Please when did u apply for ur Visa? If your application isnt over 8 months, u dont have any right to say this. I fully support Bracha, Its assif you dont even know how it feels to wait for over 8 months without any communication from those nitwits... If they communicate with us occasionally now, that is different.. They just kept mute for over 8 months without saying a word.. What Bracha wrote is even small, If i have the opportunity of knowing their office, believe you me I will go there and cause a scene, cos what they are doing is blatant rubbish..Application that is suppose to be given a decision within 2 months is taking forever.. God pass them..
Please read what I typed. I am not asking people not to complain I am referring to the choice of words used. You can let them understand how you feel but how you communicate it matters. Let's take a look at the available statistics of the applications rejected last year or the amount of Nigerians that applied for asylum just last year alone. In the last 5 years we've been tarnishing our images maybe there isn't a direct link to people's application getting delayed but when you look at our they treat some Asian applicants it is obvious about what they think about us. Please take a moment to check the new scheme that was established for asian students to reduce the time spent to get a study permit and all. Why didn't they do that for us? I believe you know the answer to that. It is left for us to repair our reputation and go there and prosper, maybe in the next few years we won't need to be going through this mess like "getting affidavit of return", submitting 10 property document, submitting several SOA etc. when some countries have financial institutions that award student loans etc just to prove you are coming back. I checked a particular university I dont want to mention the name, they had scholarship options for American applicants, canadian applicants and even mexican applicants. They had no scholarship options for African students! . So Imagine storming their office or sending a scattering email, how do you think that will be perceived. By the grace of God people in this situation will be favoured and this temporary frustration you feel will become something you joke about in the future. God bless. My wish is to refresh my time line everyday and see trv's getting approved that's the joy and benefit of thjs wonderful platform.

You have spoken well.

Let me add, the processing time on the CIC website is average processing time. Each application is unique. Is it normal that an application stays for 1 year, hell NO. Whatever anyone is experiencing in the form of delay, submitting almost 20 documents (which is even outrageous), going through so much stress are mere symptoms. The problem is Nigeria has failed us (bad reputation) and its citizens (I am on this table as well) are not helping matters as well.

Do you know some students arrive Canada and don't go to school? Do you honestly think this will not affect future students when they apply for their visas and ultimately increase wait times?

For those of us in Canada, let us try to be good ambassadors not just for our families but for the sake of our country. Those waiting for their visas should also represent the country well when they arrive so that those coming behind will find it easy to crossover.

God help us.

Thanks, please what's your take on someone that graduated 2016 from Agricultural economics and extension.Serve in 2017 and he applied for Environmental technology at NBCC.Do you see any correlation between the two programs? With no working experience but into family business. What will be your advise?

There are no set out rules for the number of words that will be suitable for an SOP. You can write as much as you can provided that it's persuasive, straight forward and concise. A 2-3 pages SOP is adequate for a first time applicant.

Therefore, your SOP should cover the following core areas;
1-) Describe your academic and professional background briefly,
2-) The program of choice,
3-) The school,
4-) Why you wish to undertake your program in Canada not Nigeria considering the high cost of international students and the local option available in your home country,
5-) Financial Provisions, how you intend to finance your studies in Canada without working and no recourse to public funds,
6-) Future Goals and Prospects, what you intend to achieve at the end of the program and how it might benefit you in the future and to your country men,
7-) Your home ties to Nigeria that can motivate your return home after authorized stay. This can be your immediate family members, registered business, landed properties, investments with the bank, spouse and kids.

Lastly, while drafting your SOP make an effort to back your points up with an evidence as this will speak well of you in your absence. Also, give your points in a logical manner, always be neutral and don't keep praising Canada and speaking ill about Nigeria because it will give the visa officer the impression that you're using study permit as means to abscond into Canada rather than educational advancement.

Though people might tell me to do PNP but i did not work in any HR unit or position so i dont have experience in that field. I also have a diploma in Light Vehicle Automotive Mechanic from Australia. I want to apply for Advance Diploma in Transportation and dispatching in canada, what are my chances? I worked for over 14 years before i left to study Auto Mechanic in Australia. I am currently working as a mechanic in Australia for less than one year now but will like to move to canada through school. I have a good travelling history as i have travelled to UK, Germany, US and Australia. I have gotten a school already that is requesting for my wes evaluation. please what should I do. Every suggestion and advise is welcomed. thank you.

TRV processing time update 30/03/2019

Hey Nairaland Family,

We now have a sample of 25 hopefuls!

Please I would encourage those that have applied this year to share their timeline (whether you're a new or re-applicant, Application Route, School Resumption Date, Application Date, Biometrics Request Date, Biometrics Done Date, Medical Request, Medicals Done, Medicals Passed, PPR or the Current Status of your application). If you don't have all this information, you can just share the ones that you have and update the rest as you receive it.

This information would help us study or attempt to establish a pattern to how CIC operates. (Please note that the calculated estimates are just averages based on the little sample we have. Your processing time may be faster or slower than the average)

For those that have already submitted their timeline, kindly share if you are a new applicant or a re-applicant. Also, please share when you are expected to resume school. This would help us understand if there is a relationship between processing time and resumption date. (Cc Questionner, Oni2019, Yacha77, docsaj, TheAfrikan, Klem28, Trishaben, Omarzx, ify85, Samolala2019, umulobi, Mykaelolalekan, Oyalfares)

Finally, If there is anything you think i should add to the data or calculate from the data or if there is a better way you think I can present the data, I am always open to suggestions.

Weldone Sally I think anyone who's biometric data happened a day or same day depending on the route of application is a new applicant while anyone who's application reflect N/a is reapplying
Because biometric cover you till then years from the day it was done VSF office in the country you applied from so you can add new applicant to mine for example

Adding that of your hubby won't be a bad idea as that will serve as an home tie and prove you have enough financial support.

NOTED. Thanks very much.
JustMellow:

in as much your emphasis makes valid point likewise sharing a link from IRCC website to back your claim is understandable BUT still, I personally feels you missing the point.

A person on a Visiting Visa to a country can without any obstruction of immigration law visit another country only on the exceptions of criminal records, admissibility or otherwise BUT applying for a study permit(esp Canada) on a Visiting Visa is not sage, that of a work permit might be much attainable to a study permit given the circumstances.

The shared link spoke justice only for a Visit Visa and not Study Permit or Work Permit.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by IbikunleBukky(m): 8:31pm On Mar 30, 2019
I GOT YOUR POINT BRO. SPOT ON.
Naijaforeigner:

Thanks for sharing the link. However, I must say it is a very difficult one to convince the visa officer. For example, you go on a visit to UK (visitors visa is usually for pleasure, tourism or medicals) and then all of a sudden, you changed your mind while in the UK on that same visa and decided to go and study in Canada and then you fill your application, submit inside UK. Think about it.

I will never say it is impossible but it is a difficult one. This is my opinion.

I rest my case on this issue.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by IbikunleBukky(m): 8:38pm On Mar 30, 2019

Guys so I've got a challange.
So I gain admission to study in the university of Saskatchewan
Last year. I had paid my full tuition and accommodation but I was deined Visa twice
So I asked for deferment. Cos I was still considering reapplying. Now I've gained admission in a school in Australia and Saskatchewan granted me a fresh offer of admission this year. I plan to reject the offer and focus on the school in Australia but I need clarification weather schools has any ground not to refund my tuition.

Thanks guys

The answer lies in your offer letter...there the school states how much dy will deduct if u want a refund...if it's not they, then u mail them...u have every right to get a refund...but not certain u will get the full refund... Peace!
