The fight with halfhand was staged so that jon would gain the thrust of the wildlings. He didn't beat the halfhand fair and square, the halfhand sacrificed his life so the wildlings would take Jon in and Jon could in turn spy on them.

Khal drogo stripped almost nude to kill an armed dothraki challenger with his bare hands.

Jorah killed an entire tournament of fighters.


We saw all of this first hand...

Jon couldn't even kill that nightswatch guy from gin alley without help from one of crasters wives.

The only people Jon tends to kill unaided are either already dead zombies, or wildings with zero armour. I was so glad when Ygritte sent him back to castle black with an arrow in his nyash

Brienne is a great fighter but is always wearing full plate armour and so has a great deal of protection from damage at all times. In a pure fight one v one (no iron man suit) with some of the other names on this list, I'm not sure she would do very well. For example, The Hound beat her black and blue with only his bare hands.

My good friend I still stand by my word. You don't need all those full armour to be called a great fighter. Remember Daario Neharis or maybe Ser bronne said Armour slows him down. Some can move quickly with it but others can't. So it doesn't really matter what she was putting on.
