For the married folks, is it compulsory to submit a court issued marriage certificate Planning to apply for a study permit next month, but I do not have marriage certificate yet cos I only did traditional. If I don't submit a marriage certificate, will that have an adverse effect on my eligibility. Thanks
Court Affidavit of marriage and newspaper publication of change of name for your wife can do.

Oh I’m sorry. Didnt know. Ok but can I get my study permit first. Move my admission for next session then apply for hubby or do I need to be in Canada first?
DMerciful:
Firstly I'm a man. I did not include wifey and kids now so they serve as home ties. Will apply for them when I get there like after a month.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by DMerciful(m): 9:18pm On Mar 27, 2019
You need a letter from the school and some other documents like course enrolmen, student ID, rental agreement so you have to go first.

So my visa application is going on 9months.
Sometimes I feel unfortunate.
Do you think it’s better to withdraw the application and just re apply? cause it’s making no sense anymore. cry

The bolded above is the response you get from some VOs when they want to deny visa.

I love your response in a VOs thought, but then he/she may get the study visa.

@ezenwa28, okrerrr more findings about your study application and submit a very tight application.

Some pple got their Vispa with Advance diploma anyway.

Some Advanced Diploma are like Postgraduate Diploma. Like Memorial University's Advanced Diploma in Sustainable Aquaculture. It is a postgraduate diploma. You can verify it.

You are correct but what will be on the certificate issued? Advanced or postgraduate diploma?

I think applicants should also think long term about the kind of jobs available to them when they are done schooling in Canada. We are paying a lot, we need to be strategic with the programs we select. God help us all.

If you don't have a cooperative education (co-op) option attached to your admission, stating that your course requires you to work would be a lie, and there won't be any proof. So, I suggest you "un-state" that. You could use google to know more about co-op.

Cheers.

Hi sir. Please in my situation i have two kids one 15 months with an American passport and the other one two months a Canadian. Should I say I’m going with them or nah?
neverlosehope:
This thinking is incorrect.

I am presently in Canada studying with my family. We applied together and our visas were approved together. Also, I have many of my colleagues who applied together with their family and their visa were approved.

A family of mine started his program in UBC this January. He applied for his study visa along with his family at the same time and all the visas were approved. He came in for Masters degree and not PhD.

Thanks

I have a question.
Must canadian universities don't accept 2.2 , so the next option is to have a PGD right?. If my answer is yes, is advanced diploma not the same as PGD? .
I am asking for clarification. That was what i was told.thanks

Could have been; depending on the amount added in the company account and the one they had in their personal account.

I suggest you get an account with proper money in it, that is w/out the overdrafts if possible.

Good luck.

Just indicate in your form that they will be accompanying you to Canada. I think your kids don't need a visa to go with you to Canada.

Good morning my people...

LONG POST ALERT!!
I have gone through a lot of posts on this thread, and I think I have gained insight about the study permit application to a degree.
I have learnt that we are unique individuals from various backgrounds, experiences and financial circumstances. Comparably, we have stories in varying shades that our life experiences so far, are telling.
My overall advice for each one of us is to look inward , reflect and choose the best strategy that will work for you. #use your church mind.
There will always be different kinds of advice e.g. apply alone, write 5 page SOP, -no! Write only 2 pages, do not apply with your children. No! Apply with them (at least the VOs should know you are a nursing mother). Apply for your family when you get to Canda, No! You can do it immediately you get your TRV.

When people come here to tell you what they did, they don't tell you their background and circumstances, so you really cannot have a clear picture of why it should work for them

Some people are very well travelled. Some people are currently abroad, and applied from their with their families. The travel history they have gained might be the critical factor tipping the scale in their favour.
Another example is someone in seriously good financial standing might apply for a PGD with his family , and get the visa before a Master's student applying alone.

A single individual, funded and applying without hometies might get that visa if (s)he has a lot of distinguished work done in the home country with several medals and awards.

Some people e.g. myself, write extremely explanatory SOPs simply because we have waded through a lot to get to where we are now and these experiences and relevant career achievements are worth telling.

Most Visa officers are psychologists. They consider the whole picture. So please, after considering the plethora of advice, use your God given mind to analyse your unique situation before you apply.

May God give fruit to all our efforts.

TRV processing time update 28/03/2019

Hey Nairaland Family,

We now have a sample of 22 hopefuls!

Please I would encourage those that have applied this year to share their timeline (whether you're a new or re-applicant, Application Route, School Resumption Date, Application Date, Biometrics Request Date, Biometrics Done Date, Medical Request, Medicals Done, Medicals Passed, PPR or the Current Status of your application). If you don't have all this information, you can just share the ones that you have and update the rest as you receive it.

This information would help us study or attempt to establish a pattern to how CIC operates. (Please note that the calculated estimates are just averages based on the little sample we have. Your processing time may be faster or slower than the average)

For those that have already submitted their timeline, kindly share if you are a new applicant or a re-applicant. Also, please share when you are expected to resume school. This would help us understand if there is a relationship between processing time and resumption date. (Cc Dedecoder, Godatwork23, Oni2019, Damlovey, Yacha77, docsaj, TheAfrikan, 2roodi, Oluwaseunbd, Bodineros, Klem28, AA07, Trishaben, Omarzx, ify85, Samolala2019, umulobi, Mykaelolalekan, Oyalfares)

Finally, If there is anything you think i should add to the data or calculate from the data or present the data so that it is more understandable, please share with me.
