Just calm your nerves before you start jumping into conclusions...

First.. why was it not written directly?? Why bracket!?

Second, how could german embassy favour courses that involves DSH over English taught courses. If at all, it should be the other around.

Third, have you gone through the website itself, there are many English errors eg “Life” instead of “Lives”

Now this is my view, it’s in bracket because there are courses that does not require DSH, for instance mine and there are no reasonable reason to favour DSH related courses over non DSH related courses. It should be both.

@heeedreeez could be right likening this application process to the Canadian Express System, where pool is judged by number of points.

My observation is that the Germany embassy is trying to prioritize students who have certified proficiency in German language (via B1, B2) and also those that have already registered to learn the language during their study program in Germany (via DSH).

If you observe the A-list criteria carefully, the first three (3) requires a form of examination; whether aptitude test or language proficiency test for international students. It's only fair for them to have included the "DSH course-related admission" to the Bachelors degree, because it confirms the student's commitment to take the language examination during the study program. The words "also" and "the" confirms DSH as a non-optional addition to the Bachelors degree criteria.

Although this seems to be unfair to students (like me) who applied for English taught Master programs in Germany and don't intend to take a certified German language examination. However, I guess this model helps them (Germany embassy staff) coordinate and sort through the numerous applications they receive, and more importantly since they've to prioritize applications.

I only hope the B-list will also be given adequate attention by the Germany embassy staff, especially for some us who are scheduled to resume during this 2019 Winter semester and are yet to get an appointment day.

I believe we all want the best for each other. The reason for the arguments. However, we need not to attack one another as everyone is explaining based on his/her understanding about the whole issue. Only the embassy can clear the air but till then let's accord each other respect and continue to contribute positively.

You see my friend, in this life, nothing is sacrosanct! Learn to open your mind to learn, it won’t hurt you.
Good night boy!!

I can bet you chose category A, you are only trying to defend your mistake with long episodes as if German embassy will be there for stories.
They simply ask.
If you know you are in category A this side, category B that side.

Then for those in category A, present any of the proof that shows you are in this category.
Mr Adeniyi might try to prove smart by saying that the information wasn't clear enough, then they laugh and throw another bomb question.
But you ticked that you have a scholarship
May I please see evidence of your scholarship

Thank u for this info! Cos my passport expires by Feb 2020...
Can I get a new passport with the same passport number in Lagos?

Cos I already booked for interview
No sir, you cannot get the same passport number . the new passport will contain a new passport number, with the old passport number under "previous.."
Since you have Already booked with old passport number NO PROBLEM. Just make sure you go to the embassy with both passports. Use rubber band to hold them together.
You will be admitted into the consulate using the old passport and later on visa will be stamped on the new passport. I confirmed this from the VO that interviewed me. I asked her. So good luck

You can renew your passport!

To all if you are not certain about an answer to a question please don't answer like you are certain. Start your answer with " I think " or "I suggest" etc. Don't mislead people abeg. #fake deutschmann

You were able to do this because its Abuja or cos of the procedure you followed.
When I was around for the holidays I tried renewing in port Harcourt. (Because mine expires next year February, )they refused. Even the controller general wanted to use me to make money. I decided to leave it. I would do it when I come for Christmas.

SM is a leveller, one guy Basalt will just pop up and say you guys hardly read properly,
Why can’t you listen to others, pick your points and argue it out constructively without using denigrating words like you guys WONT UNDERSTAND. Please what do you think you have in your head, there are very smart people without degrees, first class students,Msc holders, PhD students on here just for the hustle
The fact is the contentious part of the requirements is not concise enough so the reason for the back and forth. You might be right or wrong, it’s just your OPINION at least for now. Like the other guy said be open minded, sit down and be humble (that’s how intelligent people interact) Only the embassy can come up with the official statement.

Are you sure DSH is the name of german intensive course your school is offering..Just my opinion bro

The DSH (German abbreviation for Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang) is a language proficiency test required for entry to a German university and to undertake all classes in the German language.

It consists of a written and an oral examination, the written part being a precondition for the oral one. Students are allowed to use a German–German dictionary during the written examinations and—in case of failing—to only repeat the examination once. The grading scale of DSH is between 1–3 with 3 being the best possible grade. A detailed breakdown of the percentile achieved in each part of the examination will also be given on the certificate.

Proficiency levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR):
DSH 1 (≥57%): Level B2
DSH 2 (≥67%): Level C1
DSH 3 (≥82%): Level C2

DSH is a language exam and not a course. It tests whether you are fit to begin studies in German. Don't confuse people please!

freakky:

Dsh is a language course and my school has a compulsory German intensive course... That will be done for two weeks before the start of the program that's for people going to Karlsruhe university of applied sciences

Good eve guys...

I heard from a reliable source today that if you have from 1st class to 2.2 and youve been admitted to a german school, you are to book for option A in the visa appointment.. This is confirmed after a niggah called the embassy and he was told to cancel initial option B application and reapply for option A..
He was told option B is for those thatbhave third class.

He reapplied yesterday and he was given a date in July today.

I think we have to confirm this again bfr we start cancelling option B o..

Anybody with similar info?

I read that information on embassy site and I was like most of us are supposed to book for A and not B. Even I told a friend on this group same thing to go through the info well

Please I saw this under category B booking and I couldn't understand it at all.
Please gurus in the house, help me interpret this vague sentence because it's so scary. Does it mean they are aware that there will be a long waiting period for those that used category B?
And reseting it by September when most enrolment deadline is on 30th September. I am contemplating canceling my category B appointment and rebooking with A

During the long waiting period for B-list appointments, many students change their plans and do not show up at their assigned appointments. Therefore we will reset the B-list registrations at the end of September and at the end of March before the beginning of the new semester and delete all at that time existing B-list entries.New registrations will be possible again from the beginning of October / April.

So you chose B and cane to argue over A? I don't think there's any other definition of a dull brain than that. If you were so sure why didn't you go for A? Your arguments are obviously flawed in so many ways so chill and stop flooding this thread with nonsense

We've been having this debate for far too long. Many people booked B, a lot were undecided as to which category to book. In our WhatsApp group yesterday 5 different people called the embassy for clarification. Guys asked to be clarified on what category to book and the lady responded if you have first class to second class book A, B is for third class. People still inquired about the compulsory scholarship box that must be ticked that they don't have scholarship, and she said again just book A. Folks have decided to cancel B and book A.

It's possible the scholarship tick stuff might be a programming glitch. After hearing from them directly what excuse do you have for not booking A.

If you have doubts call the embassy directly and hear from them. Stop second guessing.

Well great.. there are people that can’t reason. I won’t even reply their messages. They can’t see things apart from their own perspective. They are too stupid for my liking.
Anyway, I thought of the possible glitch, and people that know about full stack development would understand. It’s a condition that has already been declared, why re-declare? What if I meet the two out of the language requirement and still does not have scholarship?? Or is that not possible too?? I mean what is the use of giving sets of unrelated rules and on the next page, one of the conditions nullifies the others except itself is included.
Anyway, thanks for the update. God bless man.
