FrankAkowe:

An idea suddenly came to my mind. ‘Alright,’ I said. ‘I’m going to prove you wrong. This one we’re here for the next five days or so, I’m not
going to collect any money from you, and there’ll be no sex.’

She closed her eyes while I held her by the waist from the back.

‘Can you really do that?’ she wanted to know.

‘That’s exactly what I’ll do. I won’t go beyond caressing and I won’t collect a dime.’

She put her hands on my hands. ‘Maybe I’m just acting silly,’ she said.

Exactly, my mind said. You’re simply acting silly! Or dramatic!

‘It’s alright,’ I spoke out.

She turned to face me and wrapped her hands round my neck. I kissed her forehead and caressed her back.

‘Am I silly?’ she asked.

Really? His lost? what happened to working hard to save lots of money without cheating on her. The least he could do is show appreciation
Life and its complication. In as much as I uphold Fidelity, honesty and transparency, I'd say that it's not as easy as u v pointed out .
One of my distant aunt got married. Her husband is like a father to me and he's also a pastor . I got to find out that he cheated on my aunt 2-3times--temptation. He is kind, generous n once faithful to d core. If my aunt got to know , could break their marriage , church finds out direct n immediate discipline , if not quickly curb and cushion , the act might become public disgrace to everyone .
The big question is how do I carry out control measure to save the situation ?
Confronting him myself appears impossible.
To the story , BM might change the story n ola could lose his adorable treasured wife .
However , I go with honesty whatever the case might be .

I knew she was smart enough to be weighing the import of every word I was giving as answer, so I really had to be careful the way I answered her.

I could feel her heartbeat as she rested her head on my shoulder. So, what now? What was she thinking?

‘Have you eaten?’ I asked, trying to digress. ‘Maybe you should order for room service.’

‘I’m okay for now.’

We went back to sit on the sofa, sitting so closely.

‘I can’t believe I’m having these feelings,’ she said.

I raised my brow but did not say anything.

‘How did you do it?’ she asked.

I was at loss. ‘Did what?’

‘How did you make me have this strong feeling for you?’

Strong feeling? Well …

I shook my head. ‘I only acted naturally.’

She suddenly smiled. ‘Anyway, it’s okay. Just like I said, I was just being silly.’

I squeezed her hand but said nothing.

‘That your suggestion of not having sex is good. I think that thing is the one affecting my thinking.’

I could not suppress a short laughter.

‘Hey, it’s not funny,’ she said.

I stopped the laughter. ‘I’m sorry. It’s the way you said it. But you’re right. It’s good that the two of us are seeing it that we should stop having
sex for now.’

‘I think I need a massage.’ She smiled wanly. ‘And I’m talking about real massage.’

She had emphasized the word, ‘real massage.’ I smiled. ‘It’s no problem. You’ll get only massage.’

We went to the bedroom.

‘Unzip this for me,’ she said, turning her back. I pulled the zip down. Slowly, she undressed herself. From her bag, she brought the gel out. Now
only in bra and pantie she lay on her belly and handed the gel to me. I did the massaging to the best of my ability while she closed her eyes. I
did the job thoroughly and as efficiently as possible.

After several minutes, I could see that she was already sleeping. I stopped the massaging and stared at her. She looked so innocent in that
sleep. But, what was this thing she was talking about real love? She must be joking. It was either she was joking or she was pulling my legs.
She probably wanted to see my reactions.

I closed the cap of the tube and went to wash my hands. I then returned to the sitting-room. I stared at the television screen, but my mind was
not there. I was thinking about what B.M had said. If it was true that there was ‘love’ and we got married, that would mean I married a woman
that was twenty-three years my senior. Twenty-three years!

It would also mean I would abandon Naomi. No, no. I would not do that to her. Naomi did not deserve such extreme selfish and cruel act. I
concluded that B.M was just pulling my legs. About an hour later, she woke up and came to join me in the sitting-room. She was now wearing a
satin sleep wear.

‘Oh, you’ve woken up,’ I said.

‘Yes.’ She came to sit by my side. ‘I think it’s time to order for food now.’

I nodded in agreement. We ordered for intercontinental dishes. The meal was sumptuous and we very much enjoyed it. After that, we took red
wine.

‘Our society favors the men much more than the women,’ she said.

I took sips from my glass cup. ‘Why did you say that?’

‘If a man marries a lady much younger than him, all is well, but if a woman tries that with a much younger man, then it becomes a taboo.’

I grinned and nodded. ‘That’s the way the society is wired.’

‘Especially in this our country,’ she added.

I nodded again.

She put her left hand on my lap. ‘I think it’s high time I divorced my husband.’

My heart started beating fast again. ‘Why do you want to do that?’

‘He has been living an irresponsible life. He totally abandoned his home and settles for a young lady. He is an unrepentant flirt.’

I could only sigh as I didn’t know what to say.

‘It’s high time we completely went our different ways.’

I sighed again.

Her hand rubbed on my lap. ‘Have you ever been disappointed in love before?’ she asked me.

‘Sure. We all have one heart ache at one time or the other.’

‘That one will not be as serious as when you’re married and your spouse turns love to hatred.’

I nodded. She was most likely right.

Her phone was ringing from the bedroom.

I stood up. ‘Let me get that for you.’

I went to the room to fetch the cell phone. She answered it while I stared at the television.

Seconds later, she dropped the phone on a stool.

‘Tell me about your growing up years,’ she said.

I smiled. ‘Will that really be interesting?’

‘Tell me. I will decide whether it is interesting or not.’

So, I told her. I talked about the ups and downs experienced in the family and how we were able to conquer adversities. She seemed to be
interested in my tales.

‘What about your love life? Who was your first love?’

I laughed shortly. ‘I was a very shy type,’ I said, ‘and I didn’t have a girlfriend until I was seventeen. Actually, girls were always in my
company, but I couldn’t just bring myself to professing love. Even the first real girlfriend I had, she had to do a lot of prodding before I could
summon the courage.’

She talked about her love life too. Her husband had met her a virgin and was very loving and caring in the first decade of marriage. But
something happened along the line and he became the opposite of caring.

I listened to her intently and realized she needed someone to pour her heart to. Her marital story had the classical theme of ‘the rich also cry.’
Her remaining two children, two female aged twenty-two and twenty respectively were in U.S.A, studying. She said if not for the fact that she

had a thriving business, she would have long ago relocated to the U.S.A.

‘That would have meant I would never have met you,’ I said.

‘And that would have been quite unfortunate.’

Later, we retired to the bedroom.

‘Do you know what?’ she asked, as we lay on the bed.

‘What?’

‘I feel so relieved pouring my heart to you.’

I smiled. ‘It’s a pleasure listening to you,’ I answered.

She snuggled up to me and I wrapped her shoulders with my arm.

‘I wish we can continuously have each other like this,’ she said.

My heart started thumping again.

She snuggled up to me and I wrapped her shoulders with my arm.

‘I wish we can continuously have each other like this,’ she said.

My heart started thumping again.

‘Am I selfish?’ she asked.

‘Er.. no. Why did you ask?’

‘Because I said I’ll like to have you to myself only.’

I thought briefly. ‘Well, it’s normal for people to desire the best for themselves.’

‘Yes, but not to the detriments of others.’

‘I guess you’re right.’

She soon slept in my arms. Ola, be careful, I told myself. This woman was playing mind games with you, don’t fall for her. The following morning, we were indoors throughout. I had a feeling that indeed, B.M was trying to keep me to herself. It was a dangerous dimension and I must be wary. The relationship was initiated on lust, why bring love into it? Besides, if she kept on this way, she would upset all my plans for Naomi.

I believed B.M was trying to win my heart. There was no intercourse between us but she tried in all other ways to please me. She ordered for sumptuous meals and would pop up wine thereafter. She appeared nice and was desirous of holding my hands. Above all, she held me lovingly and possessively. She did that for five days. I was doing nothing but eating, drinking and chatting with her. It was a psychological build-up.
We finally left the resort center Friday afternoon. When she gave me a bundle of five hundred naira notes, I politely declined to accept it.

‘You can take it,’ she urged. ‘You didn’t ask for it; I gave it to you. Come on.’

I finally took it. She drove in the front while I drove behind her, bumper-to-bumper. From Ota to Abule Egba, Iyana Ipaja, Old Agege Motor road to Oshodi, and then to Anthony. At Anthony, we parted ways. I joined the Ikorodu road and drove to my residence. I certainly looked fresh and refreshed, courtesy of Big Mummy.

On Saturday, I left my Isawo residence to meet Naomi at Surulere. Ella clung on to me as if she had not seen me in ages. Mother and daughter were indeed glad to see me. I had bought a bunch of plantain and some tubers of yams on the way. Those were the things I brought for them.

‘It doesn’t look like you went there to work,’ Naomi pointed out. ‘Rather, it looks like you went on a feast. See how you look fresh and robust.’

I smiled it off. How close to the truth she was.

Later that Saturday, we all went to the popular cinema at the Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island. On our way back to Surulere, I bought of a lot roasted meats called ‘suya’ and a bottle of nonalcoholic wine to go with it. We certainly looked like one big, happy family.

I resumed work on Monday morning at the Lekki office. Tinu, madam’s secretary asked how the trip was and hoped it was not tedious.

I smiled at her. ‘No, it was not tedious,’ I answered. But there was something about Tinu’s tone I could not discern.

Madam and I went on with our business as if nothing ever happened. By mid-day, I received a text message that instantly made me become alarmed.

Stop messing with another man’s wife or you will pay dearly for it.

I read it again and wondered who could have sent it.
