Re: FG Approves Abolition Of HND/BSC Dichotomy by kittykollinxx(m): 4:39am On May 15, 2019
Should we pretend like they are same? The dichotomy explains the concept of specialization and division of labour in many sectors.

Congratulations to all stake holders, but it's more of a mindset. For me we are all graduations, bsc, msc, college of education. All are called "higher institutions "

A university degree is not a paper! taken nothing away from the polytechnic graduates, with all their skills they still need someone who understands the theories that drive the practice and that is why, university graduates should always have an edge. Without theories there's no productivity.
Have you taken a careful examination of polytechnic graduate writing skills?

FG abolishes BSc/HND dichotomy in paramilitary services
Re: FG Approves Abolition Of HND/BSC Dichotomy by Spatta: 4:49am On May 15, 2019
And what does it matter in a country where there are no Jobs for both University degree holders and HND holders, Where they (Politician) approve and disapprove by Laws made by corrupt entities who do not builde the nation

The dichotomy remains on our minds. we all know they are not the same, even if they are, the Educational system is long dead and broken since the late 70s

At last sense don fall on FG ... nonsense ... Naija gives more priority to certificate over what you can offer
Re: FG Approves Abolition Of HND/BSC Dichotomy by OboOlora(f): 4:50am On May 15, 2019
The only reason I support this is because of the polytechnics that are way better than some universities eg Yabatech Vs ABU.

It’s relative. Some, and I would say quite a lot, of graduates from Nigerian Universities too cannot even write application letters. Punctuations are so bad - and they are even bereft of Skills needed by employers these days.

Truth is, many Nigerian graduates are unemployable: largely due to the obsolete system of education though - Polytechnic or University alike.

But the discrimination is not in Knowledge - it’s in the ranks and remuneration structure. It’s a subtle way of influencing prospective students to apply to Polytechnics as well - which would at least reduce the huge population seeking a University degree.

If you ask me - it’s a good thing. But overhaul all the curriculums for courses in the UNI and Polys already- it’s not 21st century like!

So HND graduate should stop doing postgraduate diploma again before Msc.

The difference is hard to miss .

Try teaching both an entirely new thing and see who learns faster.

It would be a crime to pay both same salary .

University graduates are wired to be problem solvers and critical thinkers, Diploma holders are skilled craftsmen that take instructions.

Re: FG Approves Abolition Of HND/BSC Dichotomy by baby124: 5:08am On May 15, 2019
Upon all the school... Nigeria is not going forward. HND should be left where it is. In fact more Nigerians should be pushed to pass through polytechnics so they learn a skill for 2yrs before going on to earn BSC since most are useless to themselves after graduation anyway.

As for the useless professors who are just feeding fat on government wages without publishing any research at least biannually, they should be sacked. We have too many people with useless degrees where they cram/cheat through school and cannot apply their knowledge in any capacity.
