The visa officer will like you to satisfy them that you're gainfully employed in your home country and that the prospects of getting a job when you lose your current one is considerably high. This satisfies the visa officer that you won’t leave your job when you travel to Canada. On the contrary, if you're a fresh graduate, being unemployed as at the time of your application won't affect your application. You can get a letter from an establishment stating that you're presently volunteering (non-paid) at the firm.

The applicant has to look for a school in Canada that fits his area of specialization this will determine his cost of studies in Canada. Also, bear in mind that the sponsor will also set aside 10,000$CAD for the applicant's first year living expenses.
Do you think not having a stable salary since 2017 after school will affect the study permit .Acceptance fee has been paid,He just want to apply for the study permit now and he's being careful about the document to submit and hope lack unemployment will not affect the proces

It won't have a negative impact on his application. Once he can show that he has been engaged with an activity (volunteering) non paid employee, ......He will be fine...... I know of so many applicants who has followed this approach and are currently studying in Canada. Consequentially, he should get a good letter from an established firm in his home country stating that he has been volunteering until this date. Ensure that his volunteer experience is in tadem with his proposed program in Canada. This will boost his chances of securing a TRV.

Hey,
My program falls under the school of management (similar to an MBA or a Masters in Analytics) and they don’t give “funding” to programs under this cartegory. It’s also not a thesis based program.
I however got a scholarship that covers part of my tuition.

Thank you.

Congrats to all those that just got their visas.

Majority of the Canadian DLI doesn't require you to submit an IELTS test report form prior to your acceptance into the institution. So you have nothing to worry about in view of the fact that you're coming from an English speaking country, Nigeria.

Approval Alert!!!

And that is how I finally get to share my own testimony. It's been the Lord's doing and no doubt, marvelously marvelous in my sight grin

Timeline

Applied December 12 2018 after being refused October 1 last year.
Medical Request: February 7
Medicals Done: February 20
Biometric Validity: March 22
Passport Request: Just Now
School: Centennial College, Toronto
Course: Biotechnology

Reason for first Refusal: Purpose of visit

So, who says college applicants don't get approval? Of course, I have always known that the notion is far from the truth. The difficulty or ease lies on "times and chances" just like with any other application.

Should any college applicant have a query or clarification, I shall be more than willing to supply answer.

Congratulations again on your approval sir,
I was refused based on purpose of visit too December last year. I’m trying to reply apply now, but I’m facing some difficulty. Pls I sent u a mail. Help me look into it. Thanks

Good day my people here.....
Please I have a question begging for answer and clarifications....
If a supervisor agree to be your supervisor for a thesis based msc and told you to "put in a formal application and saying he is looking forward to review your application" what is the chance of the person being admmited with or without funding or being deny admission... Having meeting the minimum admission requirement for Nigeria..e.g strong 2.1 degree.

Anybody for clarification please..

From my discussions with several successful applicants who has secured funding for themselves through potential supervisors in Canada. The bolded is a good sign that the supervisor is willingly and eager to accept you to work under his/her supervision. I'll suggest you go ahead with the application and hope for the best!

Even though your supervisor has agreed supervision in principle, the final decision to admit or not rests with the graduate recruitment committee. If your supervisor is a very influential personality in the school then he/she might most likely have an input in the decision making process. From my experience, secretaries of graduate schools can influence the decision making process as they are part of these graduate recruitment committees. Secretaries to graduate schools can give you and idea whether or not you've been accepted before a decision for admission is displayed on your portal. Since you have a strong 2.1 (this makes you eligible but is not the only scoring criteria as I have seen first class graduates denied admission) and you have a supervisor in principle, then I will advice you work on other criteria like work experience, publications, personal statement and you'll be fine.

What is DLI please

DLI = Designated learning institution. Every school in Canada is a DLI.

However, in our own case as foreigners, DLI simply means universities/colleges in Canada approved to accept international students.

It's an optional document. It's not compulsory that you must fill it.

If you're going for a post graduate studies, IELTS is not required for your admittance into a Canadian institution.
