Thank you all our able guides here, and more power to your elbow. I need a guide here pls, particularly from those that are conversant with EA assessment. My profile and questions are as follows: I have a B.Eng degree, Electronic Engr from a fed uni, worked with a private firm for a year and then a govt institution for 7 yrs and 4 months counting. My job title and experiences has been electrical Engr in nature. I'm also COREN registered, Electronic engr, though I would HV preferred Electrical but there's no option of nomination as its done wt EA. I think COREN registration is primarily based on academic qualifications. NOW MY QUESTIONS: to nominate electronic or electrical engr? If electronic, wont I hv big odds as I don't HV much experiences as per would be CDR contents....if electrical, would my COREN reg as electronic engr not go against me in EA assessment as Electrical engr or I should just skip that part of professional registration and not upload anything. Also as electrical, does Additional Services application applies to me ? Also, I would like to claim the max point as per 8 yrs working experience. My present work wt govt is 7 yrs n 4 months counting, n that is clearly verifiable. The other 1 yr wt private firm I'm afraid may not be cos there's no document at all, no payslips, no contract. The firm is registered but at present existing only in papers. I can contact the owner though if I need anything but I wouldn't knw what EA would ask for and the possibillty of the firm' owner having them. If I go for the assessment now n maybe get only that 7 yrs +, would my yrs of work experience n points automatically increase as I clock 8 yrs at my present job by DEC time? Or I would be needing a reassessment by then? .. From EA booklet, I understand their assessment outcome doesn't expire, but I have seen someone here crying out of his own expiring soon. I need clarification here too. |

@Jewingle, Yes, you will be eligible to apply for PR provided you have a positive assessment from Engineer Australia which I believe you can with a good CDR. However, considering invitations in the last few months, with 65 points, you will be on a long queue except you get a state or regional nomination. You can be in the queue with your qualification. The PR process doesn't give any recognition to your class of degree as long as your certificate says you graduated. What matters with EA is writing a solid CDR. With the introduction of the new regional visa coming up in November, you may easily get a regional nomination by then. I will advice you get started with the process with English test and skills assessment. You can only be in the game to win the game. Goodluck bro. |
Re: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by bellong: 1:21am On May 04, 2019 |
@farnet, 1. Nominate electrical engineering. You don't need your Coren certification for a positive assessment. What you need is a convincing CDR showing your skills as an electrical engineering. 2. If you have no paper evidence from both the company or third party, don't claim the experience. However, you can put the experience as unpaid (volunteer role). Yes, by December after assessment, once it is 8 years, the system automatically awards 8 years points. No reassessment required. That is if there is no deduction of experience from EA. 3. Skills assessment expiry date is not set by the assessing body, it is a migration act. Under the act, a skills assessment is valid for only three years after which you will have to do a reassessment. It is not an EA policy but the Migration Act regulations. |

@topacs, Since you already submitted, what you can do is wait. With TRA, you still meet the qualification required if your experience can proof you meet the anzsco job description for the occupation, you should be fine. 1 Like |

bellong:thank you Sir for your detailed answer and advice. I really appreciate this. I will do exactly as you said. But I have some other questions. I am a petroleum engineering graduate but have no experience nor skill in petroleum industry or related industries. I know I could come up with some professional certifications like HSE (1,2and 3)occupational health and safety cert and other related certifications. Can all that add up when writing my CDR?. And I also have no Idea about this CDR and how to go about it but I know I could make a little research on it but a few hint about it would be deeply appreciated. Will my CDR be based on my undergraduate degree and subsequent certifications I got? Lastly. What other thing do you think I would need considering my own situation. I am currently learning how to code and other IT thingy. (Data science). Your advice in general relating to career choice even if it’s going their and do a program in nursing because I heard it’s hot cake.Or after getting my PR, I do a masters degree In safety engineering. I’m really open to ideas and don’t see a future in the oil industry. I just need a proper guidance because I don’t want to follow the wrong part.Thank you boss |

@ klerry, bellong, Thank you so much guys. I really appreciate. I will go for electrical. But i think I will still add my 1 yr private firm experience and try to get a job appointment letter and ref letter from them, and maybe also, the company's registration certificate. Reason being that that experience is on my profile as in my present institution's website, the link which I intend adding for EA verification. I'm awaiting ielts result, coming in a week's time. Looking at CDR writing ( will be needing a good guide n samples here please) from the upper WK regardless of Ielts result. My point stands at the least: age @ 25, english @ 10, work exp @ 15 ( at most by DEC), Education @ 15 ..Total @ 65.... Still contemplating going for 5points Partners Skill or just go for 489 visa with my 65 points.Wify hv bsc microbiology, currently running her MSc. So, I wouldnt know how her sitting for the Ielts will be considering her already huge loads as per being heavy n the MSc program too, or I should just free her. I will appreciate any advice here too. |

afternoon house, please I want you to kindly educate me: I work in a Nigerian commercial bank and so couldn't get a job role for PR. Besides I am around 41 years of age at the moment. Because of this, I am deciding to explore school routes now. I wish to go for M.Sc Finance in Australia, January 2019 admission through a school agent. With this decision, am I good for it in terms of PR in view? Also, if given admission, should I apply for visa together with my family of 5? Is there possibility of gaining PR when I get there considering my age of 41 now? |

Got a "Further employment clarification required" email from Vetas where they requested for physical address of the company Also number of staff employed what are the departments within the company and in which department i work and which project are your currently working on. I'll like to ask best correspondence to respond. Should I get my Manager to write them providing the requested details in company's letter head or should I write these information in plain A4/email? densel: Marketing specialist is only sponsored by Northern Territory and their application process usually take between 9-14 months. You probably should find another closely related occupation. However, if you want to go ahead, ABSU degree may likely be assessed to be equivalent of an AQF Associate degree. If that is the case, you may likely get a negative assessment because Marketing specialist is a Skill level 1 occupation which requires assessment as a bachelor degree. VETASSES doesn't do experience in lieu of qualification. |
Re: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by bellong: 3:33am On May 09, 2019 |
@Princesskiki, Assess as a food technologist. The experience is still within the last 10 years. You don't need to add your MBA, it doesn't add anything to your application. Good technology is a 5 year course in Nigeria. All five year courses irrespective of university are assessed to be equivalent to AQF Bachelor degree. What is your spouse's occupation? 1 Like |

bellong: Thank you for responding. What can we do without you and other "resident" oga them! Would you suggest I go for a closely related Skill level 2 occupation that requires AQF Associate degree like customer service manager (149212)? If yes, how many education points will that fetch me as against B.Sc's 15 points. |
Re: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by bellong: 1:24am On May 10, 2019 |
Princesskiki: Ok. I asked to know if he would be in better position as the principal applicant. You are better as the principal applicant. However, if you guys don't mind, South Australia sponsors supply and distribution manager on subclass 489. densel: 1. Yes you should, provided you can align your skills with Anzsco job descriptions for the occupation. With VETASSES you must be able to align this well for positive assessment. 2. Associate degree is 10 points. |
