Should I Take This Banking Job Offer? Pls Come In And Advise by Welcomme(op): 4:50am On Apr 12, 2019
I graduated in the year 2015 and did my NYSC in the year 2016 to 2017. Ever since, getting a job has been something else. Well, last year I took up a teaching job in a private school and the salary is around 26 thousand naira. I have been on it for a year now. I hardly have time for my self considering the number of classes and periods.

I recently got a job with Stanbic bank as a Direct sales agent (marketing) with a salary of about 50 thousand.
I am afraid of taking up the offer because of all these bank targets and how to meet up with the target. I am afraid let me not lose the job I have now and take up this offer and can't meet up with the target.

Pls those that have done this DSA job and others can do well to advise me and give me first hand experience and way of meeting target.
Thanks.

Go out of your comfort zone and try the bank job. Though it may not be the best but you will meet new friends and clients that can help you improve on your career.
When you get there explore the possibility of starting a professional exam.

Taking the bank job is a risk oh!!shocked

But if you aint risking you aint living.

Sha try the bank job. If it don't work out, the school will most likely not take you back.

If you run out of options sha, you try political thuggery, I hear it pays wellwink

Take the job with determination not for anything but for the expensive experience you will get. I tell you, schools will always need teachers till Jesus comes except there is a change in narrative. By the way, do you have a plan for your life or you are waiting till you get a good job before you make a plan? Dare not to make such a mistake.

Thank you bro... It. Is because of this experience of a thing I am trying to give it a shot. Working in a school adds no experience on my CV considering the fact that I didn't study an education course in school.

That is just it. I don't want to be too comfortable on the teaching job. Some people that I met in that school have been there for the past 11 years and it was just recently that their salary was increased to about 50k..They are stucked there. They can't move on cuz of age. That is not what I want for myself.
let me tell you one thing bro. What seperates you from others is taking the plunge when others fear for their life. You have been earning 26k for a year, ask yourself are you progressing or are you stagnant? Since you started the job, how many ICT training have you embarked upon? You seem so comfortable and very much afraid to take risk. Years from now you would be in regret and bitterness when your mates overtake you, will you take responsibilities or would you look for whom to blame for your shortcomings?

Ignore all those comfort zone bullshit
You just dont take risk, if you must risk make it a calculated one, if youre taking the job then make alternative plan on something to fall back on incase stuff goes wrong.
The worls is not intrested on your experiences but your output and you will understand this when stuff dont work as plan and your starting all over
If you mush take the job save atleast 60% of your gross income so you dont regret later
I advise people alot on the adage of leaving your comfort zone is to actually know where youre headed because it take only a great miracle for a stranded soul to pull through which most beings arent destined to experience so bro plan your shit well and game yourself up to be involved on only a well calculated risk kappish

Best advice I've seen on here. Surprisingly, I also learnt from it.

Re: Should I Take This Banking Job Offer? Pls Come In And Advise by biggerboyc(m):
Firstly, I'm a DSA with a bank and right now I'm considering resignation. I've spent over 1 year with the bank, I'm currently on 10 days leave and when I resume on 24th of which I believe salary would have been paid, I will tender my resignation. Let me explain your job role to you in case you don't know. As a DSA you are a foot soldier and your core duty is to achieve a target of account opening and other bank solution which include cards and other bank solution. You may also be given SME target. Not meeting it is not a problem in your first 2 month. But subsequently it becomes an issue when you consistently fail to meet those target. Remember you are to work under every circumstance so under the Sun in the afternoon you must work. You will also have deposit target, for me it is 1.4million naira monthly but I've never even gone pass 300k average balance. You are also to book loan and manage customer. One of the fear factor is that you can't go pass 50k earning as bank always have graduate trainee and your chance of getting converted to a full staff is very slim. Although you can also converted since some people have trend that part before and are in a better position today.

Conclusion
I don't regret taking a DSA job role with my bank. In fact the experience is worth it. But I think the effort I put into my target if channeled into my own business, I will be a better person.

Before you choose weigh your options well, research your job, meet those who are currently working and ask about there experience( you can ask anonymously) see whether you can cope.

Don't make a decision because you felt your mate are more successful than you. Most of them won't tell you what they are going through.

I know a DSA that works with Stanbic that earns over 350k as commsion every month. Management approved that he should be converted to a full staff at Entry level with a lower pay and he refused.
Its not always about where you are, it's about how well you're doing wherever you are.
Re: Should I Take This Banking Job Offer? Pls Come In And Advise by Tolumiide: 7:55am On Apr 12, 2019
Bro, look at yourself earning 50k, like the experienced teachers in that school in the next 11 years and make a decision now.
You're comfortable in that school now because you have no responsibility. I have been in a private school environment for awhile, tough doing some other ICT stuff to boast earnings, I can tell you that teaching in a private school is not a good option for a man. As a graduate, instead of taking up a teaching job with 30 to 40k, go and learn a hand work, with your education you will surely make a difference. Take the risk, do other things too, keep on moving bro. God will surely help you.

Op, take the chance on the 50k job and do your best to make it work/progress. Just because the job pays 50k today doesn't necessarily mean it will pay you 50k in the next year or two. Who knows this could be where you kickstart career, make good earnings, meet the one person who changes your life forever directly/indirectly etc etc. Go for it and all the best.

Na experienced advice the guy dey seek

Op, DSA job is challenging but interesting, it will stretch you beyond limit, crazy targets, thank God they are stretching you already at your current work, like in my case I enjoyed the marketing experience I got from it, made me do away with my shyness, met a commissioner of finance through it, but got a better offer after 6 months.

So it's worth giving a shot, the school job sucks already, I've been there too and I know how it is, as a man, just believe you can, not trying at all makes you a failure, at the end you may blame yourself for not trying at least.

If you like yourself, DONT TAKE THE BANK MARKETTING JOB. It is that time you'll realize the 26k is worth more than the 50k. If u want sales, go into pharmaceutical or real estate or something more sensible. Not bank or insurance sales agent
Even the experience you're talking about, that kind of sales experience is almost negligible. It's in same category as the teaching
