you live the heating on , and what thermostat you set it at but i would say £10 is on the high side for 2 days . My house has a lot of heaters (12 heaters) which are always on together even with that it doesnt really get to £5 a day , once i see like £4 self my eye will start shining and be off here and there. On day/nigth that it very cold then i dont even care about the bill , i just leave the heating on .

If your radiators are off except 1 then that bill is too much because the days i dont put on heating (maybe we are out the whole day) , it usually less than £2 so i know heating is a major factor . The room that the radiator is on you have to shut that door , or else the boiler is going to keep working to get it to the termostat temperatue . Turn on all the radiators and see if it makes no difference to the Bill . The only way to get the heating down will be to reduce the length on which the heating is on . Call the provider and complain so maybe they check one or two thingsv

Usually Once winter is gone and the radiators are off the gas bill gets less in the summer for gas central heating

That is a lot! This so called smart meter is one big con. For those of you who have not converted please don’t. There’s no law that says you should and there is a lot of controversy surrounding these meters, that’s why anytime I receive a call to change my meter, I ask them is it a government regulation and when they say no, I say thank you, good bye.

I suggest you take up your high gas cost with your provider.

The best option..... Even if you you have to break transaction, for your funds security.....

Because you would have to initially release funds, before you get credited..........

Hi guys, great job you are doing out here, My being in the UK for almost 2 months has been amazing, at first going through the thread when I was processing my papers , everything seemed strange but now I am getting to Understand living here.

I have always had to dream of seeing my football Idol(Lionel Messi Play) and I feel the Manchester Vs Barcelona Champions league tie at Old Trafford would present a great opportunity, but the ticket from black market is alarming £295 for the cheapest ticket, please is there any way to get cheaper legit tickets.

Just wanna share some info about ILR.

If you applied for Super Priority Service (with reply within 24 hours), but the UKVI sends you a response more than 24 Hours after doing your biometric appointment, you can email them and and request that they refund you the difference (~£600) between the SPV and regular ILR application.

2 people I know have gotten their refunds last month after doing their appointments last December and January.

Can be done via a swift transaction, meaning.. you have to go to the Nigerian bank and physically request a transfer overseas.

Check your 30-day visa vignette.
Check the back of your BRP.
The information you seek MUST be boldly written there.

You don't actually need to be physically present at the bank.
I moved money last month from my Nigerian acct.
Simply had to call the bank and request a swift code. My bank doesn't even have a branch in the UK
