This is my own experience
Canada TRV (Visitor Visa)
Paper application.
1. Submitted my visa application and did bio metrics as a new applicant on 26-02-2019.
2. I received an email from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada regarding (RE: Validity of biometric information) on 02-04-2019.
3. Email of Final Decision Letter was received on 08-04-2019. Result: Visa was refused.
4. It is 09-04-2019 and I am currently waiting for the notification to pick my passport.

My travel history:
1. USA: Twice. 2016 and 2017
2. U.K: Twice. 2019
3. France: Once. 2019

Refusal Statement
I am refusing your application on the following grounds:

I am not satisfied that you have truthfully answered all questions asked of you.
I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit.
I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence.
I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.

I feel even if you have a perfect application a visa can still be denied.
No visa application is guaranteed.
A visa is not a right but a privilege.

I have noticed visa applications with very strong profiles been denied by Canada.
Seems like a mass visa denial. Are they against Nigerians?

Any landed properties?
Any good account statements?

Bank reference letters were attached as proof.

What do think that the visa officer was trying to say by the comment above?

Also, what do you do for a living if i might ask? Married? Why are you visiting Canada at this time? You've been to Europe three times this year within the space of two months and applied to Canada not too long after coming back. Did you travel for work?

Transit free routes (transfer without a visa) from Lagos/Abuja to Barbados are tricky. It's easy to list Istanbul, Havana, Panama City, Luanda and Brazil and say they are transit visa free. One should consider which airline is flying the particular leg of the journey, is it in a partnership with other airlines (star allegiant), what terminal the airline is entering in a particular airport, what about checked luggage, and how long a delay you have in connecting between flights.

GRU, Brazil, Sao Paulo is not entirely transit free. If you arrive in one terminal and have to depart from a different terminal, you are NOT free to transit WITHOUT A transit VISA. You will have to pass thru Immigration Control. I don't know for a fact in practice because I never had to test the theory BUT I did contact GRU Airport and ask them directly, along with TAAG Airlines and the Brazilian Consulate. If you arrive in Terminal 2 by Ethiopian or Royal Air Maroc, then you need to stay in Terminal 2 and depart with a partner airline, if you are headed to Barbados. All of the large, commercial airlines like Emirates, Turkish Air, United, etc arrive in Terminal 3 of GRU Airport and none of these airlines fly to Barbados from Terminal 3.

Obviously obtaining a transit visa is urged, as you don't want to be the test subject, who gets turned away by Immigrations and told to return home.

Not sure what this conversation is aimed at but you need a transit visa only if you intend to exit the airport for most countries ie Most major cities have more than 2 airports so if your flight landed in one airport and your connecting flight is in another airport in same city, you will need a transit visa bit if its same airports bit different terminals, you don't need a transit visa but the visa of your final destination.I have had many connecting flights to europe when i didn't have a visa and it wasnt a problem since i was not exiting the airport for any reason but if your layover is long and you need to be lodged in a hotel outside the airport, you will need a transit visa but if there are no plan of exiting the airport you arrived in and your connecting flight is same airport but different terminals then you do not need a transit visa for most countires

The first reason they gave here about not answering question truthfully is what's catching my attention. It's a serious something. I think you should review your Application and see what this means or where you probably ommitted a vital question.
Did you mention any country that has ever refused you visa before? You have to reapply and clear this IMO

You will apply for a visit visa
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by jpepper: 10:52pm On Apr 09, 2019
Kezz15:

I applied via online route.
As a student , I travelled home/USA every summer
I left right after my graduation. Did not apply for extension,
Got visitors visa, visited my siblings twice. My siblings graduated and left too.
(Just completed MD school in USA)

My parents and siblings all have current Canadian visa ( regretting why I didn’t apply with them for my brothers graduation, never knew Canada will deny me).

It’s really annoying to say the least.
So I can’t even visit my friends or attend reunions.

So sorry about your application, I suspect it might be because you have a good profile which makes it seem like you are more suitable for express entry/immigration. Also, our people who have been "abusing" the refugee program are not helping matters, they now seem to be very strict with visitor visa as it is one of the popular routes to the refugee program. They probably thought you had the same intention.

Yea, I agree with you.
My Canadian experience & career choice (Dr) might be a disadvantage to me, since there are better career prospects I guess.

Hello good morning
Bigger thanx to everyone here for your contributions so far
God bless you all.

Unfortunately, we were denied visa yesterday. Got the mail n we are planning to reapply.

Please, these are the reasons why the visa was denied:
They are not satisfied that we will leave Canada at the end of our stay:
1. based on travel history
2. Based on family ties in Canada and Nigeria
3. Based on Personal assets and financial status.

Firstly, I will like to say it's only my husband that has traveled to UK before, and we both went to Dubai last year for Xmas and New year

Secondly, what do they mean by family ties because we are going there for tourism and we are going to stay in an hotel (Husband, wife n our Son)
Do they want us to leave our son (1yr old baby) OR they want only my husband to go or only me to go, please I don't understand. Kindly explain to me please...

Thirdly, We av two landed properties in Nigeria but we didn't attach it to it when applying, is that what they means by Personal assets??
And can we attach it now when reapplying??

Lastly, concerning the financial asset, we av over 10M naira in my husband account as the Sponsor for the trip, so y the financial status??
And my husband works in one on the biggest and recognized company in Nigeria

I will like pple here to please and please put me through on what to do.
We are planning to reapply Nextwk because we planned to spend our Summer in Canada
Infact, we want to visit alot of places like Niagara fall
We attached our hotel reservations, flight booking, places we want to visit etc.

I am so sorry for the long post.

Kindly help me out by putting me through.

Thank you all as I look forward to your swift response.

Personally I feel visiting visa has more to do with luck. U can add the land properties if it will help. For instance I applied for my parent's to attend my sister's convocation with a virgin passport, less than 2m in my dad's account and one landed property with a value of less than 2m and it was approved within a month.

Sorry for that but for the whole family to be on vacation it's a red flag for not returning back to Nigeria. The family ties In Nigeria is zero which is not permitted for TRV
