I knew she was smart enough to be weighing the import of every word I was giving as answer, so I really had to be careful the way I answered her.

I could feel her heartbeat as she rested her head on my shoulder. So, what now? What was she thinking?

‘Have you eaten?’ I asked, trying to digress. ‘Maybe you should order for room service.’

‘I’m okay for now.’

We went back to sit on the sofa, sitting so closely.

‘I can’t believe I’m having these feelings,’ she said.

I raised my brow but did not say anything.

‘How did you do it?’ she asked.

I was at loss. ‘Did what?’

‘How did you make me have this strong feeling for you?’

Strong feeling? Well …

I shook my head. ‘I only acted naturally.’

She suddenly smiled. ‘Anyway, it’s okay. Just like I said, I was just being silly.’

I squeezed her hand but said nothing.

‘That your suggestion of not having sex is good. I think that thing is the one affecting my thinking.’

I could not suppress a short laughter.

‘Hey, it’s not funny,’ she said.

I stopped the laughter. ‘I’m sorry. It’s the way you said it. But you’re right. It’s good that the two of us are seeing it that we should stop having
sex for now.’

‘I think I need a massage.’ She smiled wanly. ‘And I’m talking about real massage.’

She had emphasized the word, ‘real massage.’ I smiled. ‘It’s no problem. You’ll get only massage.’

We went to the bedroom.

‘Unzip this for me,’ she said, turning her back. I pulled the zip down. Slowly, she undressed herself. From her bag, she brought the gel out. Now
only in bra and pantie she lay on her belly and handed the gel to me. I did the massaging to the best of my ability while she closed her eyes. I
did the job thoroughly and as efficiently as possible.

After several minutes, I could see that she was already sleeping. I stopped the massaging and stared at her. She looked so innocent in that
sleep. But, what was this thing she was talking about real love? She must be joking. It was either she was joking or she was pulling my legs.
She probably wanted to see my reactions.

I closed the cap of the tube and went to wash my hands. I then returned to the sitting-room. I stared at the television screen, but my mind was
not there. I was thinking about what B.M had said. If it was true that there was ‘love’ and we got married, that would mean I married a woman
that was twenty-three years my senior. Twenty-three years!

It would also mean I would abandon Naomi. No, no. I would not do that to her. Naomi did not deserve such extreme selfish and cruel act. I
concluded that B.M was just pulling my legs. About an hour later, she woke up and came to join me in the sitting-room. She was now wearing a
satin sleep wear.

‘Oh, you’ve woken up,’ I said.

‘Yes.’ She came to sit by my side. ‘I think it’s time to order for food now.’

I nodded in agreement. We ordered for intercontinental dishes. The meal was sumptuous and we very much enjoyed it. After that, we took red
wine.

‘Our society favors the men much more than the women,’ she said.

I took sips from my glass cup. ‘Why did you say that?’

‘If a man marries a lady much younger than him, all is well, but if a woman tries that with a much younger man, then it becomes a taboo.’

I grinned and nodded. ‘That’s the way the society is wired.’

‘Especially in this our country,’ she added.

I nodded again.

She put her left hand on my lap. ‘I think it’s high time I divorced my husband.’

My heart started beating fast again. ‘Why do you want to do that?’

‘He has been living an irresponsible life. He totally abandoned his home and settles for a young lady. He is an unrepentant flirt.’

I could only sigh as I didn’t know what to say.

‘It’s high time we completely went our different ways.’

I sighed again.

Her hand rubbed on my lap. ‘Have you ever been disappointed in love before?’ she asked me.

‘Sure. We all have one heart ache at one time or the other.’

‘That one will not be as serious as when you’re married and your spouse turns love to hatred.’

I nodded. She was most likely right.

Her phone was ringing from the bedroom.

I stood up. ‘Let me get that for you.’

I went to the room to fetch the cell phone. She answered it while I stared at the television.

Seconds later, she dropped the phone on a stool.

‘Tell me about your growing up years,’ she said.

I smiled. ‘Will that really be interesting?’

‘Tell me. I will decide whether it is interesting or not.’

So, I told her. I talked about the ups and downs experienced in the family and how we were able to conquer adversities. She seemed to be
interested in my tales.

‘What about your love life? Who was your first love?’

I laughed shortly. ‘I was a very shy type,’ I said, ‘and I didn’t have a girlfriend until I was seventeen. Actually, girls were always in my
company, but I couldn’t just bring myself to professing love. Even the first real girlfriend I had, she had to do a lot of prodding before I could
summon the courage.’

She talked about her love life too. Her husband had met her a virgin and was very loving and caring in the first decade of marriage. But
something happened along the line and he became the opposite of caring.

I listened to her intently and realized she needed someone to pour her heart to. Her marital story had the classical theme of ‘the rich also cry.’
Her remaining two children, two female aged twenty-two and twenty respectively were in U.S.A, studying. She said if not for the fact that she

had a thriving business, she would have long ago relocated to the U.S.A.

‘That would have meant I would never have met you,’ I said.

‘And that would have been quite unfortunate.’

Later, we retired to the bedroom.

‘Do you know what?’ she asked, as we lay on the bed.

‘What?’

‘I feel so relieved pouring my heart to you.’

I smiled. ‘It’s a pleasure listening to you,’ I answered.

She snuggled up to me and I wrapped her shoulders with my arm.

‘I wish we can continuously have each other like this,’ she said.

My heart started thumping again.

Thanks for your interests. 1. There is a mystery about who really helped Ola. 2. BM's husband did, despite his denial.
