1. People who wish to reference God for their success should not be bullied.
2. U left d country 20 years ago, n things r different now. At most u come home a few times n endure Nigeria because u know your jet is waiting at Muritala Airport when u get fed-up. He whose Palm kernel was cracked by a benevolent spirit should not forget to be humble.
One wise man called Chinua Achebe said so.

On a very positive note
TWoods has an opinion, n doesn't like to stay in the middle so as to "satisfy" all parties. At least, it shows he is no politician, who talks just to keep everyone happy. He is not nice with the truth, which is a rare quality.

Sounds like the kind of guy u need at the half-time team talk when your team is down by 3 goals. Popular opinions r not in your favor but it doesn't mean there isn't a lot of sense in your submissions. Well done, n post again as much as u like.

Perhaps, if we have people like u willing to "trash-talk" our youths to their senses, Nigeria would have been liberated. We are where we are today because all of us are Nice.

Wetin you de talk, the country no de liberate go anywhere, if the country better why the Twood wen de bash people no come back to the country since 20years, youths if you have to do anything to travel down here do it, as long as you have a degree here you will be very alright.

Kendrix69:

For instance someone wants to start a company that deals with manufacturing of a particular product.... Is it an MBA degree I'll get or a masters/PhD in dat field?....

I'll recommend you get a PhD for three reasons;

1. An MBA does not really train you to become an entrepreneur but it trains you to become a business manager or leader. Both roles are very different. Now, it will be best you get a PhD in that field and acquire expert knowledge on that field. Then, you can enroll in one of the many entrepreneurship incubators like Y Combinator. Those incubators will give you expert knowledge and access to investment than an MBA would do. A lot of top startups like Dropbox, Airbnb, Stripe, Coinbase, DoorDash, Reddit, Instacart etc are all alumni of Y Combinator.

Then when you start your company, you can hire an MBA to manage the business side of the firm (finance, operations, marketing) while you will focus on the main technical side of the business.

2. An MBA is expensive while a PhD is free. You don't want to go the entrepreneurship route when you've not really gotten back the investment you made on your MBA. A few people take the entrepreneurship route after an MBA, but most of them are OBOs or self-made millionaires already.

3. PhD gives you enough time to perfect your business strategy. An MBA is two years and very rigorous. You won't have enough time to think about your business. But PhD is 5 years and from my conversations with several PhDs, I've discovered that they have enough free time to pursue other interests. So, you can use that free time to attend entrepreneurship events, network, meet potential investors and perfect your business plan.

For these three reasons, I vote in favor of a PhD. But be prepared to pay very well to hire an MBA that will manage your business. Hiring a talented MBA graduate is not cheap at all grin grin grin

But once you have the right funding from investors, that will not be a problem.

Your positive notes are the positives I've taken from his posts and if that means "asslicking" to some people, I shake my head.

I will always advice the wise to take the positives in his comments and apply to their peculiarities. They will turn out better refined. I am not in anyway egging @TWoods on in his harsh language/tone.

So no hope for funding @Buffalo?
It is sure a great school.

Your SOA covers the cost for Buffalo so by all means go for it.

But what's your plans for studies? How will you handle such cost ?

Beyond the appeals of school profile, you also need to pay attention to their individual program structure and content. That informs your final decision.

Am going into biotechnology

I was denied visa (again) on May 16, 2019 for being desperate.
The VO was already angry. He denied a woman with a teenage boy on wheelchair and another woman who wants to visit his son. He was obviously angry with how the son got into the USA.
VO: (with angry tone) You have applied 3 times, why are you here again.
Me: my research interest has changed, and I also have a tuition scholarship and graduate assistantship.
VO: (pick my I-20 again, read through, type and was a little calm) what did you study in undergraduate
Me: Computer Engineering
VO: what year did you finish
Me: January 2016
VO: You want to go for your Masters after 3 years, so what have you been doing since then.
Me: I did my NYSC for a year, worked at Company A for year, and I am concurrently working at company B.
VO: Do you write any language.
Me: Yes, I work with C# and JavaScript, I use React, Node.js and .NET.
VO: (angrily) Alright, but I will be rejecting you again, the more you apply, the more it shows you are desperate to leave.
Me: I scream oh no, but I pick my stuff and left.
(I applied last year for MS in Software Engineering with no funding, I applied for visa in May 21 and August 4 for Fall 2018, and December 3, 2018 for Spring 2019 all with the same school and program. This year I am going to a different school for MS in Computer Science with a Specialization in Software Engineering with tuition scholarship and Graduate Assistantship covering 75% of the cost with only a deficit of $8500).
