It wasn't an Igbo coup. It was a Nigerian coup. You can say all you want about how wrong it is for the military to kill civilians but Nzeogwu was a nationalist.

I know some of you are not so knowledgeable but it’s important I point it out to you that he served as the leader of opposition (an official position in a parliamentary system of government) after independence. He also served as the federal minister of Finance and vice chairman, Federal executive council between 1967 and 1971.

Today, despite Murtala Mohammed being a coup plotter, war criminal and a genocidal killer, Nigeria still honoured the man on their currency and major landmarks such as roads and Airports

Murtala regime remain the most non corrupted regime Nigeria will ever experience. Go and ask your dad. His zero tolerance for corruption was the reason for his assassination.

Look at Murtala Mohammed looking on. It may be difficult for some to believe that shortly before this picture was taken, this evil man called Murtala Mohammed orchestrated a coup, not only to kill many of his comrades from the Eastern part of the country, but also to pull the North out of Nigeria

Some Nigerians like to think bad of Ojukwu for breaking up the country, they dont know that this genocidal killer called Murtala Mohammed actually planned to break up Nigeria long before Ojukwu did. Murtaka initially demanded the secession of Northern Nigeria from Nigeria. It was only after the British envoys in Nigeria held a meeting with Murtala and his fellow Northern coup plotters and told them that Northern Nigeria was not economically viable and that Eastern Nigeria had huge reserves of Oil and Gas did their tune change from "Araba" (separate!) to "one Nigeria!". They now hurriedly chose Gowon because he was the highest ranking Northerner in the Nigerian Army at the time.

Murtala would go on to lead the second division of the Nigerian Army to commit war crimes such as the Asaba massacre and the summary execution of Biafran prisoners of war

Today, despite Murtala Mohammed being a coup plotter, war criminal and a genocidal killer, Nigeria still honoured the man on their currency and major landmarks such as roads and Airports

Murtala Muhammed is not a northerner but from Edo state. So why would he want to pull the North out of Nigeria. I might be wrong though.

None of your forefathers, dead or alive, who largely were beneficiaries of Awo's educational policies, Infrastructural projects and his political structures, many of whom became relevant through his magnanimity, the entire former Midwestern appendage, who had one time fed off his great resourcefulness, would never in their lifetime troll or deride the great Awo.
From the testament of the Oba of Benin being a member of the old western regional council of Obas, across the corners of the Benin Kingdom from the occupant of the present throne to the least of the entire Edo state, are forever appreciative and indebted to the great Awo.
Your claim of being an edo indigene is very much in doubt, I suppose you are most likely a bloodline of Osu crossbreed.

After independence , I think Awolowo had less relevance in Nigerian politics .

He was no doubt instrumental in the actualisation of an independent Nigeria but the moment Akintola kicked him out, he became a mere 2 or three time presidential aspirant who kept loosing before he went into retirement.
This is not so, Bukola Saraki and Uzor Kalu, spoke extensively to gowon, to not go further with the 1989 coup against El Rufai then as he was the proxy head of state In 1955.
